A basic introduction to the Edward Waters College Library. This is a very general introduction to the library and its services, especially the catalog and the databases offered.
Demystifying & Integrating Web 2.0 at the Metropolitan Museum of ArtJennie Pu
This session focuses on successful strategies for experimenting with, trusting, and integrating Web 2.0 tools in an organization’s daily work. It covers marketing strange new tools to an idiosyncratic group of library users with extremely specific needs and whose discipline, art history, has typically relied on more traditional resources. Speakers demonstrate how the library staff quickly adopted Web 2.0 tools, created winning presentations for all museum staff dealing with the relevancy of these tools to scholarly research, the concern with authority and security.
Presented by Linda Dougherty and Rhonda Dobbs, Northwest High School Library, to faculty on selecting informational text articles from database subscriptions according to differentiated reading levels.
Introduction to Shapiro Library ResourcesEmily Singley
Overview of the resources available at the Shapiro Library at Southern New Hampshire University. Includes how to find articles and e-books, how to use RefWorks, Google Scholar, and more.
You may have heard that Twitter, Facebook, and other sites like LinkedIn, Tumblr or Pinterest are great tools for getting the library’s message out to your patrons and stakeholders. This is true, but these tools are even more useful and powerful when you think of them as ways to build relationships with members of your community. Learn what each of these tools has to offer and how you can use them to build relationships through social media outreach.
Presentation includes examples of promoting SirsiDynix tools and resources.
This session will explore how libraries are utilizing social media tools, Open Source soft-ware, and mobile devices to offer new services and interact with library patrons. Topics covered include iPad apps, Foursquare, LibX.

The French Revolution, which began in 1789, was a period of radical social and political upheaval in France. It marked the decline of absolute monarchies, the rise of secular and democratic republics, and the eventual rise of Napoleon Bonaparte. This revolutionary period is crucial in understanding the transition from feudalism to modernity in Europe.

Operation “Blue Star” is the only event in the history of Independent India where the state went into war with its own people. Even after about 40 years it is not clear if it was culmination of states anger over people of the region, a political game of power or start of dictatorial chapter in the democratic setup.
The people of Punjab felt alienated from main stream due to denial of their just demands during a long democratic struggle since independence. As it happen all over the word, it led to militant struggle with great loss of lives of military, police and civilian personnel. Killing of Indira Gandhi and massacre of innocent Sikhs in Delhi and other India cities was also associated with this movement.

12. THE BASIC DEFINITION OF A LIBRARY DATABASE:
A library database is an electronic catalog or index, often contains information about published items,
and is searchable.
TYPES OF MATERIAL FOUND USING LIBRARY DATABASES ARE:
Articles from Journals and Magazines
Electronic Books
Newspapers
Images
Reference Sources
Library databases typically provide citation information about the items they index. A citation most
often consists of:
Author
Title of Article
Source (Title of Publication)
Publisher
Date of Publication
Some library databases provide abstracts of the items they index. Abstracts are summaries provided by
the author or database publisher.
A few library databases provide the full text (entire article) of some of the items they index.
Library databases sometimes omit photos, graphs, charts, and figures from articles, but most will indicate
that these have been omitted.
THE BASIC DIFFERENCES:
Some library databases index items across many subject areas. Most databases index materials from a
specific focus or discipline.
