This document is a science practical report about water. It discusses how water is essential for life on Earth, but only 2.5% of water is freshwater. Most freshwater is frozen in glaciers or stored underground. Water pollution is increasing due to industrialization and human activities. Dams can store large amounts of water and generate electricity, but also displace local communities and cause environmental problems. Ancient water harvesting systems like the Khadin system in Rajasthan collected surface runoff water for agriculture using structures like earthen embankments and reservoirs.
This presentation has the complete information about the water resources based on the points from environmental science in engineering. The points are made so easy it is very easy to understand.
This presentation talks about the Water Uses, Water Forms and Distribution, Availability, Fresh Water Shortage, Water Use Problems and Conflicts Increase Water Supply, Floods and Drought
It talks about the shortage of water all across the globe. So people should use it effectively without unnecessary wastage.

2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.

The French Revolution, which began in 1789, was a period of radical social and political upheaval in France. It marked the decline of absolute monarchies, the rise of secular and democratic republics, and the eventual rise of Napoleon Bonaparte. This revolutionary period is crucial in understanding the transition from feudalism to modernity in Europe.

Operation “Blue Star” is the only event in the history of Independent India where the state went into war with its own people. Even after about 40 years it is not clear if it was culmination of states anger over people of the region, a political game of power or start of dictatorial chapter in the democratic setup.
The people of Punjab felt alienated from main stream due to denial of their just demands during a long democratic struggle since independence. As it happen all over the word, it led to militant struggle with great loss of lives of military, police and civilian personnel. Killing of Indira Gandhi and massacre of innocent Sikhs in Delhi and other India cities was also associated with this movement.

•97 % of the water on the earth is salt water only 2.5 of the total water on
the earth is exists as fresh water .
•Around 70% of fresh water is frozen in glaciers and ice sheets.
•Only 30%of water is stored as ground water.
•The water pollution are caused by increasing industrialization and
human activites.
•Mostly the water bodies get polluted by industrial municipal and
agricultural wastes .

Rainfall pattern means the distribution of rain
geographically, temporally, and seasonally. The
tropics receive more rainfall than deserts. Cooler
places like the poles receive no rainfall, as it is

● Himachal Pradesh had a canal irrigation system
called kulhs where flowing stream water was
diverted to man-made channels which took it to
villages down the hillside.
● The water was used first by the village farthest
from the origin of the kulh. This helped water
percolate in the soil.
● It was made defunct after government irrigation
system took over.
● Dams
● Intervention of government to
pursue mega projects
neglected the local irrigation
methods
● Strict regulations on usage of
stored water and building
tanks, dams and canals
● Optimum cropping patterns
must be followed based on
water availability.
9. dams
● Dams can store large amounts of water and generate
electricity.
● Mismanagement of dams causes exploitation and there is
no equitable distribution of this resource.
● Criticism about large dams address:
(i) Displacement of tribals without compensation
(ii) Corruption and consumption of money without
generation of benefits
(iii) Environmental problems like deforestation.

16. ● A khadin is a construction that is designed to harvest surface
run off water for agriculture.
● It was first designed by the Paliwal Brahmins of Jaisalmer,
western Rajasthan in the 15th century.
● The 'Khadin' system of rainwater harvesting practised in
Rajasthan has a long earthen embankment known as bund,
which is built across the edges of sloping farmlands.
● The rainwater flows down the slope and is stopped by bund.
● It then flows into a reservoir.
● The water in the reservoir seeps into the land and can be used
for growing crops.
● It has a catchment area, bund, saline area and shallow dug well.
● The water from the catchment area flows down and stopped by
the bund.
● It forms a reservoir.
● If the reservoir overflows, the water goes into the shallow dug
well.
● This water from the reservoir and shallow dug well seeps down
the land and refills the ground water.
