September Homework - Assignment 1. Critique and Review of Poem. After reading the poem, comments and review to be posted into the forum facility. Do not go gentle into that good night Do not go gentle into that good night, Old age should burn and rave at close of day; Rage, rage against the dying of the light. Though wise men at their end know dark is right, Because their words had forked no lightning they Do not go gentle into that good night. Good men, the last wave by, crying how bright Their frail deeds might have danced in a green bay, Rage, rage against the dying of the light. Wild men who caught and sang the sun in flight, And learn, too late, they grieved it on its way, Do not go gentle into that good night. Grave men, near death, who see with blinding sight Blind eyes could blaze like meteors and be gay, Rage, rage against the dying of the light. And you, my father, there on that sad height, Curse, bless, me now with your fierce tears, I pray. Do not go gentle into that good night. Rage, rage against the dying of the light. Dylan Thomas ........................................................................................................................ Poem 2. Review the poem and post your comments back onto the forum . CRABBÈD Age and Youth Cannot live together: Youth is full of pleasance, Age is full of care; Youth like summer morn, Age like winter weather; Youth like summer brave, Age like winter bare. Youth is full of sport, Age's breath is short; Youth is nimble, Age is lame; Youth is hot and bold, Age is weak and cold; Youth is wild, and Age is tame. Age, I do abhor thee; Youth, I do adore thee; O, my Love, my Love is young! Age, I do defy thee: O, sweet shepherd, hie thee! For methinks thou stay'st too long. Creating Online Homework Tasks Pupils reviewed Literature within Google Docs and then Posted comments to the online “Forum Site” via mobile phone or Ipod.
But no such roses see I in her cheeks; And in some perfumes there is more delight Than in the breath that from my mistress reeks. I love to hear her speak, yet well I know That music hath a far more pleasing sound. I grant I never saw a goddess go: My mistress when she walks treads on the ground. And yet, by heaven, I think my love as rare As any she belied with false compare. …………………………………………………………… Love After Love  by Derek Walcott The time will come When, with elation You will greet yourself arriving At your own door, in your own mirror And each will smile at the other's welcome, And say, sit here. Eat. You will love again the stranger who was your self. Give wine. Give bread. Give back your heart To itself, to the stranger who has loved you All your life, whom you ignored For another, who knows you by heart. Take down the love letters from the bookshelf, The photographs, the desperate notes, Peel your own image from the mirror. Sit. Feast on your life. Tasks – To write a comparative essay exploring the two poems in both theme , meaning and writing style. Also include an analysis and effective use of established poetry conventions for both poems. [10] Amy Lowell - A London Thoroughfare.  2 A.M. They have watered the street, It shines in the glare of lamps, (imagery) Cold, white lamps, And lies Like a slow-moving river, Barred with silver and black. Cabs go down it, One, And then another. Between them I hear the shuffling of feet. Tramps doze on the window-ledges, Night-walkers pass along the sidewalks. The city is squalid and sinister, With the silver-barred street in the midst, Slow-moving, A river leading nowhere. Opposite my window, The moon cuts, Clear and round, Through the plum-coloured night. She cannot light the city; It is too bright. It has white lamps, And glitters coldly. I stand in the window and watch the moon. She is thin and lustreless, But I love her. I know the moon, And this is an alien city. ……………………………………………………………………………………. On the Departnent Website please write your own personal response to this poem. 1 paragraph to be added to the forum-Homework Folder- Look for Web2 – 8th November …………………………………………end. [10] ……………………………………………………………………………….. To touch the cup with eager lips and taste, not drain it; To woo and tempt and count a bliss, and not attain it; To fondle and caress a joy, yet hold it lightly; To watch the sunset in the west without regretting; To hail its advent in the east, the night forgetting; To smother care in happiness, and grief in laughter; To hold the present close, not questioning the hereafter; To have enough to share, to know the joy of giving; To thrill with all the sweets of life - that's living. • 1. Web2. Sample Lesson Plans Google Docs and Related Tasks. Evidence of Application and Pupil Engagement.
