3. SPEAK & PRACTICE ENGLISH!
•You are in this classroom to learn how to
communicate in English and you can only do
that if you are willing to Practice and use
what you learn. The more Spanish you use
in this classroom, the less English you will
learn. Do watch TV programs, videos and
movies in English, with closed captions also
in English.

5. BE PREPARED FOR CLASS!
• There are all sorts of different things that are involved in being Prepared for
class. Read through the following list for hints on how to be organized for class
and prepared to learn English!
• Review what was covered in class after every English session. It is important to
remember that simply doing homework assignments is not the same as
"studying" for English.
• Complete your assignments! Follow directions carefully, and finish your work on
time. Be Punctual. Late homework is not accepted.
• Come to class with your notebook & materials neatly organized. You will need
your notebook every session.

7. BE PREPARED FOR CLASS!
•If you miss a class, call a classmate to get the
assignment. You are expected to be prepared for the
next day's class, including any tests or quizzes that
are scheduled for the day you return.
•Get in the habit of asking for and offering help.

8. KEEP ON TRYING!
• Learning a second language is like learning any other performance skill: it takes
time, patience, and practice. You make progress all the time, and a positive
attitude helps a lot!
• Be Positive about your ability to learn! Don't get discouraged if you get stuck" - if
you keep on trying, it will "click".
• If you want to learn a second language, expect to make mistakes! Feeling self-
conscious, and doing things that occasionally strike you as silly is all part of the
package - and everyone in your class is in the same boat! A positive attitude can
make it easier; a "negative" attitude puts up roadblocks at every turn.
• Be positive and polite about your classmates' ability to learn!

9. KEEP ON TRYING!
• Correct yourself when you've mispronounced a word or given a
wrong answer. It shows that you are learning and trying!
• Speak clearly and loudly so that everyone can hear you.
• Ask for help when you don't understand something. Sometimes it
takes several explanations before something sinks in. That happens
to ALL students learning a second language! Don't wait until 5
minutes before a test or quiz to say "But I didn't understand this!"
You can come in for help before or after school.

13. INSUBORDINACIÓN, RETO A LA AUTORIDAD O
ALTERACIÓN A LA PAZ
Violaciones a las faltas contra el orden institucional
(insubordinación, reto a la autoridad o alteración a la paz) en el
salón de clase, resultaran en una reducción de 3.3% de la
puntuación obtenida en la actividad que se esté realizando por cada
incidencia que ocurriese hasta un máximo de 4 o 13.2%. Luego de 4
amonestaciones se entenderá que el estudiante NO tiene interés en
realizar el trabajo y se le adjudicara “Ø” en la actividad.

14. COPIARSE
Violaciones a las Faltas contra el Honor y la Honestidad
(COPIARSE) en nuestras actividades y trabajos resultaran en una
reducción de un 25% de la puntuación total de la actividad
realizada a ambos estudiantes. En caso de reincidentes, la
deducción aumentara a un 50% por la segunda incidencia y 75%
por la tercera. En lo sucesivo se le adjudicara “Ø” en la actividad a
ambos estudiantes.

15. SI EL ESTUDIANTE SE AUSENTA
Si el estudiante se ausenta, este es responsable de hacer llegar una
excusa escrita justificando la misma en un término no mayor de
diez (10) días laborales. Una vez justificada la ausencia dentro del
término establecido, es responsabilidad del estudiante debe
solicitar la reposición de tareas dentro de los próximos cinco días
laborales a partir de su regreso a la escuela. El maestro asignara la
fecha de reposición dentro de los próximos cinco (5) días a partir de
la solicitud del estudiante. Si el estudiante no atiende con premura y
responsabilidad las reposiciones dentro del tiempo establecido, se
le adjudicara “Ø” en la actividad.

16. “BULLYING” y PALABRAS HIRIENTES
El acoso escolar (“bullying”) NO SERA TOLERADO EN EL
SALON.

17. Nuestro Reglamento General de Estudiantes
dice:
•Articulo IV, Inciso I parte 1(h)
•Los estudiantes no pueden usar gafas
de sol, lentes ahumados, gorras e
imágenes alusivas a drogas y/o sexo
dentro de nuestra escuela.
• (Suspensión de seis (6) a diez (10) días lectivos)

18. Nuestro Reglamento General de Estudiantes
dice:
• Articulo IV, Inciso I parte 1(i)
• Ningún estudiante puede interrumpir la clase con fuertes e
inusitados gritos, conducta tumultuosa u ofensiva o
amenazas, insultos, riñas, desafíos o provocaciones. Ningún
estudiante puede usar lenguaje grosero, profano e
indecoroso en forma estrepitosa e inconveniente. (Suspensión de
seis (6) a diez (10) días lectivos)

19. Nuestro Reglamento General de Estudiantes
dice:
•Articulo IV, Inciso 2 parte 5
•Los estudiantes no pueden usar teléfonos
celulares, juegos electrónicos, bocinas o cualquier
otro equipo electrónico que no sea utilizado como
parte de la clase. (Suspensión de seis (6) a diez (10) días lectivos)

20. PELEAR (AGRESION)
•Si un estudiante agrede a otra persona en el salón, se
solicitara una suspensión por un término entre seis
(6) y quince (15) días lectivos según establece
nuestro Reglamento General de Estudiantes en su
Artículo IX, Inciso G, parte 5a, (5) y se radicara una
querella ante la Policía de Puerto Rico.

21. GRABACIONES EN EL SALON DE CLASES
• El Artículo 168 de Código Penal De Puerto Rico de 2012 y la Ley
de Política Pública y Derecho Cibernético de 2012 (PC3980)
establece como delito que un estudiante utilice equipo
electrónico o digital de video, con o sin audio, para realizar
grabaciones secretas en el salón de clase, donde se reconozca una
expectativa razonable de intimidad debido a la presencia de otros
estudiantes, cuya privacidad está protegida también por el
“Children's Internet Protection Act” (CIPA) y el “Family
Educational Rights and Privacy Act” (FERPA).

22. YOUR IDEAS, EVALUATIONS, ETC

23. MR. SUAREZ’S CLASSROOM RULES
•Come to class on time. Standing
outside the door and rushing in after
the bell will constitute a tardy. You
must be INSIDE the door to be
counted on time.

24. MR. SUAREZ’S CLASSROOM RULES
• Attend to personal needs before coming to class. I have been instructed to
limit passes, so please do not ask for a pass unless you have a true
emergency.
• Remain in your assigned seat unless you have permission to get up. Throw
scraps away at the end of the period on your way out.
• Do not eat candy or other food in class unless you have been given special
permission. School sponsored sales will be permitted during the last 10
minutes of class IF we are finished with the lesson and permission is
granted. Be sure to ask first.

25. MR. SUAREZ’S CLASSROOM RULES
• Bring required materials every day unless you are otherwise
directed.
• Talk only when permitted. Be aware of the situation since quiet
talking is allowed in some situations and speaking to the entire
group without raising your hand may be allowed in others. I will
remind you once and expect your cooperation.
• Use polite speech and body language. Unkind teasing and
impolite behavior is unacceptable.
