ABSTRACT Concrete is an essential material with a worldwide estimated consumption 33(billion tones/year) Worldwide consumption of concrete amounts to more than 1000 Kgs/person. For more than a century, several inclusions have been mixed with Portland cement, but nowadays the most consumed construction material worldwide to improve both the strength and durability required for construction. Approximately 5%–6% of global CO2 emissions originate from the manufacturing of PC. Therefore, PC contributes significantly to the climate change. The present paper describes the different inclusions that can be combined with cement and reviews the achievements like reducing the high carbon footprint of Portland cement, and obtaining new smart features. NEED OF RECYCLING WASTE MATERIALS Rise in population. Large-scale demand for housing. Overstressing the reserves of traditional building materials. Cement material presently not in a position to cope the millions of the country. The enormous amount of waste materials. Recycling becoming imperative & mandatory. ROLE OF WASTE MATERIAL IN CLINKER PRODUCTION Many waste materials contain basic ingredients that are needed for the manufacturing of cement clinker Fly ash can also be used as a source of raw material Lime sludge can be used as a substitute for limestone Red mud a waste material from the production of alumina used as a raw material for cement clinker production Phosphogypsum as a mineralizer for making clinker WHAT IS RICE HUSK ASH (RHA)? Rice husk is protecting outer cover of rice paddy The rice paddy milling industries give the by product rice husk. The RHA is obtained by burning the Rice husk. RHA can be used as supplementary cementitious material. In rice milling operation one ton of rice paddy produces 400kg of rice husk, Burning of husk results in 20% by weight of ash.
