MySpace is a natural learning platform for educators and students, allowing 24-hour access.
Teachers can post and comment on assignments, and students can receive feedback from
teachers and make daily blogs right on their MySpace page. MySpace also have other web
applications available such as photo sharing, calendar, and RSS reader. Although it is a
good platform to learn, some schools have ban students from using MySpace while in the
classroom. However, with a good monitoring system in place, MySpace is a creative space
to learn.

Editor's Notes
The 21st Century challenges educators and students to think cyber, become cyber, and live cyber. This is a Web 2.0 Technology by Betty Johnson.
Web 2.0 applications are web-based and free to everyone to use. These technologies gives the users power to control their own work. There is no need for worrying about storage because it is all online. Users have the capability to retrieve documents from any location with internet access, share pictures, and connect with others.
Three of my favorite web based applications, that you most definitely would enjoy are: Google Docs and Spreadsheets, Roxio Photoshow, and MySpace. Let us take a closer look at these applications and you will see why they are worth checking out.
Google Docs and Spreadsheets enables users to import and edit existing documents and spreadsheets or to create new ones from scratch. Users can share changes in real time or invite others to make changes together at the same time. This word processor has basic functions for educators and students to use without purchasing outside software, however, special effects are limited. Presentations does not allow voice narration. Documents would need to be downloaded to your computer to maintain adequate storage space. Teachers can allow students to practice preparing documents and correspondences. Students can also do presentations sharing what they have learned in the course. Once establishing your account with Google Docs, you will have access to other Google online applications, such as Gmail, calendar, RSS reader--to name a few.
Roxio Photoshow is a fantastic application piece. It allows you to upload, edit, and share your photos with others by email or through your social networking site. You can edit photos by adding your own style of effects, including music. The free version does have a good source of effects available, however, an upgrade purchase is needed for premium services. Photoshow allows up to 25MB of online storage, so it would be at your advantage to download finished work to maintain storage space. Teachers and students, both can have use of this application. Students can be required to take pictures all year long, capturing their educational experiences. Students can then prepare a year end project, presenting their own personal storyline to share with the teacher and the class. Students can allow everyone to watch and comment on their presentations through their blog.
MySpace social networking site is one of the most popular sites in cyberspace, allowing communication all over the world.. It is a natural platform for education. Teachers and students are able to communicate 24 hours. Teachers are able to post and comment on assignments, and students can receive feedback from teachers and make daily blogs right on their MySpace page. MySpace also have other web applications available such as photo sharing, calendar, and RSS reader. Although it is a good platform to learn, some schools have ban students from using MySpace while in the classroom. However, with a good monitoring system in place, MySpace is a creative space to learn.
Let's do a quick review. In the 21st Century, we need to think, become, and live cyber, and embrace Web 2.0 technology. Why, because it is free, convenient and online. Web based applications can help educators and students, practice, learn, share, connect, and create. Web based applications mentioned in this presentation are worth you checking out.
