Editor's Notes

  • #2 Hi Friends, welcome to our new webinar on Exploring REST API, Process flow and Artificial intelligence based error handling. During this lockdown situation with COVID 19 everywhere, we still have made some of the most interesting changes to our product. This webinar focusses on these release components and give you understanding on how you can utilize and how it can help you in real life. We are really honored to have all of you in this webinar. This is the hard time for all of us, but I can make sure the time you spend with this webinar will really worth and will add value to your understanding as well as your business.
  • #3 My name is Abhishek Sur and I am the VP of products at Insync. I have also been Microsoft MVP and Intel Software Innovator. I have with me Debasree Paul, who is our QA expert. She is one of the few person in our group who contribute towards the making of the product from start to finish. She is talented and knows every small details of the product. She will help you understand the features and help you quickly use them for your daily work. Debasree: Hi all, thank you Abhishek for this introduction. I will help Abhishek with all the demos and walkthroughs. The webinar is all about the new features, we will show these features as presentation in this event and also give you sneak peek on some of the features that will be coming in vNext.
  • #4 1 : To start with the Agenda, we will start with the introduction. We really want for all who are completely new to the platform to understand the basic functionalities of the product. I know there are some people who are not yet familiar with iPaaS and its benefits. For them we will talk why an iPaaS is at all required and also the different phases of development of integration. 2: Yes, I can see quite a number of registrants who are not our customer. The benefit will really help them pick the right solution to their business. 1: Yes, before delving deep on how things are work in the product, it would be nice for everyone to be on the same page. Next we will start talking about actual features of the platform. We will start with the REST Connector. 2: REST I think most of us already know. It is a widely used protocol which helps developers build APIs for information sharing. It inherently uses Http, and hence it is commonly popular to be used from Browser and Web. Most of the modern day applications or cloud solutions provide REST APIs, so if you use any of the Application which has a REST API, this feature will really help you to connect them to the portfolio. 1: You are right. REST is an important addition to the product, and the way it is built as of today, is very easy to connect. I have personally connected more than one application myself, and it is for me now very easy to connect any 3rd party application. 2: I bet it is. We will see the same in the walkthrough. The next big thing is the Process flow. This is something which you all might not aware of. 1: Yes, this is a completely revamped designer that we are building. It would be fun knowing its features for everyone, I am sure about this. 2: You are right. I am very excited about it, and everyone in the company is equally excited. I am sure for our customers and partners, it will be equally exciting. 1: And finally, I think we will introduce Artificial intelligence on the product. 2: Yes, the last part will be exciting because we are adding artificial intelligence on the product to help the customer connect to a solution. 1: Ok, that means it will automatically select solution for an unknown error message coming from an unknown application and give you a link to solve a problem using Artificial intelligence ? 2: Yes, that’s it. It is quite amazing, but still there is a lot to do in this feature. We are releasing it as BETA, and over time the intelligence will improve and the module can rank the links and produce better results.
  • #5 1: Ok, APPSeCONNECT is an iPaaS platform that connects two or more disparate applications together such that they can easily transfer their state one another. With APPSeCONNECT you will find all the data coming to one application, automatically transferred to the other applications, such that you can easily find the latest status of the data updated everywhere. 2: Yes, an integration platform is responsible to fetch data from Application 1 say it fetches leads from Salesforce and then update the SAP ERP system. The main motive is to avoid human intervention to make the data available to all backend systems or all other applications that requires the lead information in real time. 1: This is what you are talking about which iPaaS should do. Now what does APPSeCONNECT do here? 2: The main benefit or APPSeCONNECT is it is easy, readymade and does not require to write lot of code from scratch. Only thing that it needs in the platform is to map the API with schema definition in the platform, all data to be transformed and then push the data to the target applications. 1: And also the solution works in both cloud as well as on – premise, right? 2: yes, it does. That means you can either use our hosted solution which transforms the data in our servers, or you can host it yourself, which means the transactional data will be synched only from your local network and will never be transferred to our cloud services. And all of these happen in real time, either using a Schedule defined to execute the tasks, or you can use WebHooks on the application to make it realtime. 1: You are correct. It saves a lot of time and effort to create such a solution from scratch. It took for us 6 years to implement this, with so many devs working day and night, and I am sure it is not easy to build.
  • #6 2: Yes, there is immense developer dependence if there is no concrete platform built on top of a business. The solution needs to be agile, flexible, secure and error free. And this is something which is hard to come by, if built from scratch. Our solution takes care of all these parameters and provide you seamless journey on a business. 1: To talk about some other challenges like, API updates… In such a case also, a ready made solution can help right… 2: Yes exactly. The point is like this. Lets say, you use a SaaS application, say Salesforce. Now salesforce updates their TLS version from 1.0 to 1.2 or even released a more secure API stack and name it as V2. In case you don’t have a solution in place, these kind of change will mean you need to rebuild the whole system again. 1: Yes, a ready solution will go out of order in 1 single day that means. 2: Right. And you can think of the error messages. If you are not aware of such a problem may happen over time, you might miss such notifications too. You might find the problem days later than when the problem actually occurred. 1: That’s a nightmare. This means it’s a loss of business as well as its good will. 2: With the COVID 19 in the present economic scenario, people are reluctant to spend money. But still, online solutions are getting purchased regularly, as most of us is moving towards work from home, there is large requirement of SaaS solutions today. These unknown situation can happen anyday, and to be prepared, we need a solution which can easily add or remove a solution to an integration architecture. 1: Yes, if there is no such pre-built and time tested solution, small integration related errors are not easy to find which let the business lose its fame.
  • #7 1: Gartner predicts a SaaS growth to be no less than 17.9 percent per year. And with COVID in place, the SaaS adoption during this lockdown will even bigger. If you have heard, the collaboration tool adoption has increased manifold in last couple of months worldwide. 2: Not only Collaboration tools, there are huge proliferation of CRM tools as well, many businesses are trying out online CRM systems as well, to keep up with the online businesses and many more. As per data, the annual spending towards SaaS product will be more than 71.9 billion. 1: Its huge. And all these applications that we adopt is continually generating data. Some of these data are important and you want them to be updated to other applications you use as well.
  • #8 1: Now if we are thinking of building an iPaaS product, we might be thinking about building Rome. 2: Rome was not built in a day, and the image already depict the same. 1: Ha ha.. You are correct. In this image it shows, how the client communicates the applications and how APPSeCONNECT iPaaS solution retrieves the information from correct place and push it to different applications. 2: You are right. You can see from the image, there are a large number of components involved. There are Service Bus, there are Event Hubs, Cloud Service, Micro services, Databases, Caching, EDI solutions for Partners … and many more. I think the image abstracted out a lot of internal nitty gritties as well. 1: Yes, We don’t want you to think too much about the architecture. But I can assure the iPaaS solution is much complex from what we see from the image now.
  • #9 2: Basically, to make it more clear on business perspective, if you think of two apps App1 and App2 involved, the data is transferred from App1 to APPSeCONNECT engine. In between there is an adapter that connects to the application and stores the data for appseconnect, and the product transforms it using the logic coming from our cloud. 1: Yes we define everything in cloud and the API layer depicted in the image retrieves them to the Agent, which can be onPremise or onCloud and uses the logic to transform. 2: We are using micro-services for our cloud solution, an architecture that ensures if one tenant is compromised, the other tenants would be unaffected. 1: And also all communication between application and out cloud environments are 256 bit encrypted.
  • #10 1: We are not new in building the solution. As (deb) said previously, rome is not built in a day, we are also putting bricks by bricks to build a solution that is robust and simple to use. Initially, we started with a solution that could sync data only between two applications. And when one integration is ready, you need to create a separate independent process and build another. 2: Yes this was a very bad solution when I think of. Reuse of same data to multiple applications might sometimes necessary. 1: Yes, we realized that, and the next solution is adding dependencies to the integration unit. If anyone here want to know, we have been calling it as Touchpoints. The dependencies on touchpoint is also not giving us desired solution. And also we wanted to make it much more simpler than this. And hence we started building the Workflow. 2: Yes the workflow gives a visual representation of the integration data flow. This has helped us immensely and now with Advanced process flow designs it is even better. 1: Yes, I am excited to see the new process flow designs too, like many of us. We have released it as BETA, but yet you can experience the power of the complete decoupled integration capability today.
  • #11 2: But we will not start with Process flow now. It would be wise to show the REST once, then we move towards the Process flow. 1: No problem. REST means Representational State Transfer, and for us, the new feature allows to connect any REST API in the world with few clicks.
  • #13 1: Ok, Now let us fire up for a demo of REST connector in APPSeCONNECT.   ---- Free flowing till the demo ends.---
  • #14 1: I hope you liked it. Its so easy to configure a REST endpoint with our Schema and actions. Now coming back to our next feature, it is all about the new Process flow design.
  • #15 2: What is a process flow. Unlike the workfows which we have seen in the demos, a process flow is free flowing. There is no restriction on what node you are going to choose for transferring data. It’s a completely decoupled architecture. A drag and drop designer allows the implementer to quickly integrate between two or more applications, generate notifications etc. 1: It is also a one stop solution for developing an integration. You can find deployment and execution option directly within the designer. And while you execute, It will also show progress and all the required details that you need to debug a problem. 2: No more code debugging, because you do not need to install any software to use this integrated solution we have. It is completely web based and you just need to open the browser to develop an integration solution for your customers.
  • #16 1: Now why you need it ? It is because, working with Process flows makes the life much easier than what you could do with the previous versions of visual designer. The data is free flowing and it follows the design once deploy anywhere principle. 2: The functionalities that the new process flow provides really makes users feel to develop. The nodes are linked to APPS and Apps are linked to an environment, while an environment is linked to its credentials to connect the physical apps. 1: And the best thing of this new designer is that it is completely decoupled. That means as we add on more and more features, everything you build now, will remain unaffected. 2: Another important feature that I want to highlight here is the Data Snapshot. It gives you a tool where you can go in past and check whatever happened in the execution. This is a wizard that gives you each and every information on what happened during a time you are looking at. 1: Yes, and if you see there a failure, you can also rewind more to get it auto-fixed. The errors are generated, if could be fixed, the platform retries it again to fix the data automatically.
  • #17 1: Hence, if you want me to summarize, the main business advantages of using process flow is like these. It is very user friendly, less time to develop, it focusses on the data not on metadata. That means you can focus only how you want the data to be transformed from one application to another, and do not need to learn the nitty gritties of an integration platform. 2: The designer is futuristic as it induces artificial intelligence into it. All the pre-packaged applications are there in the toolbar, and you can visually execute a process flow and see how the data is flowing from one place to another in real time.
  • #18 1: The designer allows the users to directly access deployment tools from within the designer. Once can deploy in one or more environments. 2: Yes the environment is also a micro-service based solution, which leverages the best of technical architectures to give you the best solution. All the data flowing from one application to another, if written to a persistent storage is first encrypted and then stored, ensuring security both data at rest or in motion. There is also an end to end encryption applied to secure the key which is used to encrypt sensitive data. 1: The workflows can also be executed in controlled manner. That means the user have flexibility to choose a schedule and accordingly the flow will execute.
  • #19 1: If we want to talk about the different phases of integration, the processes are divided into mainly three phases. Design, deploy and manage.
  • #20 1: In design phase, the endpoints are investigated such that the data flow could be determined. It is the planning phase where every endpoint is minutely considered and a design is made how data will be flown from one application to others. 2: Yes, after the integration points are identified, the integration developer does all the communication logic. This will be done through the designer itself. The mapping is also an important step to consider. 1: And after mapping is done, the only step left is to deploy and execute.
  • #21 1: The deployment step is also very easy as we give you a wizard, and only thing you are supposed to do, is to follow the steps. 2: The steps goes like : Select agent, provide credentials, specify details of environment specific data, provide a scheduler information and boom, you are done. 1: Ha ha .. Yes, it is that easy.
  • #22 1: The manage phase is the maintenance phase. This is when we run the process flow over time and try to identify minor data issues and adjust the design logic accordingly. 2: Here in this phase, the logs are generally analyzed to find discrepancies. The snapshots will help the developers immensely to find appropriate error. The snapshots are generally linked with the retry window and finding a proper explanation is very easy with advanced tools. 1: In this phase the environment is also monitored on the network bandwidth, disk space, data throughput and rules are configured such that any discrepancy happens there, will trigger a notification. There is also an option to provision or deprovision enviroments, such that old unused environments could be tear down and reused elsewhere. 2: The dashboard widgets also gives you special notifications or informations about the usage statistics and other graphs, which helps in monitoring the solution easy.
  • #23 1: Its time to give you a walkthrough of the Process flow. --- Free flow ---
  • #24 1: After process flow, the next big thing that we wanted to highlight is the Artificial Intelligence. We have already shown you one aspect of artificial intelligence, now we are going to show another section. This is the AI based error handling.
  • #25 1: Artificial intelligence or more specifically Machine learning is a concept that tracks each and every data, executes an algorithm continuously to create a model. The model is then used up to predict a solution. This is the basic funda of Machine learning. As APPSeCONNECT errors are a common area which each and every developer wanted to address, we thought of adding AI to typically classify errors to special buckets and pick up best help document for that bucket. 2: Even if we talk about one solution, the inclusion of AI into the product will change the way people communicate with the machine or even get better insights about common problems over time.
  • #26 1: The AI based node suggestion inside designer is one of the common prediction model that you have already seen in the designer. When you drag one node to the programming workspace, the next node will automatically be shown, such that you can pick easily without finding from the toolbar. 2: This saves immense amount of time and also requires less learning curve.
  • #27 1: Error handling is another inclusion which we thought could help resolving problems on integration easily, 2: Oh, you mean the integration errors that people encounters will be automatically solved right. 1: Yes, you can just click on the error message and a popup will open showing all the probable solution that you can use to solve the problem. The solutions are not restricted to the solutions we write for you. This is unrestricted, as it uses cognitive framework to understand the meaning of the error and uses regular search engine to predict a fix. 2: Oh yes. I know we have already tagged a lot of document to troubleshoot issues, and inclusion of community as a whole will help immensely inside the solution. 1: The AI works in background and learns itself, based on the best picks, it will rank the links accordingly, such that the most appropriate link goes up in order over time.
  • #28 1: Ok, its time for demo again --- Free flowing---
  • #29 1: I hope you liked it. If you have questions, please feel free to ask now.
