Letter to the church of Ephesus
Rev 2:4 But I have
against you that you
left your first love!
What is Leaving your First
Love?
Some people
don’t leave
their first
Love but they
just add a
second love.
First Love is not a First
time Love
It is a First Priority Love
Rev 2:4 But this is what I
have against you: you do
not love me now as you
did at first.
(Good News Translation)
Rev 2:4 But I have this
against you, that you have
abandoned the love you
had at first.
(English Standard Version)
Rev 2:4 But I do have
something against you! And
it is this: You don't have as
much love as you used to.
(Contemporary English
Version)

Baptism
…you do not love me now as you did at first. Rev 2:4
Why? Why? Why?
Mat 24:12 Such will be
the spread of evil that
many people's love will
grow cold.
Church membership keeps us after a fashion
decent in outward conduct and with some
shadow of loyalty to our baptismal vows, but
the heart is not in the thing. It remains cold,
formal, and unimpressed amid all this
outward performance, while we give
ourselves over to self-congratulation that we
are doing wonderfully well religiously.
E.M Bounds (A Essential of Prayer)
May the Lord God work this conviction in the hearts
of all cold believers. Have you ever heard the
expression, “a conviction for sanctification?” You
know, the unconverted man needs a conviction before
conversion. So does the dark-minded Christian need
conviction before, and in order to sanctification,
before he comes to a real insight to spiritual
blessedness. He must be convicted a second time
because of his sinful life of doubt, and temper, and
unlovingness.
Andrew Murray (A Deeper Christian Life)
What is the Reason Why
Some Left their First
Love?
1. Lack of Communication
Psa_55:17 Evening, and
morning, and at noon, will
I pray, and cry aloud: and
he shall hear my voice.
Jos 1:8 This book of the law shall
not depart out of thy mouth; but
thou shalt meditate therein day and
night, that thou mayest observe to
do according to all that is written
therein: for then thou shalt make
thy way prosperous, and then thou
shalt have good success.
• If you don’t spend time with God at least
few minutes before or after you leave to
work your Love to God will gradually
gone
Giving much time to God is maintaining
our love to Him not just in words but by
actions
Prayer and Bible study is allowing God to
enter in your own heart.
Communication is a fuel
that fires the relationship
over and over, without it
the relationship will end.
2. Loving the Worldliness
1Jn 2:15 Love not the world, neither
the things that are in the world. If
any man love the world, the love of
the Father is not in him.
1Jn 2:16 For all that is in the world,
the lust of the flesh, and the lust of
the eyes, and the pride of life, is not
of the Father, but is of the world.
Their Attention is not
captivated by Spiritual things
but on the things of this world
Pleasure seekers society
 This generation focuses on Temporal things
than Eternal things
 This generation sacrifices their faith just to
gain their NEEDS AND WANTS
 They rather be famous than lifting Christ
 They are afraid to loose their earthly
attainments than Jesus Christ.
Materialistic generations
1Ti 6:7 For we brought nothing into this
world, and it is certain we can carry nothing
out. And having food and raiment let us be
therewith content. But they that will be rich
fall into temptation and a snare, and into
many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown
men in destruction and perdition. For the love
of money is the root of all evil: which while
some coveted after, they have erred from the
faith, and pierced themselves through with
many sorrows.
Many are not interested in
the service of God because
it seems to be a threat to
their present earthly
happiness.
Com-pla-cent
Marked by Self-satisfaction
especially when accompanied
by unawareness of actual
dangers or deficiencies
3. Making the cares of this
life as Priority
Mat 6:31 Therefore take no thought,
saying, What shall we eat? or, What
shall we drink? or, Wherewithal
shall we be clothed?
Mat 6:32 (For after all these things
do the Gentiles seek:) for your
heavenly Father knoweth that ye
have need of all these things.
1st I need to finish my degree
2nd I need to have a stable job
3rd I need to have a comfortable house
4th I need to have property
5th I need to have a Family
6th I need to have a brand new car
7th I need to have a good salary
8th I need to have an insurance
9th I need to provide my Family a good food
10th Lastly, if all this things will be done, I need God!
Worldly Priorities Sometimes it is
Subconscious!
Christ-centered Thinking.--Your last
thought at night, your first thought in
the morning, should be of Him in
whom is centered your hope of eternal
life.-- Lt 19, 1895. (HC 116.) {2MCP
666.4}
Godly Perspective
Jesus Christ is everything
to us--the first, the last, the
best in everything.
Ellen G White
Mar_8:36 For what shall it
profit a man, if he shall
gain the whole world, and
lose his own soul?
4. Loving the SIN
Mat 24:12 And because
iniquity shall abound, the
love of many shall wax
cold.
Letter to Laodecia
Rev 3:15 I know thy works, that
thou art neither cold nor hot: I
would thou wert cold or hot.
Rev 3:16 So then because thou
art lukewarm, and neither cold
nor hot, I will spue thee out of
my mouth.
Lust (Immorality)
Pride
Hatred
Vices
Greed
Examples of Sins that is very
common and cherished by many
Pro 28:13 He that
covereth his sins shall not
prosper: but whoso
confesseth and forsaketh
them shall have mercy.
5. No Fellowship with
God’s people
Luk 4:16 And he came to
Nazareth, where he had been
brought up: and, as his custom
was, he went into the synagogue
on the sabbath day, and stood
up for to read.
 You will learn how to love one another even the other
doesn’t love you.
 You will hear a messages that reminds you about God’s
word
 You will experience the power of God working in our
church
 As you doing service to God you also grow in faith
 You feel that you are useful for the blessings of others
Benefits in going to church
Heb 10:25 Not forsaking the
assembling of ourselves
together, as the manner of some
is; but exhorting one another:
and so much the more, as ye see
the day approaching.
Not going to church will
eventually became a habit or
custom that the next Sabbath
you will feel dull and cold
without any excitement
going to church.
Not going to church regularly is
a first step to backslide.
BUT…
Attending Regularly in church
even we are sinners is one of the
steps to grow in Faith
Who wants to Backslide and
Cut your relationship to
God?
The first step is NEVER GO
TO CHURCH.
How to kill our Love to God?
1. Lack of Communication
2. Loving the Worldliness
3. Making the cares of this life as
Priority
4. Loving the SIN
5. No Fellowship with God’s
people
Rev 2:4 But I do have
something against you! And
it is this: You don't have as
much love as you used to.
(Contemporary English
Version)
Rom 5:5 And hope
maketh not ashamed;
because the love of God is
shed abroad in our hearts
by the Holy Ghost which
is given unto us.
Hosea 11:4
I drew them with cords of a man,
with bands of love…
My New Year Resolution…
1. Communicate God daily
2. Focus on Heavenly things
3. God is my Priority
4. Confess and Repent your sins
5. Have a Vibrant relationship
with God’s people
