 My ninth grade students have enjoyed the

lesson so far. They are excited to see what
comes next in the lesson, but they are a little
restless.
 Today I will introduce the concept of

substitution and solving equations into the
lesson. The students will follow along with an
audio lesson, and then I will introduce the
equation for the Fantasy Football lesson.
 My method for this day is to use auditory

learning, visual learning, and group work.
This will hit almost every type of learning so
each student will benefit.
 The first thing my students will do today is

listen to a podcast on solving systems of
equations by substitution. They will follow
along and do the math as they are instructed.
After they finish, we will go over concepts or
steps they didn’t quite understand, and then I
will bring out the “Winning Equation” poster.
It contains the equation they will use in the
assignment on the following day. We will go
over the equation together and what each
variable means.
 Students will be required to participate in

following along with the podcast to receive
credit.
 As they are working on the podcast, I will

observe them and answer any questions they
may have. How well they grasp the concept
of substitution will determine whether or not
we will go over it again the next day.
