Dehydration Effects
Dehydration Effects
Dehydration is the excessive loss of water resulting in depletion of body fluids (Grosvenor amp;
Smolin, 2006, p. 282). When the body goes through dehydration there can be many symptoms. Some
of these symptoms can include: feelings of nausea, light headedness, and feeling dizzy. Dehydration
can cause symptoms to show more rapidly than any other vitamin deficiency. With other vitamin
deficiencies, days or weeks can pass before symptoms are felt by the body (Grosvenor amp; Smolin,
2006). Symptoms can be seen when dehydrated after only an hour of activity on a hot day. Water is
essential to health maintenance because the human body is more than half water. The typical adult s
body weight is about 60% water. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The minor symptoms of dehydration will go away quickly after replacing the lost water but if left
untreated medical attention may be necessary. While it may be difficult to consume too much water,
overhydrating can be as dangerous as dehydrating. Water toxicity can be the result of consuming too
much water. Some of the early symptoms of water toxicity can be similar to dehydration. Nausea,
muscle cramps, disorientation, and confusion are just some of the symptoms of water toxicity. To help
prevent water toxicity it is recommended that beverages containing dilute solutions of sodium as well
as sugar, such as sports beverages, be used to replace water losses when exercise continues for more
than an hour (Grosvenor amp; Smolin, 2006, p. 287). Electrolytes are important because they help
maintain acid base in the body. Electrolytes are substances that separate in water to form positively
and negatively charged ions that conduct an electrical current (Grosvenor amp; Smolin, 2006, p. 287).
The three key electrolytes in the body are sodium, potassium, and chloride. It is important to control
the amount of sodium excreted from the body because sodium helps to regulate blood pressure. If the
body loses more sodium than it takes in blood pressure can drop. When this happens the body will
release proteins and hormones to help the kidneys retain water and sodium. Renin is an enzyme that

Bill Merrilees and Dale Miller
Department of Marketing, Griffith University, Gold Coast, Australia
Abstract
Purpose The paper aims to highlight the importance of corporate rebranding in branding practice,
which is neglected in theoretical treatment, so an extended theory is to be developed.
Design/methodology/approach From the literature, the existing state of the theory of corporate
rebranding is articulated. That theory is extended by the development of six principles and by case
research. The principles are illustrated in the case of a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
With corporate branding, organisational issues may well involve some changes, but the emphasis is on
getting all units to adhere consistently to policy and procedure specifications (such as common
letterheads or business cards, or the use of colours). However, with corporate rebranding, all units
need to be moved from one mindset/culture to another. Although there are some common issues, the
virtues of a corporate rebranding framework include: . explicit focus on how and to what extent the
corporate brand should be changed;
.
emphasis on justifying the brand revision both benefits and costs;
.
greater sensitivity to potential internal resistance to the brand change and thus a need for a well
structured change management program to get brand buy in; and
.
highlighting the need to alert all stakeholders to the new brand.
Shifting focus from corporate branding to corporate rebranding, we find less research or consensus.
An early academic paper on rebranding was Berry s (1988) summary of
Ogilvy and Mather s brand revitalisation program. A common trigger for revitalising brands is under
performance (Kapferer, 1997). Using renaming, a narrow approach to rebranding, both Muzellec et al.
(2003) and Muzellec and Lambkin (2006) found that structural factors such as mergers and
acquisitions were the main drivers of rebranding, with brand image improvement ranked lower. Before

J.B. Priestley s An Inspector Calls Essay
J.B. Priestley s An Inspector Calls
In the play An inspector calls by JB priestly, there are a range of dramatic devices used, you can see
foreshadowing; where the characters hint at things that you see or learn later. There are the entrances
and exit; the dramatic ways that these are used. Also the climatic curtain is used, leaving the readers
on a cliff hanger. And finally dramatic irony and denouement are used. All these dramatic devices add
up to a brilliant play, about a family who are having a quite night in, when they are disturbed at the
dinner table, by a police inspector directing an inquiry on a girl s suicide, and as the story unravels we
learn about each characters part to play. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Finally we learn that Sheila has a bad temper when Eric says, She s got a nasty temper sometimes…
(Page5) This is a crucial point, as her temper plays an important part later in the play.
Throughout the play the author, JB Priestly uses entrances and exits to dramatically make characters
enter or leave scenes. The first entrance (page10) is the inspectors. My first impression of the
inspector when he first arrives in the book, is that of a very serious and clever man, a man that takes
his work very seriously, we see an example of this when Mr. Birling says, Have a glass of port or a
little whiskey? and the Inspector replies, No, thank you, Mr. Birling. I m on duty. This shows that he
abides by the rules or his work. I think that the other characters where a little bit surprised at the news
of an inspector arriving, as one would be if an unexpected inspector arrived. This is shown when Mr.
Birling says, An inspector? What kind of inspector?
Sheila makes the next dramatic move (page21), this time an exit, when she runs out of the room after
seeing a picture of Eva Smith. The inspector shows her the photo and she runs away as we can see
here, He produces the photograph. She looks at it closely, recognises it with a little cry, gives a half
stifled sob and then runs out. This tells the audience that Sheila has seen this girl before and

Disadvantages Of Co-Branding
Many companies in today s world of globalisation and with increasing pressure to become cost
effective and efficient, are looking for different ways to increase brand equity, brand affinity and in
general to expand their brand awareness (Stutz Schaffner, 2011). One consideration for companies in
answer to this is co branding strategies. As well as reinforcing brand image and, co branding has also
become an increasingly strategic tool to capture higher market share and increase profits and is seen to
have the advantage of gaining access to new markets (Swaminathan, 2006). Advances in technology
have made co branding possibilities more accessible to many companies (Rid Pfoertsch, 2013). Co
branding can be described as the combining of two or more brands into a joint product or when they
are marketed together in some way (Kotler Armstrong, 2012) or with two or more brand names being
are presented to the customer jointly (Rao, Qu, Ruekert, 1999).
The advantages to companies of embarking on any co branding undertaking are well described
(Grebosz Otto, 2013; Stutz, 2011; Swaminathan, 2006) and almost considered even as a win win for
many organisation (Washburn, Till, Priluck, 2004). However, there ... Show more content on

Brand extension can be either when a brand is extended into the same product category or into a new
product category. Aaker and Keller (1990) describe this co branding strategy as when a new product or
service uses an existing brand name that had been associated with it before the extension. The strategy
is that the brand equity and brand image of the brands used to create what is called the extension,
transfers to the extension (Hadjicharailambous, 2013). This brand image quality of the existing or
parent brands, and the perceived brand fit that are the main factors that influence the success of the
extension (Meyvis, Goldsmith, Dhar,

Human Spinal Deformities Using 3d Reconstruction Techniques
Literature Survey on Human Spinal Deformities using 3D Reconstruction Techniques
Introduction:
Spine and its deformities: Scoliosis is a complex three dimensional (3 D) deformation of the trunk that
requires orthopedic treatment in 5 out of 1000 persons [1]. It is described as a lateral deviation of the
spine (Fig. 1), combined with asymmetric deformation and axial rotation of the vertebrae, deformation
of the rib cage and possibly of the pelvis.
The human spine is divided into cervical (7 vertebrae C1 C7), thoracic (12 vertebrae Tl T12), and
lumbar (5 vertebrae L1 L5) sections above a fused sacrum (Fig. 2). While the spine normally has no
lateral curvature, there are normal side view curves including lumbar lordosis, thoracic kyphosis and
cervical lordosis. Scoliotic curves are considered thoracic when the apex lies between T2 and T11,
thoracolumbar at T12 L1, and lumbar from L2 L5. Each vertebra consists of an anterior weight
bearing vertebral body and posterior elements that protect the spinal cord and enable muscular and
ligamentous attachments (Fig. 3). Particularly in severe scoliotic curves, asymmetric loads on the
vertebrae encourage asymmetric growth of the vertebral elements, with one result being that despite a
substantial underlying spinal curve the spinous processes may deform to produce a relatively straight
line on the back surface. The spine, composed of vertebrae connected by fluid filled intervertebral
discs, is a loose and

Bob Marley, By Robert Nesta Marley
Robert Nesta Marley, commonly known as Bob Marley , was born on February 6, 1945 in St. Ann s,
Jamaica. Marley was son of a white man named Norval Marley and black lady named Cedilla Marley
Boker. Due to Marley being mixed he was always rejected growing up (MacDonald). Many people
disliked him due to his rastafarian ways of life. Bob Marley has differing views, society s naive
perception that all he does is smoke marijuana and what is really true he was an inspirational musician
that wanted to unite the world. As commonly known Bob Marley was a rastafarian, being a rastafarian
and having dread locks meant that one voweled not to brush or cut their hair. Bob Marley took his
dreadlocks as his identity. Also being a rastafarian meant living a certain way, the way one ate, treated
other people, and smoking marijuana was part of their religion not just to get high. In the Marley
Documentary, Bob Marley says Christ promised to mankind that him will return within 2000 years
and when him return him will be the king of kings through the lineage of king Solomon and king
David now we look there to see who is this one man , Haile Selassie I stating that they believed the
Emperor of Ethiopia was Christ returning. Rastafari was also taken from his name, he was called Ras
Tafari (MacDonald). Bob Marley s music career started off with the Wailing Wailers (Bob Marley
Biography). As the group was becoming popular they began to struggle financially, which caused the
group to fade away.

Mental Illness In Macbeth
Shakespeare, Browning, and Carol Ann Duffy attempt to display their characters in such ways in order
to address heavy social issues within the times in which they were alive, through various writing
techniques.
It is important that we define the term disturbed in order to answer this question to high quality
standard. An adjective that describes the symptoms of mental illness, and psychosis. All traits of
which the writers characters possess.
Shakespeare evidentially displays Macbeths committing regicide in order to address the consequences
of treason towards the reader. Regicide was considered more than just murder back in Shakespearian
time; it could be compared to killing a God. Shakespeare deservingly uses the three witches in order ...

The use of guilt and sin must have been eccentric for Shakespeare, living amongst such a religious
audience, and yet writes so powerfully to which was seen against the words of God. Macbeth s sins
plunge him into a pit of guilt, leading him to an unstable state of mind, contributing to his disturbed
mind set. This slightly contrasts to Carol Ann Duffy s Education for Leisure as the orator doesn t seem
to feel any guilt or sympathy for the sins in which he has committed, unlike Macbeth who to which
changed his attitude., One cried, God bless us! and Amen, the other, as they had seen me with these
hangman s hands. List ning their fear, I could not say Amen, when they did say God bless us .
Methought, I heard a voice cry, Sleep no more! Macbeth does murder sleep . This quote is spoken to
which by Macbeth after he is finished murdering King Duncan, the phrase Macbeth does murder sleep
cunningly refers to how Macbeth will suffer horribly from his actions by his guilt. The insomnia that
Macbeth suffers displays how he is uncomfortable after making a decision to try and claim his
manhood. Robert Browning The laboratory contrasts immensely to Macbeth, as the orator gets
pleasure out of the sins in which he/she has committed. Furthermore to which goes against the belief
of God, Empty church, to pray God in, for them! I am here so to which, his sins have no meaning,
which means there is no barrier blocking him from gaining his pleasure from his doings. However it
does slightly link in with another one of Robert Browning s pieces Porphyria s lover , it is clearly
evident that the orator has no sympathy what so ever for his victim, which he strangles to death, seen
as one of the most painful ways to die, but in order to cover his sins he try s to persuade himself that it
was a happy moment, The smiling rosy

Enhancing Athletic Performance While Reducing Injuries Essay
Enhancing Athletic Performance While Reducing Injuries In hockey you need both general fitness and
specific fitness. You need good strength, stamina, speed, agility, balance, co ordination, fast reactions
and many more. All these can help every individual become better at their sport and have better health.
These fitness needs can also prevent many injuries as you are less agile to your sport. Fitness levels
can also be affected by many things such as illness, weight, alcohol and drugs, dieting and
psychological factors.

The same injuries can occur in many different sports in different situations but there can be more
common injuries in each individual sport such as legs in football, shoulder or arm in javelin and hands
or ankles in netball etc. Environmental injuries are things such as frostbite, hypothermia, exhaustion
and heat stroke. Injuries can also occur due to physiological reasons making the person become
fatigue, have muscle soreness and depletion of energy reserves. Before carrying out a session in the
individual sport, a risk assessment should be preformed as there are others risk factors that should be
identified such as slippery surfaces, equipment left out, food or drink that may be tipped in the training
area. You can outline whether or not the area is suitable for that sport or the right age group and if not,
how the safety issues could be improved. You also have to take into consideration the age of the
sportsperson as already mentioned.
In hockey, it is important that the right equipment and footwear is worn to prevent injuries and to have
a pre game warm up and stretching. Overall, a hockey team needs to wear gum shields to protect their
mouth and teeth from hockey balls and sticks, shin guards to protect their legs from sticks also, body
protection such genital protectors, gloves to protect hand and knuckles from sticks, Astroturf trainers

One of the reasons for Apollos mission to the moon was to find evidence of water. For instance, one
source confirms that One of the main aims of the Apollo missions of the 1960s was to determine
whether the moon had any water on it. If man were to build a colony on the moon, having water
present would make living there easier (Anand, Barnes, Mortimer, and Tartese). As research continued
scientist finally found evidence of water on lunar poles. Source admits that This polar water on the
moon was confirmed by American space agency NASA s LCROSS mission in 2010. Then, another

Changes in Pension Accounting Over Time Have Improved...
Pensions are financial arrangements that allow individuals to receive an income stream during their
retirement years (Tatum, 2011). They are found in government institutions, private businesses,
professional groups and various other settings. Pensions funds can be found as a part of an institutions
or as an independent plan. Pension plans are a major participant in the capital markets. For example,
consider the fact that Ontario Teachers Pension Plan has a net asset value of $96.4 billion at the end of
December 31, 2009. Due to the large stake of pension plans in the local and global economy, there is a
persistent pressure to improve pension accounting. These changes have gained momentum with the

In the DC plan, the final benefits are unknown, but there are fixed contributions whereas in the DC
plan, because there is promise of a numerical benefit, the contributions vary as a result of time value
of money. This fundamentally means that the risk for the final benefit payout in the DB plan is borne
by the employer whereas in the DC plan, the pensioner bears this risk (Beechy Conrad, 2008).
Contributions to a pension fund are an expense for the employer, hence to describe in simple terms, on
a per pay basis, an employer will credit the pension fund with amount of pension funds the employee
is entitled to. This amount is the present value of the future payment stream payable to the employee
upon retirement (Beechy Conrad, 2008). The present value calculations of these obligations require
estimates of factors such as: investment earnings, future salary increases, employee turnover, mortality
rates, and life expectancy after retirement (Beechy Conrad, 2008). Actuarial models are used to
generate the probabilities used to calculate the pension obligation today, that will result in the
promised payout in the future. While companies do not have to worry about the funding status of DC
plans, those that offer the DB plan bear the perpetual burden of ensuring that the plans are funded.
There are three basic actuarial methods that can be used by an employer to fund the plan. The first
method is the accumulated benefit

Analyzing Alienated Labor in Regards to Democracy
The strive to maximize profits causes firms to mass produce commodity goods, which forces workers
to dedicate a large portion of their time to their labor. The efficiency of mass production is certainly
questionable, as economists like Keynes predicted that, given the massive technological leaps that
nations such as the United States and Great Britain were already making, the average work week
would be reduced to between fifteen and twenty hours a week by the twenty first century (Graeber,
Bullshit Jobs ). While it appears that the technological advancements Keynes expected came to
fruition, the average work week currently sits around

It is not a large stretch to assume that most of the sweatshop workers employed by Nike have never
worn any of the items that they had a part in producing, which serves to create an effect of resentment,
as those workers view Nike products as a reminder of their servitude and likely nothing more.
Like the product of one s labor, the process of labor itself can also be a source of estrangement for
workers in a capitalistic society. When workers have no influence on the circumstances surrounding
their production, they can be treated as commodities. Those that are working in sweatshops are often
doing so out of necessity, which gives firms control over laborers as they dominate the means of
production and therefore have more leeway in regards to practices such as forcing workers to endure
improper conditions or providing low wages. Firms like Nike can easily establish monopolies in the
market for cheap labor in developing nations like Indonesia, eliminating the competition for wages
along with any possibility of class ascendance. The result of this is the existence of laborers who are
completely disconnected from the undertaking of their work, as it only serves as both a means of
subsidence and a reminder of one s reliance on the bourgeoisie. Naturally, the laborer will feel that the

Miss Peregrine s Home For Peculiar Children
Miss Peregrine s Home for Peculiar Children is a science fiction novel that was presented to the
reading world in 2011 by Ransom Riggs. This year the characters of Riggs s novel made their way to
the big screen under the direction of Tim Burton. While critics rave about the wonders of Burton s
skills to transform the novel into a believable reality, I have some other views. My views dig past the
screen and break apart the struggles and decisions Burton made while directing. While I agree with
Hoffman, who noted this film is Tim Burton s best in 20 years (2016), there are some scenes that left
me confused and upset. To begin breaking down the adaptation, it must first be placed in a category.
This category tells us which form of adaptation it is and what we can expect under these
circumstances. I, personally, categorize this as a pluralist adaptation. During my screening of the film,
I spent a good chunk of my time looking for the analogies and similarities between the two. This made
it much easier to pick out the differences that lead me to conclude that the adaptation was pluralist in
nature. I also noticed how the film stuck quite closely to the novel s spirit, this made the film more
inviting and accurate. Riggs himself said in an interview that [Burton] took the ideas I had and made
them bigger and more vibrant than I d imagined (Riggs, 2016). Another characteristic of the film that
made it a pluralist adaptation is how much it exists as its own production; yet many

Fukushima Nuclear Disaster
1. Abstract
The earthquake which took place on March 11, 20111 in the Tohuku District, Japan triggered a
massive tsunami which eventually caused a nuclear power plant outbreak. The tsunami, 14 metres in
height struck the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear plant, which is located in the towns of Okuma and Futaba
in the Fukushima Prefecture. This resulted in loss of power to the reactors of Units 1, 2 and 3.Along
with this damage, the cooling system failed to work and there were hydrogen explosions which ended
in damaging the nuclear plant. The damages also include extensive release of radioactive substances
into our atmosphere and our earth. This accident certainly did loads of damages to Japan and its

Compare And Contrast Alternative Family And Nuclear Family
The nuclear family vs. alternative family structure
Initially a picture of a nuclear family would best describe a so called family but today alternative
family structure is increasing because of the changing nature of families. This is due to things such as
technology, changing structure of families e.g. women entering workplace and divorce rate that cause
s initial structure to be broken down as people live as they please. In this essay nuclear family
structure verses the alternative family structure will be discussed through sociological imagination. A
family is a group of people that are interlinked through blood, the law (marriage), co residence or
share the same resources. They are further described as adults of the same sex with children. Through

difference in these structures, from financial security to emotional security, makes it flexible for
people to move about because of the decrease in dependence on men from women. This had been said,
does not make the people incapable of raising of children, but highlights their level of independency.
They are also able to provide a safe and nutritious life for their children as in nuclear families.
This structure also comes with great benefits like children not getting exposed to conflict that may
detriment them physically and emotionally due to things such as parents fighting, they develop a

women were made weaker by male dominated society. Women were bounded between two walls of

poultry, beef, lamb, fish, etc., in water for a long period of time. Bone are usually cook anywhere
between 6 hours to 45 hours. When finish the bone are strained from the liquid and discarded. The
broth is left with all the nutritious from the bones.
Bone Broth contains a high amount of antioxidants, vitamins, and many minerals, which include
calcium, silicon, sulfur, magnesium, glucosamine, phosphorus, and chondroitin sulfates. the broth also
contains lots of gelatin which is extremely healing and two important amino acids, proline and
glycine. The glycine is needed by the liver to detox the body.

Bone broth helps heal your gut, this include any kind of gastrointestinal challenge you may
have...from constipation, diarrhea, food sensitivities, leaky gut, to autoimmune disease. The broth is
able to help with gut problem due to the gelatin found in the bone. The gelatin in the broth spackles
the excess holes in the gut lining.
What cause problem with the gut? Your intestinal lining is permeable, when your healthy, in order for
nutrients to pass through, but the lining can become too permeable due to lifestyle factors like poor
diet, long term contraceptive use, stress, bacterial and fungal overgrowths. Example, leaky gut (gut
hyperpermeability) is when undigested food particles slip through the gut lining and pass directly into
the bloodstream. When this happens the immune system freaks out and will start attacking the food
you eat, these is known as food sensitivities. With enough time it can turn into an autoimmune issue,
where your immune system thinks your thyroid or any other tissues looks like food and your body

Closed Loop Essay
Abstract Closed loop feedback control approaches allow precise, real time control of neural activity
pattern to lock spiking activity to specific target spiking rate within neural network. This approaches
enable investigators to tune the internal brain state into a desired state, induce or disrupt the related
frequency of neural network in order to achieve a specific functionality. Here we implement a
continuous, precise closed loop feed back control to lock the firing rate at specific targeted spiking
activities in moto cortex of isoflurane anesthetized rats and in a computational network level model.
We found that controllability of neural activity strikingly varies as neural state changes, furthermore
we found it trade off between ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Why does a quiescent animal evoke a larger response and adaptation comparing to an active and
awake animal? There is a hypothesis that when cortex maintains the synchronized state in an
anesthetized and quiescent awake animal, synapses are often in resting state so they are electrically
less active. Therefore, they can save energy to perform other functions [26, 27]. Also, when the cortex
evokes a large response to the first stimulus in a high repetitive stimulus within synchronization, it
leaves less energy for response to other stimuli in the train therefore the response would suppress
stronger in synchronized than the desynchronized state. Despite apparent complex state dependency of
cortical response, investigators developed a simple excitable model to predict subsequent sensory
response using background ongoing activity prior to the presentation of stimuli, they estimated the
parameters of the model using spontaneous activity prior to the onset of stimuli. Model dynamics was
changed to reproduce different cortical states, a nonlinear, self exciting system generated synchronized
state and a linear system in reproduced desynchronized states. response to an isolated unattended
stimulus was quantitatively predicted on a trial by trial basis using a simple dynamical system, it was
shown that response is generated based on the same dynamics as spontaneous activity [28]. Closed

Homo Sacer Sovereign Power And Bare Life
In this modern era, the value of life is what makes sacrifice meaningful. In Agamben s Homo Sacer:
Sovereign Power and Bare Life he discusses the concept of homo sacer, which is a body that can be
killed but not sacrificed. He also talks about the state of exception and how the sovereign exception
(as zone of in distinction between nature and right) is the presupposition of the juridical reference in
the form of its suspension. (Agamben 21) This concept can be related to the issues involving drones
and drone warfare. In Gregoire Chamayou s A Theory of the Drones, he focuses on how drones are
transforming the laws of wars, and radicalizing certain aspects in warfare, that is bringing in a new era
with immoral dimensions. This could alter the political arena for the countries that already use them.
(13) The danger therefore, does not lie with the drone operators, as they no longer face the danger of
being exposed to the enemy, this has also immunized them to the possible trauma of reflecting upon
their own violence because they are viewing everything though a screen a thousand miles away. The
real danger lies with society as a whole with the politics of waging war removed from the purview of
citizens, this affects societies continued ability to critique or reject violence.
Concepts of Agamben
Agamben discusses several topic such as the homo sacer, sovereignty, and the states of exception,
according to Agamben, sovereignty is the law s threshold with the nonlegal, a

Informative Essay On Marsupials
What number comes to your mind when you think of a group? In your mind, you probably thought of
a number between 2 6 people. However, in a kangaroo group, a group might consist of 100 kangaroos!
The reason they create a large group is because they are very social animals. Today I will give you
information over kangaroos, what diet and habitat they have, and how they get along with humans.
Did you know that a kangaroo is also referred as a marsupial! Just like any other animal, a marsupial
can be different in color, type, or size. A marsupial can be classified into one of the four types that
exist today. They can be assigned to either the red marsupials, eastern or western gray marsupials, or

leaves, moss, and vegetables. Being a herbivores is an advantage to kangaroos.
The reason why being herbivores is an advantage is because they do not depend on water in order to
survive. They can go for long period of not drinking water because they get water from the plants they
consume. Do you know where kangaroos like to eat? At ihop!

below aspects.
Financial Management
The foundation maintained a total revenue of 64 million, and a total expense of 77 million, which
meant the foundation was a mid sized non profit organization.
Based on the given financial data, and the foundation s previous IRS 990 filings, the foundation ended
in negative for the year of 2012 as 8 million, but they recovered in 2013 with a black ending of 47
million, however they ended at 48 million which was still a negative result for the organization. This
alarming situation showed the deficient ability of the foundation to prepare its budget.

Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Research Paper
Severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS) is an extremely rare, deleterious disease caused by a type
of viral pathogen called a coronavirus. The disease first appeared among residents of southern China,
near Hong Kong, in 2002. Over the course of eight months, the disease spread to up to 8,000
individuals, 10% of which died. As a contagious viral pandemic, SARS diffused to nearly 30 countries
by 2003, including Germany, Canada, and the United States. However, by 2004, all cases of SARS
disappeared and have not reappeared anywhere since then. After considerable research, scientists
discovered that the infection was caused by a single stranded RNA coronavirus. The virus was so
named due to the several corona like spikes that were known to protrude from the molecule. Because
SARS suddenly attracted widespread attention when it was first identified in China in 2002, the virus
was classified as an emerging infectious disease. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Even when the body goes to sleep, the mind stays up all night, telling itself stories. There is a feeling

Comparing The Time Period Of Joseph Hansberry s The Sun
As you begin to compare the time period in which A Raisin in the Sun was written, the 1950s, and
now, you can find many similarities and differences regarding racial equality in the Chicagoland, even
more specifically the south side. The Younger family, deriving from the African American descent, in
Lorraine Hansberry s play, has trouble finding happiness when they are surrounded by successful
white people, while they are stuck living in a two bedroom apartment and struggle to make ends meet.
In the 1950s, it was much harder for African Americans to find jobs where they could make a
substantial living to provide for their families, but in today s society the opportunities for the black
race have improved immensely, although a problem with their pay grade still persists. On the other
hand, the two time periods are similar in the respect that the environment on the Southside of Chicago
today is very similar to what it was like almost 60 years ago. Additionally, just like in the play, police
force continues to be an issue, whether that be because they favor a certain race, or police brutality;
shooting people with the wrong intentions. More problems that exist today include, gang violence,
protests, and segregated schools in the poorer black communities. While the Chicagoland continues to
struggle with problems regarding racial equality, they have made many improvements such as the
development of organizations to keep children off of the streets and out of trouble as well as

I Have Always Loved Science Since A Young Age
I have always loved science since a young age. During high school, I began experimenting with all the
different science classes, that the school had to offer. Out of all of those classes I found the one that
brought an incredible amount of fascination. That class was Botany where I had studied plants and
learned their functions. I learned about how they grow from a seed to how they reproduce. Even with
that class, I have always found that plants bring a certain amount of curiosity. I had dreamt many ways
to the perfect yard with all sorts of plant species. The yard would be overflowing with plants. Also, the
house would have so many plants inside that it would be a jungle. The courses required for botany are
very heavy with science. I know that I will be taking fifteen different science classes. I looked forward
to the challenges that each class will bring. During the time in my freshman year, I would like to know
what reading and writing, I will need for botany also known as plant science.
I looked in greater detail into Botany, I came to very interesting details about what my major will
include. I gathered all sorts of facts from different sources about Botany. Plant science is a hand on
very skilled profession. It requires a lot of experience and skills to work in the basic field of it. Botany
is very broad science of plants. Different scientist studies certain parts of plants and their functions.

Fooled By Infatuation Summary
(Intro)Comic books have been around since the dawn of man. Mankind has been telling stories
without the use of technology, such as: typewriters, computers, or any paper material. There are cave
paintings around the world that date back thousands of years, which depict cavemen hunting animals
and depictions of animals within the caves. Women have also been included in the paintings not just
men since they also fed their families and hunted to keep them safe. In today s comic books, women
are represented as sexual objects, not as mature, strong, or as smart as men are depicted in the same
stories. Women appear in comics for the simple purpose of flaunting their bodies which boosts sales

Learning from the shortfalls and mistakes of a relationship is a salutary experience which will enable
women to do better the next time (9) In one of the short stories Fooled by Infatuation, for instance, a
girl loses her stability because of an obsession with another boy she finds she does not like. The
foolish or flamboyant acts committed by youngsters are a normal part of growing up. The notion is
that it does not matter if you are never caught; it is what you learn from the experience that counts. In
romance comics, the poor girls suffer and suffer; but in Dana Dutchs stories her female protagonist
never suffered, no matter the situation. In her stories, they never had to beg the boy s forgiveness,
either. Not all romance stories show women in daunting situations regarding a boy or trying to fool
around and fall in love. Most writers such as Dutch thought about how there is more to girls falling in
love and going crazy for a boy then going through the typical story of a girl going crazy for a boy and
willing to do anything to win his heart. But it still feels as though these stories became repetitive and

In fact, the evidence is so inconclusive, contradictory, and vague that reasonable doubt abounds when

The evidence linking Peltier to the shooting of the either of the agents is non existent. First, there are
major problems with linking Peltier to any gun that may have caused a fatal injury. According to FBI
documentation, the FBI found a damaged AR 15 rifle in the burned out car of another AIM activist,
Robert Robideau, who was also at the Jumping Bull Compound on the day of June 26, 1975
(Incident). The FBI later would assert that the gun was Peltier s, and that it was matched to a shell
casing found in the trunk of one the agents cars.
However, according to a documented FBI ballistics test carried out on October 12, 1975, the AR 15
rifle found in Robideau s car didn t match bullet found on the scene; even if it is assumed to be Peltier
s gun, the gun cannot be linked to any bullets found in the crime scene (Incident). The FBI also did
another, less effective form of test on the bullet that showed that the bullet might have come from the
damaged gun. (Incident) However, since the second method of testing was more prone to fault, error,

Surface Breakdown
Dirt, sand and grit are the primary enemies of hardwood floors. These common household ingredients
especially if you have kids around, act as deadly sandpaper on the finish of your floors.
Sweeping, vacuuming and dust mopping are essential to maintaining your floors and to keep them
looking like new and in great shape. Brooms with ends that have frayed tips are the best for picking up
bits of sand and dirt on the floor. Dust mopping is effective as well. If you use a spray on the mop
head, it is advisable to spray the mop head the night before for added effectiveness.
Types of Wood Floor Finishes
There are two types of finishes: surface finishes and penetrating seals. Determining the type of seal
will help you determine how to maintain your floors. Surface finishes include polyurethane (the most
common), water based polyurethane (second most common), pre finished floors, and catalyzed.
Penetrating seals includes oil finishes, acrylics and waxes. Surface finishes are usually shiny finishes
and penetrating seals are generally satin or matte. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Ash, beech, cherry, hickory and walnut are also commonly used.

The Process for Wood Floor Stain Removal
General staining can be repaired by using the following procedure:
1. Sand the stained area one to two layers of finish off of the board. It would be better to sand the
entire board for a better finish.
2. Remove the dust from the area to keep it from mixing into the refinishing process.
3. Lightly reapply the same finish twice. Do not over apply or you will build up more than you have
removed.
4. If this does not take care of the stain, the entire board will need to be refinished or replaced.

Irish Ireland Research Paper
Despite the Catholic Irish people making up over 80 percent of the population, they were subjugated
to the lower classes to live in squalor. Despite the inherent divide between the Protestant British and
Catholic Irish, Ireland was relatively peaceful for the next century, other than a rebellion led by
Theobald Wolfe Tone and the United Irishmen in 1798. 30,000 people were killed in this rebellion,
which laid the groundwork for the separatist republicanism to come and caused the Act of Union of
1800 to be passed, closing the Irish Parliament in Dublin and giving Protestant London full control
over Catholic Ireland.
The population quadrupled during the peaceful century from 1740 1840, the economy flourished,
Catholics fought for, and gained, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
An Irish nationalist paramilitary organization called the Irish Republican Brotherhood (IRB) was
established in 1858 and worked for the armed expulsion of the British, where the Home Rule Party
worked for the political expulsion. In 1912, the British passed a Home Rule Bill, which gave the Irish
political autonomy, but the bill was never enacted due to the breakout of World War I in 1914. In
1913, two organizations, the nationalist Irish Volunteers (IV) and unionist (pro British) Ulster
Volunteers (UV) were founded in Dublin and Belfast, respectively, and the IV absorbed the IRB. The
two groups were set for a full on conflict before the outbreak of the war, but both sides believed the
national question could be answered after WWI and sent men to the trenches. A small, revolutionary
minority of the IV stayed behind, as they did not want to fight for the British, these men constituted
the IRB, and saw WWI as their time to strike the weakened British. They struck on Easter Sunday in
1916, but were defeated after six days. This became known as the Easter Rising. After the IRB was
defeated, 16 of the leaders were taken to Kilmainham Gaol and executed. Executing the leaders of the
Rising was England s big mistake as it made them martyrs and gave the Irish the momentum they
needed to fight a war of Independence, which began in 1919, and that s where the movie, The Wind

Abolishing Slavery
Jimmy Watson History May 13, 2009 Abolishing Slavery The American civil war had a profound
effect on the lives of slaves. It ultimately resulted in the abolition of slavery. Slaves first arrived in
America in Virginia in 1619. The Underground Railway was a way by which slaves could find
freedom. This was a method for northerners to help escaped slaves to find a place to live in free states
or Canada. Free black Americans were usually the ones to plan and helped with the Underground
Railroad. It is believed about 50,000 to 100,000 people used the Underground Railroad to escape to
their freedom. The Civil War was fought partly over the issue of slavery. The people that lived in the
North opposed the slavery more than the people in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the final days of the war, the Confederacy even considered using blacks as soldiers, offering
freedom as a reward. When given the choice, slaves made it very clear that they wanted emancipation.
The overwhelming majority of slaves, however, remained on their plantations in the countryside. Even
then these slaves in the Southern interior found ways to demonstrate their desire for freedom. They did
not stop working, but they did considerably less work than they had before the war. Lincoln detested
slavery, but he doubted whether blacks and whites could ever live in America in a condition of
equality. The slaves ran away in massive numbers during the spring and summer of 1862, freeing
themselves. Abolitionists who insisted that the war should be one for the freedom of the slaves
confronted Lincoln at home. The Emancipation proclamation in January 1863 did not legally free a
single slave. Through the proclamation Lincoln silenced his abolitionist critics in the North, defused
interventionist sentiment abroad, and invigorated black slave resisters to continue their efforts in the
South. Near the end of the war, abolitionists were concerned that the Emancipation Proclamation
would be construed solely as a war act and no longer apply once fighting ended. They were also
increasingly anxious to secure the freedom of all slaves, not just those freed by the Emancipation
Proclamation. Thus pressed, Lincoln staked a

Describe the different roles in a business buying center....
A.Describe the different roles in a business buying center. Then outline which individuals might play
those roles in the process of buying food for a school cafeteria.
Buying centers have numerous of roles of participation in the purchasing decision process. There are
users who are the people who actually use the goods and services. Their role in the consumer decision
making are very important. The user may help to facilitate the purchase actions by requesting specific
products and they made aid in the development of a specific product s specifications. A prime example

There would be no export expense of coffee beans and the general office of Starbucks in Mexico
could purchase direct from the growers in Mexico to cut cost. The presence of Starbucks would
promote domestic business and will also provide more jobs within that country. Because Starbucks
have most of its coffee beans exported from Latin American as a marketer I would look into building a
grow and processing plant for the production of coffee beans within the country of Mexico. It would
be great for Starbucks to expand more into the coffee market and promote as well as produce a better
product for the world s consumption.
Market growth is important for an expanding company like Starbucks. Farm land and a processing
plant with provide a great deal of economic stability for the country of Mexico and its people. New
jobs would be available and training of different jobs position would now be required. An expansion
of Starbucks would also develop a social cultural relationship with Starbucks and the newly employed
Mexican Starbucks employees. Not only would Starbucks improve the economic status of the people
who would be employed by the company. A plan should be implemented to offer better healthcare and
educational benefits to establish help to move forward for the struggles that directly affect the
Mexican communities while politicizing youth, in the hope that their commitment to fundamental
social change will

Cardiovascular Disease In Women Essay
Introduction The topic I will explore is heart disease in women. The question, what do healthcare
providers need to know about cardiovascular disease in women and how their symptoms and
presentation differ from men will be discussed. Coronary heart disease is the leading cause of death in
women and men in the Western world. Nearly 1 million cardiovascular related deaths a year are
women. Many women s risk factors go unrecognized and untreated by their primary care physician
(Pregler et al., 2009). According to FamilyDoctor.org, American women are 4 to 6 times more likely
to die of heart disease that of breast cancer (2009). In generally men have an earlier onset of heart

Current Evidence Based Status
Crimmins, Hayward, Ueda Saito and Kim in there journal article give statistical data on heart disease
and death in both women and men (2008). This article states 37 percent of men and 27 percent of
women over the age 65 report having a heart condition (Crimmins et al., 2008). Crimmins research
addresses the many differences in men with coronary artery disease compared to women with
coronary artery disease. The study noted that men have a higher mortality rate from heart disease than
do women (Crimmins et al., 2008). This article also notes that 40 50 percent of postmenopausal
women will develop heart disease (Crimmins et al., 2008). Crimmins and colleges noted men develop
heart disease 5 to 10 years earlier in life than do women ( 2008). Evidence suggests that women who
are hospitalized for cardiovascular issues are less likely to receive certain types of drugs and
diagnostic and treatment procedures (Crimmins et al., 2008). Low socio economic status and poor
educational levels also have a marked effect on men and women s knowledge of cardiovascular
disease and the timing of when they seek treatment (Hemingway, 2007). Crimmins and colleges in
their study results noted, on average, the onset for heart disease in men is around 50 to 70 years of age
and 73 years of age for women (Crimmins et al., 2008). There is also marked evidence that many

urban workers and suburban dwellers who looking for a quick service meal, qualify foods and

In my opinion the weaknesses of Panera Bread are the stringent criteria to gain a consideration for a
Panera Bread franchise and the huge amount of initial investment for a Panera Bread bakery cafe
referred in the exhibit 7 in this case which cost approximately 1,003,000 to 2,235,175 dollars plus real
estate and related costs. This may limit the number of franchisees which could be a barrier of the
expanding strategy in the long run. Moreover, because of the company has its own fresh dough
facilities to supply fresh dough daily to both company owned and franchised bakery café , if there is
an accidental problem in deliver process, the store may lack of the fresh dough for producing in store.
Even though the alternative menus such as children s menus, innovative or trendy dishes and the
healthy menu are the opportunities of Panera to extend the target group of customers. The catering
service is the interesting opportunity for the Panera s management team to extend its market to
workplace, schools and parties. In addition, in my opinion expanding to outside United Stats is
another good opportunity to extend the market share as well. According to exhibit 9 in the case, the
direct rival of Panera would be Atlanla Bread Company which its products are almost the same line
with Panera (i.e. fresh baked breads, salads and sandwiches). If the company overpasses this threat
and does not differentiate its products and

The Shot Boundary And Classification Of Digital Video Essay
Shot boundary and classification of digital video is most important step for effective management and

I.INTRODUCTION: The advances in the data capturing, storage, and communication technologies
have made vast amounts of video data available to consumer and enterprise applications [1]. However,
interacting with multimedia data, and video in particular, requires more than connecting with data
banks and delivering data via networks to customers, homes or offices. We still have limited tools and
applications to describe, organize, and manage video data. The fundamental approach is to index
video data and make it a structured media. Manually generating video content description is time
consuming and thus more costly to the point that it s almost impossible. This is because of the
structure of video data,

Tragedies While Climbing Mount Everest Are Caused by Human Error
Especially in terrible weather, every second counts while nearing the top of Mount Everest on an
expedition. A step in the wrong place or a rope hooked to the wrong crag may send a climber falling
thousands of feet into a deep crevasse. Turning an oxygen level the wrong way may leave the air non
breathable to a climber after a few short minutes. These errors happen every season on Everest, no
matter what the conditions are. Whether errors in judgement or just simple mistakes, accidents on
Mount Everest are caused by human error.
During pushes up the mountain, it is easy for climbers to make subtle decisions that may have grave
consequences later on the hike. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Other physical errors involved the precious resource of oxygen atop the mountain. In one instance,
guide Andy Harris refused to believe that a portion of the oxygen canisters stored at the South Summit
contained oxygen, often reporting There s no oxygen here! (qtd. in ITA, 195) After research and tests
other climbers deduced that there was in fact a supply of oxygen just below the top of the mountain
where Harris stood. The misunderstanding by Harris was likely caused by a faulty oxygen register, but
his unwillingness to believe his own tests were wrong confused many struggling climbers. Harris
caused additional trouble while descending the mountain; he turned Jon Krakauer s oxygen level in
the wrong direction on his tank. This caused Krakauer to have a sudden surge of pure oxygen followed
by his canister running out of the gas. The mistakes by Harris and Krakauer caused Krakauer s
schedule of receiving oxygen to be thrown off balance, causing his descent to be severely tougher than
expected.
Climbers neglect of their own physical limitations also caused grief during the climb and descent. The
harsh winds and temperatures of the high altitudes unexpectedly tortured Beck Weathers, who had
undergone eye surgery months before the climb. The conditions caused Beck to lose almost all of his
vision, which obviously impacted his attempt at descending the mountain. If Beck had taken
precautions to

A Family Is Like A Patchwork Quilt
A Family is Like a Patchwork Quilt
What is the meaning of family? The internet will tell you that it is a group consisting of parents and
children living together in a household. But I beg to differ. Family doesn t just consist of several
people living under one roof: no, a family is a living, breathing organism. Family is messy and it takes
effort on everyone s part to make it function correctly. Is there such thing as a perfect family? No,
absolutely not. That s the message that I got from watching Parenthood. Although hilarious, it was an
accurate depiction of a family. I can easily relate to Gill s family, especially Kevin. When I was a little
girl I was anxious about everything. I was anxious over things that really shouldn t be weighing on a
little girls mind. When my family and I would be driving, whether it being across town or across the
state, I was a backseat driver. I would be strapped into my car seat, fretting about the weather or if my
father was getting too close to another car. When I would hear the gas light come on, I would freak
out. I was so terrified that we would run out of gas and be stranded on the road, and I could never
calm down unless we pulled over right that minute at a nearest gas station to fill up the car. Thinking
back now it s kind of a ridiculous fear, but every now and then I still get anxious when the gaslight
comes on. I also relate to Gill so much. I know what it s like to have a dead beat brother. I know what

Introduction
In the spring of 1940 Europe was enveloped in war. The German military machine had already
conquered Poland, Denmark, and Norway. However, not content with northern and eastern expansion,
Adolf Hitler wanted to control the western countries in Europe. Hitler had long been obsessed with
attacking and controlling France. After their defeat in World War I, the German people, government,
and military were humiliated by the enormous post war sanctions leveraged against them from the
Treaty of Versailles. Hitler wanted to defeat and humiliate the French people in the same way that his
country had to experience. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The French knew what kind of war they expected to fight. They also expected, and wanted to fight the
Nazis in Belgium, not on French soil.3
This defensive strategy resulted in military commanders convincing politicians to construct
fortifications across France s borders. These 140 kilometers of fortifications built from 1930 1937
were known as the Maginot Line. While not a fully connected wall of fortifications, they varied in
strength and assets. The strongest, most heavily fortified area of the Maginot line stretched from
France s border with Switzerland and Germany. The Luxembourg and a very small portion of the
Belgium border had smaller, less concentrated defense array. The Maginot Line structures were never
intended to be similar to the Great Wall of China. The true purpose was to provide a formidable
defense and free up manpower to be used in offensive operations somewhere else. Charles de Gaulle,
a decorated and proven French military commander was against a defensive mentality. He proposed
potential war strategies against the Germans, and why the defensive mentality should be abandoned.
In a 1935 Parliament, the French War Minister struck blows against de Gaulle s ideas by saying How
could one think that we are still thinking about an offensive when we have spent billions to establish a
fortified barrier? Would we be mad enough to advance beyond

  • 2. Dehydration Effects Dehydration Effects Dehydration is the excessive loss of water resulting in depletion of body fluids (Grosvenor amp; Smolin, 2006, p. 282). When the body goes through dehydration there can be many symptoms. Some of these symptoms can include: feelings of nausea, light headedness, and feeling dizzy. Dehydration can cause symptoms to show more rapidly than any other vitamin deficiency. With other vitamin deficiencies, days or weeks can pass before symptoms are felt by the body (Grosvenor amp; Smolin, 2006). Symptoms can be seen when dehydrated after only an hour of activity on a hot day. Water is essential to health maintenance because the human body is more than half water. The typical adult s body weight is about 60% water. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The minor symptoms of dehydration will go away quickly after replacing the lost water but if left untreated medical attention may be necessary. While it may be difficult to consume too much water, overhydrating can be as dangerous as dehydrating. Water toxicity can be the result of consuming too much water. Some of the early symptoms of water toxicity can be similar to dehydration. Nausea, muscle cramps, disorientation, and confusion are just some of the symptoms of water toxicity. To help prevent water toxicity it is recommended that beverages containing dilute solutions of sodium as well as sugar, such as sports beverages, be used to replace water losses when exercise continues for more than an hour (Grosvenor amp; Smolin, 2006, p. 287). Electrolytes are important because they help maintain acid base in the body. Electrolytes are substances that separate in water to form positively and negatively charged ions that conduct an electrical current (Grosvenor amp; Smolin, 2006, p. 287). The three key electrolytes in the body are sodium, potassium, and chloride. It is important to control the amount of sodium excreted from the body because sodium helps to regulate blood pressure. If the body loses more sodium than it takes in blood pressure can drop. When this happens the body will release proteins and hormones to help the kidneys retain water and sodium. Principles of Corporate Rebranding The current issue and full text archive of this journal is available at www.emeraldinsight.com/0309 0566.htm Principles of corporate rebranding Principles of corporate rebranding Bill Merrilees and Dale Miller Department of Marketing, Griffith University, Gold Coast, Australia Abstract Purpose The paper aims to highlight the importance of corporate rebranding in branding practice, which is neglected in theoretical treatment, so an extended theory is to be developed. Design/methodology/approach From the literature, the existing state of the theory of corporate rebranding is articulated. That theory is extended by the development of six principles and by case research. The principles are illustrated in the case of a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... With corporate branding, organisational issues may well involve some changes, but the emphasis is on getting all units to adhere consistently to policy and procedure specifications (such as common letterheads or business cards, or the use of colours). However, with corporate rebranding, all units need to be moved from one mindset/culture to another. Although there are some common issues, the virtues of a corporate rebranding framework include: . explicit focus on how and to what extent the corporate brand should be changed; . emphasis on justifying the brand revision both benefits and costs; . greater sensitivity to potential internal resistance to the brand change and thus a need for a well structured change management program to get brand buy in; and . highlighting the need to alert all stakeholders to the new brand. Shifting focus from corporate branding to corporate rebranding, we find less research or consensus. An early academic paper on rebranding was Berry s (1988) summary of Ogilvy and Mather s brand revitalisation program. A common trigger for revitalising brands is under performance (Kapferer, 1997). Using renaming, a narrow approach to rebranding, both Muzellec et al. (2003) and Muzellec and Lambkin (2006) found that structural factors such as mergers and acquisitions were the main drivers of rebranding, with brand image improvement ranked lower. • 4. J.B. Priestley s An Inspector Calls Essay J.B. Priestley s An Inspector Calls In the play An inspector calls by JB priestly, there are a range of dramatic devices used, you can see foreshadowing; where the characters hint at things that you see or learn later. There are the entrances and exit; the dramatic ways that these are used. Also the climatic curtain is used, leaving the readers on a cliff hanger. And finally dramatic irony and denouement are used. All these dramatic devices add up to a brilliant play, about a family who are having a quite night in, when they are disturbed at the dinner table, by a police inspector directing an inquiry on a girl s suicide, and as the story unravels we learn about each characters part to play. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Finally we learn that Sheila has a bad temper when Eric says, She s got a nasty temper sometimes… (Page5) This is a crucial point, as her temper plays an important part later in the play. Throughout the play the author, JB Priestly uses entrances and exits to dramatically make characters enter or leave scenes. The first entrance (page10) is the inspectors. My first impression of the inspector when he first arrives in the book, is that of a very serious and clever man, a man that takes his work very seriously, we see an example of this when Mr. Birling says, Have a glass of port or a little whiskey? and the Inspector replies, No, thank you, Mr. Birling. I m on duty. This shows that he abides by the rules or his work. I think that the other characters where a little bit surprised at the news of an inspector arriving, as one would be if an unexpected inspector arrived. This is shown when Mr. Birling says, An inspector? What kind of inspector? Sheila makes the next dramatic move (page21), this time an exit, when she runs out of the room after seeing a picture of Eva Smith. The inspector shows her the photo and she runs away as we can see here, He produces the photograph. She looks at it closely, recognises it with a little cry, gives a half stifled sob and then runs out. This tells the audience that Sheila has seen this girl before and ... • 5. Disadvantages Of Co-Branding Many companies in today s world of globalisation and with increasing pressure to become cost effective and efficient, are looking for different ways to increase brand equity, brand affinity and in general to expand their brand awareness (Stutz Schaffner, 2011). One consideration for companies in answer to this is co branding strategies. As well as reinforcing brand image and, co branding has also become an increasingly strategic tool to capture higher market share and increase profits and is seen to have the advantage of gaining access to new markets (Swaminathan, 2006). Advances in technology have made co branding possibilities more accessible to many companies (Rid Pfoertsch, 2013). Co branding can be described as the combining of two or more brands into a joint product or when they are marketed together in some way (Kotler Armstrong, 2012) or with two or more brand names being are presented to the customer jointly (Rao, Qu, Ruekert, 1999). The advantages to companies of embarking on any co branding undertaking are well described (Grebosz Otto, 2013; Stutz, 2011; Swaminathan, 2006) and almost considered even as a win win for many organisation (Washburn, Till, Priluck, 2004). However, there ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Brand extension can be either when a brand is extended into the same product category or into a new product category. Aaker and Keller (1990) describe this co branding strategy as when a new product or service uses an existing brand name that had been associated with it before the extension. The strategy is that the brand equity and brand image of the brands used to create what is called the extension, transfers to the extension (Hadjicharailambous, 2013). • 6. Human Spinal Deformities Using 3d Reconstruction Techniques Literature Survey on Human Spinal Deformities using 3D Reconstruction Techniques Introduction: Spine and its deformities: Scoliosis is a complex three dimensional (3 D) deformation of the trunk that requires orthopedic treatment in 5 out of 1000 persons [1]. It is described as a lateral deviation of the spine (Fig. 1), combined with asymmetric deformation and axial rotation of the vertebrae, deformation of the rib cage and possibly of the pelvis. The human spine is divided into cervical (7 vertebrae C1 C7), thoracic (12 vertebrae Tl T12), and lumbar (5 vertebrae L1 L5) sections above a fused sacrum (Fig. 2). While the spine normally has no lateral curvature, there are normal side view curves including lumbar lordosis, thoracic kyphosis and cervical lordosis. Scoliotic curves are considered thoracic when the apex lies between T2 and T11, thoracolumbar at T12 L1, and lumbar from L2 L5. Each vertebra consists of an anterior weight bearing vertebral body and posterior elements that protect the spinal cord and enable muscular and ligamentous attachments (Fig. 3). Particularly in severe scoliotic curves, asymmetric loads on the vertebrae encourage asymmetric growth of the vertebral elements, with one result being that despite a substantial underlying spinal curve the spinous processes may deform to produce a relatively straight line on the back surface. The spine, composed of vertebrae connected by fluid filled intervertebral discs, is a loose and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This slightly contrasts to Carol Ann Duffy s Education for Leisure as the orator doesn t seem to feel any guilt or sympathy for the sins in which he has committed, unlike Macbeth who to which changed his attitude., One cried, God bless us! and Amen, the other, as they had seen me with these hangman s hands. They are found in government institutions, private businesses, professional groups and various other settings. Pensions funds can be found as a part of an institutions or as an independent plan. Pension plans are a major participant in the capital markets. For example, consider the fact that Ontario Teachers Pension Plan has a net asset value of $96.4 billion at the end of December 31, 2009. Due to the large stake of pension plans in the local and global economy, there is a persistent pressure to improve pension accounting. In the DC plan, the final benefits are unknown, but there are fixed contributions whereas in the DC plan, because there is promise of a numerical benefit, the contributions vary as a result of time value of money. This fundamentally means that the risk for the final benefit payout in the DB plan is borne by the employer whereas in the DC plan, the pensioner bears this risk (Beechy Conrad, 2008). Contributions to a pension fund are an expense for the employer, hence to describe in simple terms, on a per pay basis, an employer will credit the pension fund with amount of pension funds the employee is entitled to. This amount is the present value of the future payment stream payable to the employee upon retirement (Beechy Conrad, 2008). The present value calculations of these obligations require estimates of factors such as: investment earnings, future salary increases, employee turnover, mortality rates, and life expectancy after retirement (Beechy Conrad, 2008). Actuarial models are used to generate the probabilities used to calculate the pension obligation today, that will result in the promised payout in the future. While companies do not have to worry about the funding status of DC plans, those that offer the DB plan bear the perpetual burden of ensuring that the plans are funded. Kobee Crown Discussion Section: Gamble 10:00 AM Analyzing Alienated Labor in Regards to Democracy The strive to maximize profits causes firms to mass produce commodity goods, which forces workers to dedicate a large portion of their time to their labor. The efficiency of mass production is certainly questionable, as economists like Keynes predicted that, given the massive technological leaps that nations such as the United States and Great Britain were already making, the average work week would be reduced to between fifteen and twenty hours a week by the twenty first century (Graeber, Bullshit Jobs ). It is not a large stretch to assume that most of the sweatshop workers employed by Nike have never worn any of the items that they had a part in producing, which serves to create an effect of resentment, as those workers view Nike products as a reminder of their servitude and likely nothing more. Like the product of one s labor, the process of labor itself can also be a source of estrangement for workers in a capitalistic society. When workers have no influence on the circumstances surrounding their production, they can be treated as commodities. Those that are working in sweatshops are often doing so out of necessity, which gives firms control over laborers as they dominate the means of production and therefore have more leeway in regards to practices such as forcing workers to endure improper conditions or providing low wages. Firms like Nike can easily establish monopolies in the market for cheap labor in developing nations like Indonesia, eliminating the competition for wages along with any possibility of class ascendance. The result of this is the existence of laborers who are completely disconnected from the undertaking of their work, as it only serves as both a means of subsidence and a reminder of one s reliance on the bourgeoisie. • 13. Miss Peregrine s Home For Peculiar Children Miss Peregrine s Home for Peculiar Children is a science fiction novel that was presented to the reading world in 2011 by Ransom Riggs. This year the characters of Riggs s novel made their way to the big screen under the direction of Tim Burton. While critics rave about the wonders of Burton s skills to transform the novel into a believable reality, I have some other views. My views dig past the screen and break apart the struggles and decisions Burton made while directing. While I agree with Hoffman, who noted this film is Tim Burton s best in 20 years (2016), there are some scenes that left me confused and upset. To begin breaking down the adaptation, it must first be placed in a category. This category tells us which form of adaptation it is and what we can expect under these circumstances. I, personally, categorize this as a pluralist adaptation. During my screening of the film, I spent a good chunk of my time looking for the analogies and similarities between the two. This made it much easier to pick out the differences that lead me to conclude that the adaptation was pluralist in nature. I also noticed how the film stuck quite closely to the novel s spirit, this made the film more inviting and accurate. Riggs himself said in an interview that [Burton] took the ideas I had and made them bigger and more vibrant than I d imagined (Riggs, 2016). Another characteristic of the film that made it a pluralist adaptation is how much it exists as its own production; yet many ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Victor had an infatuation with wanting to play God, most likely inspired by the many alchemists of the time. As soon as the creature breathed his first breath, Victor hated and was disgusted by it. The creature never was able to experience the love and affection he so deserved. It was because of this that the creature did some negative actions. They were in response to feeling unloved. Closed Loop Essay Abstract Closed loop feedback control approaches allow precise, real time control of neural activity pattern to lock spiking activity to specific target spiking rate within neural network. This approaches enable investigators to tune the internal brain state into a desired state, induce or disrupt the related frequency of neural network in order to achieve a specific functionality. Here we implement a continuous, precise closed loop feed back control to lock the firing rate at specific targeted spiking activities in moto cortex of isoflurane anesthetized rats and in a computational network level model. We found that controllability of neural activity strikingly varies as neural state changes, furthermore we found it trade off between ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Why does a quiescent animal evoke a larger response and adaptation comparing to an active and awake animal? There is a hypothesis that when cortex maintains the synchronized state in an anesthetized and quiescent awake animal, synapses are often in resting state so they are electrically less active. Therefore, they can save energy to perform other functions [26, 27]. Also, when the cortex evokes a large response to the first stimulus in a high repetitive stimulus within synchronization, it leaves less energy for response to other stimuli in the train therefore the response would suppress stronger in synchronized than the desynchronized state. Despite apparent complex state dependency of cortical response, investigators developed a simple excitable model to predict subsequent sensory response using background ongoing activity prior to the presentation of stimuli, they estimated the parameters of the model using spontaneous activity prior to the onset of stimuli. Model dynamics was changed to reproduce different cortical states, a nonlinear, self exciting system generated synchronized state and a linear system in reproduced desynchronized states. response to an isolated unattended stimulus was quantitatively predicted on a trial by trial basis using a simple dynamical system, it was shown that response is generated based on the same dynamics as spontaneous activity [28]. • 21. Homo Sacer Sovereign Power And Bare Life In this modern era, the value of life is what makes sacrifice meaningful. In Agamben s Homo Sacer: Sovereign Power and Bare Life he discusses the concept of homo sacer, which is a body that can be killed but not sacrificed. He also talks about the state of exception and how the sovereign exception (as zone of in distinction between nature and right) is the presupposition of the juridical reference in the form of its suspension. (Agamben 21) This concept can be related to the issues involving drones and drone warfare. In Gregoire Chamayou s A Theory of the Drones, he focuses on how drones are transforming the laws of wars, and radicalizing certain aspects in warfare, that is bringing in a new era with immoral dimensions. This could alter the political arena for the countries that already use them. (13) The danger therefore, does not lie with the drone operators, as they no longer face the danger of being exposed to the enemy, this has also immunized them to the possible trauma of reflecting upon their own violence because they are viewing everything though a screen a thousand miles away. The real danger lies with society as a whole with the politics of waging war removed from the purview of citizens, this affects societies continued ability to critique or reject violence. • 36. Essay about Leonard Peltier Should be Released from Prison Leonard Peltier is currently serving time in the Leavenworth federal penitentiary for the shooting deaths of two Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) agents. According to FBI documents, at around 11:50 A.M. on June 26th, 1975, agents Jack Color and Ron Williams were supposedly searching for Jimmy Eagle, a thief wanted for stealing a pair of cowboy boots. The agents encroached on the Jumping Bull Compound in Oglala, South Dakota of the Pine Ridge reservation, in two separate vehicles that no one could recognize (Incident). In this area, there were several members of the American Indian Movement (AIM). After the intrusion of the agents, someone and it is unsure who fired a shot and a shoot out began. In fact, the evidence is so inconclusive, contradictory, and vague that reasonable doubt abounds when one tries to objectively look at the evidence at hand. The evidence linking Peltier to the shooting of the either of the agents is non existent. First, there are major problems with linking Peltier to any gun that may have caused a fatal injury. According to FBI documentation, the FBI found a damaged AR 15 rifle in the burned out car of another AIM activist, Robert Robideau, who was also at the Jumping Bull Compound on the day of June 26, 1975 (Incident). The FBI later would assert that the gun was Peltier s, and that it was matched to a shell casing found in the trunk of one the agents cars. However, according to a documented FBI ballistics test carried out on October 12, 1975, the AR 15 rifle found in Robideau s car didn t match bullet found on the scene; even if it is assumed to be Peltier s gun, the gun cannot be linked to any bullets found in the crime scene (Incident). The FBI also did another, less effective form of test on the bullet that showed that the bullet might have come from the damaged gun. (Incident) However, since the second method of testing was more prone to fault, error, and interpretation of the agents, it should not be used in light of the first. The best the FBI could prove from the test was that the bullet came from ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

These common household ingredients especially if you have kids around, act as deadly sandpaper on the finish of your floors. Sweeping, vacuuming and dust mopping are essential to maintaining your floors and to keep them looking like new and in great shape. Brooms with ends that have frayed tips are the best for picking up bits of sand and dirt on the floor. Dust mopping is effective as well. If you use a spray on the mop head, it is advisable to spray the mop head the night before for added effectiveness. Types of Wood Floor Finishes There are two types of finishes: surface finishes and penetrating seals. Determining the type of seal will help you determine how to maintain your floors. It would be better to sand the entire board for a better finish. 2. Remove the dust from the area to keep it from mixing into the refinishing process. 3. Lightly reapply the same finish twice. An Irish nationalist paramilitary organization called the Irish Republican Brotherhood (IRB) was established in 1858 and worked for the armed expulsion of the British, where the Home Rule Party worked for the political expulsion. In 1912, the British passed a Home Rule Bill, which gave the Irish political autonomy, but the bill was never enacted due to the breakout of World War I in 1914. In 1913, two organizations, the nationalist Irish Volunteers (IV) and unionist (pro British) Ulster Volunteers (UV) were founded in Dublin and Belfast, respectively, and the IV absorbed the IRB. The two groups were set for a full on conflict before the outbreak of the war, but both sides believed the national question could be answered after WWI and sent men to the trenches. A small, revolutionary minority of the IV stayed behind, as they did not want to fight for the British, these men constituted the IRB, and saw WWI as their time to strike the weakened British. They struck on Easter Sunday in 1916, but were defeated after six days. This became known as the Easter Rising. It ultimately resulted in the abolition of slavery. Slaves first arrived in America in Virginia in 1619. The Underground Railway was a way by which slaves could find freedom. This was a method for northerners to help escaped slaves to find a place to live in free states or Canada. Free black Americans were usually the ones to plan and helped with the Underground Railroad. It is believed about 50,000 to 100,000 people used the Underground Railroad to escape to their freedom. The Civil War was fought partly over the issue of slavery. In the final days of the war, the Confederacy even considered using blacks as soldiers, offering freedom as a reward. When given the choice, slaves made it very clear that they wanted emancipation. The overwhelming majority of slaves, however, remained on their plantations in the countryside. Even then these slaves in the Southern interior found ways to demonstrate their desire for freedom. They did not stop working, but they did considerably less work than they had before the war. Lincoln detested slavery, but he doubted whether blacks and whites could ever live in America in a condition of equality. The slaves ran away in massive numbers during the spring and summer of 1862, freeing themselves. Abolitionists who insisted that the war should be one for the freedom of the slaves confronted Lincoln at home. The Emancipation proclamation in January 1863 did not legally free a single slave. Through the proclamation Lincoln silenced his abolitionist critics in the North, defused interventionist sentiment abroad, and invigorated black slave resisters to continue their efforts in the South. Near the end of the war, abolitionists were concerned that the Emancipation Proclamation would be construed solely as a war act and no longer apply once fighting ended. They were also increasingly anxious to secure the freedom of all slaves, not just those freed by the Emancipation Proclamation. Thus pressed, Lincoln staked a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Other physical errors involved the precious resource of oxygen atop the mountain. In one instance, guide Andy Harris refused to believe that a portion of the oxygen canisters stored at the South Summit contained oxygen, often reporting There s no oxygen here! (qtd. in ITA, 195) After research and tests other climbers deduced that there was in fact a supply of oxygen just below the top of the mountain where Harris stood. The misunderstanding by Harris was likely caused by a faulty oxygen register, but his unwillingness to believe his own tests were wrong confused many struggling climbers. Harris caused additional trouble while descending the mountain; he turned Jon Krakauer s oxygen level in the wrong direction on his tank. This caused Krakauer to have a sudden surge of pure oxygen followed by his canister running out of the gas. The mistakes by Harris and Krakauer caused Krakauer s schedule of receiving oxygen to be thrown off balance, causing his descent to be severely tougher than expected. Climbers neglect of their own physical limitations also caused grief during the climb and descent. The harsh winds and temperatures of the high altitudes unexpectedly tortured Beck Weathers, who had undergone eye surgery months before the climb. The conditions caused Beck to lose almost all of his vision, which obviously impacted his attempt at descending the mountain. If Beck had taken precautions to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The internet will tell you that it is a group consisting of parents and children living together in a household. But I beg to differ. Family doesn t just consist of several people living under one roof: no, a family is a living, breathing organism. Family is messy and it takes effort on everyone s part to make it function correctly. Is there such thing as a perfect family? No, absolutely not. That s the message that I got from watching Parenthood. Although hilarious, it was an accurate depiction of a family. I can easily relate to Gill s family, especially Kevin. When I was a little girl I was anxious about everything. I was anxious over things that really shouldn t be weighing on a little girls mind. When my family and I would be driving, whether it being across town or across the state, I was a backseat driver. I would be strapped into my car seat, fretting about the weather or if my father was getting too close to another car. When I would hear the gas light come on, I would freak out. I was so terrified that we would run out of gas and be stranded on the road, and I could never calm down unless we pulled over right that minute at a nearest gas station to fill up the car. However, not content with northern and eastern expansion, Adolf Hitler wanted to control the western countries in Europe. Hitler had long been obsessed with attacking and controlling France. The French knew what kind of war they expected to fight. They also expected, and wanted to fight the Nazis in Belgium, not on French soil.3 This defensive strategy resulted in military commanders convincing politicians to construct fortifications across France s borders. These 140 kilometers of fortifications built from 1930 1937 were known as the Maginot Line. While not a fully connected wall of fortifications, they varied in strength and assets. The strongest, most heavily fortified area of the Maginot line stretched from France s border with Switzerland and Germany. The Luxembourg and a very small portion of the Belgium border had smaller, less concentrated defense array. The Maginot Line structures were never intended to be similar to the Great Wall of China. The true purpose was to provide a formidable defense and free up manpower to be used in offensive operations somewhere else. Charles de Gaulle, a decorated and proven French military commander was against a defensive mentality. He proposed potential war strategies against the Germans, and why the defensive mentality should be abandoned.
