1. Hello, my name is Ms. Tentinger and I am the new math teacher for Geometry and Algebra II. I
just wanted to introduce myself and give you some information regarding the expectations in my
classes. Students will have homework every night. My expectation is they attempt every
problem and if they have questions they can go to my website: jtentinger.pbworks.com and view
the notes and help sites. Another option is they can come see me before school or after school.
We will go over a few questions at the beginning of every class after they have had a chance to
check their answers. My grading policy for homework is based on effort and completion.
Students need to have attempted the problem showing their work to get their credit. It’s not
about how many they get right or wrong it’s about giving them the opportunity to practice what
they learned in class. The answers to the odd numbers are in the back of the book.
We have adopted a new math series that is based on the Common Core Curriculum which is now
the state math curriculum. If you would like to view the criteria there is a link on my webpage.
The Common Core is intended to help students be able to apply what they have learned outside
the classroom. In order for me to tie the application piece of learning, they need to practice the
basics outside of class and that is what the homework is about.
Many students are not taking the time to do their homework and will be required to stay after for
study tables. Students who are struggling may be required to stay with me for more one on work
as well. If you have any questions or concerns please email me at jtentinger@lomaschools.org
or call me at 644-2250.
Sincerely,
Ms. Tentinger
