Human Factors of XR: Using Human Factors to Design XR Systems

1. A LOOK INTO THE FUTURE:
Augmented Reality Displays
2. WHAT IS IT?
It is the technology where you are able to
receive data from your computer and internet
without having to access a device because it is
already incorporated into reality.
“The reality that you see in front of you is
improved, or augmented, with additional visual
information using projected images” through a
projector, in this case, glasses.
3. Some of these devices are:
GOOGLE GLASSES
OCCULUS RIFT
PRIVATE DEVICES FOR
GOVERNMENT AND MILITAR Y USES

5. “These augmented realities displays will take that
technology one step further by integrating it with
wearable glasses or contact lenses. Whether you look
at a landmark, textbook, or person, the computer
connected to that display will be able to retrieve the
information you need and place it in your field of
vision” 2014

6. IT IS VERY PORTABLE
Some programs and notifications
would just appear in front of you,
looking at the phone or checking
your laptop for emails won’t be
necessary anymore
7. ISSUES
“Hi, are you there?”
Some problems could be that our
eyes find it difficult to focus on
objects that are placed very close
to us, it may be distracting when
we are trying to look at
something bigger or farther
8. IS IT COMFORTABLE AND
AFFORDABLE?
Some of the issues is how comfortable it would be and whether
or not people would like to wear glasses
Some of the fundings are expensive and not many companies can
afford to research or produce it
9. It would also be hard to charge the battery since it’s so small, it
may only last shortly and take a long time to recharge until a
person can use it again
It could also cause distractions for people and cause more
accidents or bumping into people because they may be too
focused on trying to text a message to someone
It could also be very distracting since people may not want to
listen to you speak commands to your augmented reality device
