2. Sejarah dan Prinsip Kerja
Teknologi VTEC (Variable Valve Timing and Lift Electronic Control) ini
merupakan teknologi yang dikembangkan oleh Automobil Honda. Teknologi
VTEC ditemukan oleh insinyur Honda bernama Ikuo Kajitani pada tahun
1983.Teknologi ini sama-sama bekerja pada cylinder head. Namun jika VVT
menekankan di camshaft maka VTEC menekankan pada rocker arms. Pada
teknologi ini, cylinder head memiliki parameter putaran mesin, dimana mesin
dapat mengatur jumlah valve yang digunakan dan kompresi mesin yang
dibutuhkan. Prinsip kerjanya adalah pengaturan gerakan rocker arms secara
hidrolik. Sehingga rocker arm memiliki dua posisi.
