The document describes several projects involving e-learning and knowledge transfer systems for medical organizations. It discusses a project for the International Headache Society that included a new e-learning section on their members-only website with video and reading libraries and interactive case-based learning. It also describes a 'PROSPECT' knowledge transfer project funded by Pfizer that provided pain management case studies and a system for field representatives to track client meetings. Finally, it summarizes an early e-learning pilot project for the NHS that allowed nursing staff to take online courses and receive certificates upon completion.
1. 1.0 IHS â e-learning
⢠The International Headache Society is a global membership
organisation and the official body for headache and migraine
categorisation.
⢠The current website was originally developed in 2002 and provides
non-member and member-only sections.
⢠The members-only section includes a new e-learning section
developed in 2009-2010 and which has been funded by
pharmaceutical companies Merck, Medtronic and Pfizer.
⢠The new section was designed to complement the existing site and
technology.
⢠The e-learning section features database-driven video and reading
libraries, interactive case-based learning and podcasts.
⢠All content and case studies are managed via a custom content
management system.
2. IHS â e-Learning

3. IHS â e-Learning
A sample video module featuring streaming video presentation and associated PDF file downloads
4. IHS - e-Learning
Tutor-led, highly interactive case based learning featuring downloadable stage documents, online questions and
discussion forum. Various governance controls are built into the system to manage study flow and access to
course information.
5. IHS - e-Learning
A case study question and response section showing user responses to study questions, tutor feedback and
further group discussion facilities.
7. 2.0 Location Library â Video & Social Marketing
⢠This project is a hosted service which provides short-form
streaming video to golf and property sector clients and which
is supported by social media channels.
⢠Clients commission the video content which is then hosted on
their behalf and displayed in a custom-branded, web-based
video player when linked to from the clientâs website.
⢠The service uses integrated YouTube, Twitter and Google
Maps social media channels to help attract and engage
audiences via video focused content who are then
encouraged to visit the clientâs golf or property website.
8. The Location Library - Website
The website of the video hosting company with sections for all main client groups and the âHomeâ page
featuring sample live video player examples and the ability to use the same video asset in a variety of different
online and offline media. (e.g. streaming video for websites, DVD and embedded newsletters and brochureware.
9. The Location Library â Video Player
Clients link to the hosted video player via their website. The hosted video player pops up and is branded to the
client in real-time. The player content is populated dynamically from the database and a dropdown menu
provides access to one or more video clips. The hosting company adds clients and player content via a custom
content management system. High quality versions of the video clips are streamed from Screencast.com
10. The Location Library â Social Media
I introduced the use social media to provide added-value to Location Library clients. Video clips are uploaded to
YouTube, simultaneously flagged on Twitter and added to the Google Map.
11. The Location Library â Social Media
The Twitter account is updated whenever a new video clip is uploaded to YouTube.
12. The Location Library â Social Media
The YouTube clips are also added to a Google Map.
13. 3.0 Hosted Mobile Real Estate Marketing
⢠This project is a hosted service which allows estate agents to
easily create their own mobile-friendly property marketing
content.
⢠Estate agency admin staff login to their online account and
use a simple content management system to add new
properties and all text, photo, PDF and even streaming video
content.
⢠The service is fully automated and allows self-sign up and
ongoing PAYGO payment via WorldPay.
14. Sample Mobile Displays
Highly compressed images and code allows for rich, interactive displays and functionality. Manual user input kept to a minimum.
Optional streaming video.
15. Content management and testing
The custom content management system make it easy to add new properties and review and test at any time.
17. 1.0 Bank Of America
⢠This custom database-driven intranet project provided a suite of
web-based functions including ECMS, internal contacts directory
and a research library holding various types of digital report assets.
⢠I liaised with relevant banking staff to gather and analyse all
functional requirements, developed the site taxonomy and
navigation, designed and developed all display and data capture
screens and worked with DBAs to specify the SQL queries and
migrate the data.
⢠I also worked with the IT department to ensure system
compatibility and co-ordinated delivery.
⢠The site was developed using a framed solution in order to provide
a âsoftwareâ look and feel.

18. Bank of America - Intranet

and the range of data that can be retrieved.
19. Bank of America - Intranet

archived date and stock name.
21. Bank of America - Intranet
Display from the âResearch Libraryâ section showing the ability to search for report data by subject,
sector, classification and analyst.
23. 1.0 National Trust - CD-ROM
⢠I have worked on several offline multimedia projects.
⢠This pilot CD-ROM project for the National Trust was
developed as both a potential product for retail sale and also
for use with visitor âkioskâ touch screen terminals.
⢠The project features video, 360 degree Quicktime panoramas,
interactive room-by-room floorplan and quiz.
24. The National Trust â CD-ROM
Display with primary content and links to various related secondary content and floor-by-floor navigation
26. The National Trust â CD-ROM

27. The National Trust â CD-ROM
A typical detailed room display with 360 degree panorama, tabs for related content, room and
floor plan navigation links.
29. 2.0 Various Clients â Video-enabled PDF
⢠The ability to leverage added-value from existing digital assets
such as video is well illustrated by the ability to embed video
within PDF documents.
⢠Clients who have commissioned video for e.g.: website, DVD
or CD-ROM use can derive extra ROI by formatting the same
content for use with e.g.: PDF newsletters and brochureware
that is typically emailed to clients and customers.
⢠The latest generation of Acrobat is able to embed video within
PDF documents (or link the video from an online resource).
⢠The video will self-play without the need for third-party
helper applications.

33. 1.0 PROSPECT - Knowledge Transfer
⢠The âPROSPECTâ knowledge transfer project was funded by
Pfizer and provides medical audiences with access to pain
management knowledge based on various procedure-specific
case studies.
⢠This project also featured an ECMS support system which
allowed global field representatives to enter client contact
meeting data in relation to ongoing related clinical studies and
also permitted the generation of real-time management
reports.
34. PROSPECT - Knowledge Transfer
The âHomeâ page display outlining the project and providing access to primary and secondary content
36. PROSPECT - Knowledge Transfer

37. 2.0 NHS â e-learning
⢠Although this is looking a little dated now, the concept and
functionality still remains valid.
⢠This was an early e-learning pilot project for the NHS and
featured a completely automated system for self-study by
nursing staff.
⢠Nurses could create an account, work through various short
courses featuring slideshow content and self-testing against a
database of randomly delivered questions.
⢠On successful completion nurses could print a personalised
course certificate.
⢠The system also featured multi-level access, real-time
management reporting.
44. Here Is⌠- Hosted community portal
⢠This project was for a community portal start-up and designed
to support a national community magazine network.
⢠Community websites could be created from via a hosted
template with content being created and managed by
magazine franchisees and their associates via a database-
driven content management system.
⢠Each portal site included news, articles, business focus and
advertising sections plus micro-site templates for use by local
clubs and societies.
