Humpback whales have been on the endangered species list since 1966. Climate change now poses the biggest threat as the warming of the Southern Ocean is altering the habitat and food supply for humpback whales. The whales travel south each summer to feed, but are now finding their destination dramatically changed with frontal zones moving further south, decreasing sea ice and krill populations, resulting in less available forage for the whales.
