To enhance the appeal of my presentation I used other software within my blogger. The external features I used offered me a way of showing planning in a more pleasing to the eye format. www.slideshare.net is a website I used that allowed me convert Microsoft PowerPoint presentations into a programme that was correspond able with blogger. By using slide share I was able to show my work in a concise neat section of my blog in oppose to a number of pasted images which may have become monotonous in presentation. Slide share also has realised the potential to connect with a wider audience so has included links to send PowerPoint’s to social networking sites such as Facebook and twitter; this feature of the website helped me when I wanted to share my progress and exchange ideas with other students.
50165204470
This idea of sharing projects with social contacts has also been used with blogger and another external site, www.photobucket.com. Photobucket is another site which offers a different way to present work; I used this website for its simple way to show images in a photo album style. The process of uploading my images to the application then obtaining the link to paste on my blogger site was very easy to use and very reliable as I did not have to go back through the process to make any alterations.30099001624330304803279775Blogger was a huge help in presenting my research and planning and evaluation. The website committed to sharing blogs to a network of users, started from humbled beginnings in 1999 and after being bought by Google in 2002 rose in proliferation. The 11 years experience blogger now holds has provided me with a means of presenting my project on a secure reliable platform with the ability to customise and repeatedly add different features to my work that make it both unique and relevant to the contemporary digital age. Blogger understands that features from other websites want to be used by bloggers as a way of expression and further explanation; so through the use of an easy process of html codes and embedding codes, external site content can be included in blogs. I used a lot of embedding to enable me to show music videos from YouTube.
Embedding videos was a feature of my blog which I found very comfortable to use. Initially I made sure that the video links I used were from reliable sources that would not break in the near future due to violations in copyrights. Through the use of embedding videos there was the chance to engage a reader in a different way, so instead of just reading text, there was the opportunity to also watch and listen. Embedding video also meant that there was no need to switch website, eliminating fear of seeing something explicit. However I did decide to include some links to some music videos so there wasn’t an over powering emphasis towards the videos instead of the text content.46031152868295442404543815
2928620107315663892510579102044065630555
For me precision editing was key in order to conform to Goodwin’s principle of creating a relationship between music and visuals. The precision editing allowed me to create transitions and other visual adjustments such as fast cut montages which could be matched against the beats as close as possible. An example of this was a sequence in my music video where the clip was sped up then reduced back to normal speed followed by being sped up again; this very short sequence of editing was created to match the drum beat heard on the audio track. The film production software that I used was ‘Imovie’ for the Apple Mac. This allowed me to edit my raw footage with my chosen song ‘Cha Cha’ by Grinny Grandad. With simple technology at hand I was able to simultaneously upload video and edit it without worrying about a considerable amount of time lost to the construction of the final piece. Imovie resembles software used by professionals such as Adobe Premier Elements and apple’s latest software package ‘Final Cut Pro 7’. It does this by offering features that enhance the video production stage such as green screen and colourisation effects as well as template themes and a detailed timeline that allowed precision editing. The colourisation effects available on Imovie allowed me to enhance the impact of the video by creating more vibrant, eye-catching colours that I believe fit in with the style of music. The effect allowed me to rearrange a lot of the colour features such as the brightness, saturation and contrast, that of which I increased noticeably throughout my music video.Less complicated effects were also available on the Imovie programme; some of my raw footage was recorded from different sides and put together with other stages of my music video seemed confusing; through the effect of reversing frames I could edit clips together to make it appear that my character was facing the same direction for prolonged stages of the video. By doing this it would continue keeping a sense of continuity.
3357880106680
All my footage was recorded on a Sony HD hard drive camcorder which helped me in a number of ways. As the video camera stored all the recorded video on its hard drive it didn’t require me to use a cassette so there was less to think about. The camcorder also delivered footage in good quality picture which helped my final production look more like a professional product. With all the tracking shots that were required for my music video, the steady ‘steady cam’ feature was the biggest help for creating my project as there was reduced shaking captured. The Sony HD camcorder could also be used to take still images, so this feature was used to capture pictures I later used for my magazine advert which held the theme of showing my characters travels.
Although Serif PhotoPlus was effective in producing my final ancillary projects, I would have liked to have been able to use Serif PagePlus, a programme designed specifically for A4 publishing. If I had used this I think it could have been easier to primarily create my magazine advert because of the pre existing template and the accurate dimension present around the canvas. My magazine advert and my digi-pack design were both completed by using the desktop publishing software Serif PhotoPlus; this programme was a good substitute for Adobe Photoshop which I could not get hold of.
4259580139700
As well as the clone tool, serif allowed me to edit the colourisation of selected images; through the use of this I was able to boost the contrast of my digi-pack panels. The effect of this created a link between my digi-pack and music video because of the new vivid colours.
5932805103505
The Serif software allowed me to create my products primarily by adding ‘layers’ on top of each other and then effects available allowed me to manipulate them. Manipulation of images was key to what I intended on achieving; The still images for my digi-pack needed to be enhanced so I could present my band name, I achieved by this by using a ‘clone’ feature that allowed me to copy an area of the image and re-present the same selected area of image on top of the original layer. Doing this allowed me to erase part of the image I wanted to then replace the space with my band name.4973955586740
31496029210
www.myspace.com was a great help for finding unsigned artist that were approachable via email. The simplicity of this featured a whole chart dedicated to unsigned music bands that were genre specific so it was just down to selecting an artist which matched my existing ideas and asking permission to their tracks.
The MySpace website was also good for research as it features major artist information and relevant examples of social networking and web 2.0 that I needed to be able to understand and present on my blogger.
Finding an artist for my music video was probably one of the most exciting stages of my whole project as there was an air of possibility and it also represented the starting point of my production stage.
365442580645
