Conclusion
Firstly, the purpose of an artist’s website is commercial as they sell things on their
for example: an artist may sell their songs, merchandise, concert tickets or any
other products they may have (such as makeup lines, clothing ranges or any
collaborations with other brands). Artist websites have many conventions to them,
a generic conventional artist website will consist of a home page, a home page
acts as an ad for example in two out of the three website’s I have analysed have
their latest or upcoming album is featured on the home page as this intrigues
people who will then go onto click the link and download the album resulting in
more sales and therefore more revenue for the artist. Furthermore, they generally
have a menu bar that include different sections such as shop where they sell the
artists merchandise or any other products. The last thing that a conventional
website generally has is the artists tour dates and links to buy tickets for their
shows. Finally, media language is used to construct representation of an artists
image, for example: Billie Eilish’s website uses dark colours which is not very
conventional as most website’s use eye-catching colours to get your attention
however in Billie’s case she is known for her ‘dark’ image so this website
contributes to her brand image.
