The Enactus team at Warwick University will develop a business plan for Elevate, a new social enterprise being launched by Warwick Gap. Elevate aims to provide motivation workshops for unemployed individuals to encourage them to find work. The Enactus team will analyze the current situation, make recommendations around marketing, partnerships, and funding, and develop an operational plan. They will partner with Brunswick Living Center to provide job skills training. The team will work on this project from November 2014 to March 2015 and provide regular updates and a final future state analysis to Warwick Gap.

Executive Summary
The aim of this document is to provide information on the project that our
team is undertaking on behalf of Warwick Gap. We will outline the problem
that made Warwick Gap ask for the assistance of Enactus Warwick, talk about
the specific scope of our project, show a preliminary project plan, give an
overview of the composition of our Enactus team, state the actual deliverables
that we will provide and refer to the resources that we will need to acquire in
order to successfully finish our project.
The Warwick Gap, is a non-profit organization based in Warwick,
Warwickshire, United Kingdom. It offers social services to the inhabitants of
the area around Warwick. It has been awarded the Queen’s award for
voluntary service in 2013, which shows the quality of the work that it has been
doing. The director of the Warwick Gap is Marcos Campos. Marcos is our
project sponsor and the one communicating with the Enactus team
responsible for the delivery of the project.
Business Case
The Warwick Gap decided to create a new social enterprise by the name of
Elevate and asked our Enactus team to develop its business plan. Elevate’s
aim is to provide workshops that will provide motivation for unemployed
people to find work. The idea came from the fact that a number of charities
exist, offering unemployed people workshops on job related skills, but there
are no charities offering workshops on why it would be beneficial for them to
find work.
Elevate will operate by attracting unemployed people that are happy
with themselves receiving state benefits and giving them reasons
and enlightening them on why it would be beneficial for them to find
a job.
Afterwards, the unemployed will be sent to job centers with which
the Gap partners with (more information on this later on), and they
shall receive training on which skills are important for the workplace
and how to develop them.
Elevate will expose the Gap to a new target group, as so far it is
focused on providing social services for working parents, young
children and old individuals (60+ years)
4. 4
Problem Statement
The problems that are associated with the above plan are the following:
The Gap has difficulty in attracting funding, thus securing necessary
income for the project will be a challenge.
The Gap has no partnerships with other local charities, which would
help both in terms of branding and promotion and in providing
workshops on specific job related skills, after they received the
motivation to work, from the Gap.
The area has the second lowest percentage of unemployed in the
United Kingdom (4.25%). This means, that Elevate will be focused on a
rather small target group.
The Gap does not have expertise in setting up new social enterprise,
so the director is not aware of the steps that should be undertaken in
order to set up the tenterprise.
The Gap is specialized in providing services for older people, working
parents and their children, thus making the existence of Elevate known,
will be quite a challenge as it focuses on a completely different target
group.
Goal Statement
After thinking of possible solutions to the above problems and analyzing
relevant data, we decided to focus on the following aspects:
Establish 2-way beneficial partnerships with other local non-profit
organizations, which offer workshops for job related skills.
Establish a marketing and promotion strategy for Elevate, so that it
becomes well known in its area of interest.
Provide ideas for funding, which could later be exploited by the Gap,
with the aim of increasing the organization’s financial sustainability.

Project Scope Statement
Marketing and Promotion
1. Develop Elevate’s logo, a vision and a mission statement which will
appeal to its target group.
2. Increase the digital presence of the Warwick Gap, by making Elevate
well known through social media promotion and website improvement.
3. Share the marketing channels of its partners in order to increase brand
awareness.
4. Increase brand awareness in the Gap’s existing customers, thus
spreading Elevate’s existence through word of mouth.
Partnerships
1. Collaborate and partner with the Brunswick living center, located in the
area of Leamington Spa, with the aim of guiding unemployed that
found their motivation, so that they receive actual job related skills
training.
2. Make an agreement that a 2-way beneficial marketing and promotion
strategy is established.
Funding
1. Find out about the actual procedure that a charity should undertake in
order to get funding, so that this is communicated to the Warwick Gap
for future use.

There are no specialist roles assigned in our team, as the requirements of the
specific project would result in certain individuals working more than others,
had there been specific roles. Tasks are equally divided between team
members based on needs and the members are held responsible and

People
Apart from the team that is directly involved in the project, the cooperation of
the Director of the Warwick Gap Marcos Campos, is required, in order to give
us information and access to other individuals inside the Gap for potential
interviews. Weekly communication through emails and face to face meetings
at least every 2 weeks, are established.
Also involved in the project is our advisor, Robbie Drye, who is working for EY
in their London office. Robbie provides support and assistance at an advisory
role at the project. Unfortunately, communication with him is not as frequent
as we would want, as he is constantly busy with work.
Valuable support and advice is also given by Miguel Callejo Pires, who is the
portfolio manager of the portfolio containing the Warwick Gap project.
Documentation
For successful project completion, the team will require access to government
statistics and laws (demographics, employment law, charity funding reports
etc.), as well as reports of the marketing activity of Brunswick living center, if a
beneficial partnership is to be formed.
