It is important to recruit volunteers through media outlets, community presentations, and volunteer centers, and ensure they complete applications, references checks, interviews, and training. Retaining volunteers requires showing appreciation, communicating regularly, giving further engagement opportunities, and recognizing their contributions through thank you notes, public recognition, certificates, and awards.
