Volunteers play important roles at Safe Place sites such as responding to youth, assisting with site checks, and helping with presentations and activities. It is important to recruit volunteers through media outlets, community presentations, and volunteer centers, and ensure they complete applications, references checks, interviews, and training. Retaining volunteers requires showing appreciation, communicating regularly, giving further engagement opportunities, and recognizing their contributions through thank you notes, public recognition, certificates, and awards.
MEN’S ISSUES IN PASTORAL CARE
This presentation discusses divorce and the pastoral care required for divorced men. It defines divorce and explores factors that can lead men to divorce like adultery, financial difficulties, and addiction. Divorce impacts men through anger, loss of self-esteem and trust issues. It impacts children through aggression and academic problems. For the church, divorce can lead 50% of divorced individuals to leave the church due to feeling embarrassment from members. The pastor's role is to listen, ensure safety, assess counseling needs, and refer to professionals when needed.
Martin County: On the Move
The document discusses a health and wellness partnership launched at the Roy F. Collier Community Center in Inez, Kentucky. It notes that Martin County has faced higher than average rates of health issues like heart disease and diabetes. Five years ago, a Congressman launched a health and wellness initiative through the community center to get the community "on the move" through increased awareness, programs, and physical activities. Since then, over 5,000 pounds have been lost through programs at the center, and it has become a hub for the community to stay active through its trails, courts, and programs.

Clouds of Hope Substance Abuse Prevention Services provides counseling and rehabilitation services to help individuals overcome substance abuse and related issues. The organization was founded by Clayton A. D'Andrade who has over 18 years experience in addiction counseling and 30 years as a minister. Services include alcohol and drug counseling, domestic violence programs, anger management, and infectious disease education. The mission is to empower individuals through prevention education to practice sobriety and be productive members of society. Goals include serving as an entry point for those seeking help, providing information on substances and health, and strengthening prevention skills.

To ensure pastors understand the changing shape and scope of church giving in local church ministry. Most pastors are so close to the situation that it's difficult for them to pause, recognize the changes, and mark the shift in the assumptions and behavior of the person in the pew. My hope is that by highlighting these realities and providing a plan of action, we can ensure the money God intended to fund the work of the church doesn't end up funding someone else's budget.

When Religion and Sexuality Collide – the experience of LGBT people from faith backgrounds
The intersections of sexuality/gender identity and religion are volatile spaces. Resolving ones perceived conflict between faith and sexuality is rarely an easy journey.
LGBT people of faith and religion experience the usual issues of resolving their sexuality, coming out, finding their place in the community and learning what it means to live authentically in a predominately straight world, but for them, it is more challenging. Often there are additional layers, such as life purpose, family, culture and social network which add intensity and complexities to the conflict.
The impacts of faith/sexuality conflict can include
• Intense cognitive dissonance - the acceptance/ rejection of their sexuality has eternal consequences.
• Suicidality - this group have thoughts of, or attempts to suicide more often than those from non- faith backgrounds.
• Mental health issues. – faith/sexuality conflict causes anxiety, stress and depression.
• Trauma and grief - leaving the religion can be traumatic and the loss of family, friends devastating.
• Internalised homophobia - after coming out, years of negative conditioning and self-hatred continue to impact.
• Loss of purpose and self esteem - The new gay identity, initially, may not be as profound as the previous Christian identity.
Understanding the LGBT faith person’s background, beliefs systems as well as their unique issues is essential for community workers, service providers and educators.
This presentation draws on the presenters personal journey, 15 years working with LGBT people of faith and recent research.

His bestselling autobiography ‘A Life of Unlearning’ details his 22 years attempting to change his homosexuality through counselling, prayer, exorcisms, ex-gay/reparative/conversion therapy programs and 16 years of marriage. Anthony is now a respected LGBT community leader and was twice voted one of the 25 Most Influential Gay and Lesbian Australians. He is the co-founder of Freedom2b, Australia’s leading support network for LGBT people from Christian backgrounds. He is the founder and CEO of Ambassadors & Bridge Builders International. Anthony has presented at conferences in the USA, UK and Asia and provided training in Australia for LGBTI and religious organisations. Douglass B. Clark offers group counseling sessions for leaders to address the emotional isolation they often experience. Leaders are typically self-reliant individuals focused on goals and results, which can leave them trusting few people. However, keeping vulnerabilities hidden damages relationships and limits leadership effectiveness. The groups aim to promote healthy connections and self-knowledge so that leaders can acknowledge limitations and develop authenticity through accepting dependency on others. This allows leaders to better manage adversity, deepen key relationships, and become more transformational.

We looked at manager retention rates at this Chick-fil-A location. We focused on culture, mainly attraction-selection-attrition model and socialization, in order to determine the effects of job satisfaction on turnover.

Victorian values included a strict moral code, Christian beliefs, hard work, and loyalty, while modern values emphasize appearance, wealth, borrowing, and distrust. However, the document argues that being virtuous through respect, understanding and diversity actually improves society's health, trust, and productivity.

One Congregation’S Journey
The Pleasant Hills Presbyterian Church experienced a period of growth from 1989-2000 under the leadership of their beloved pastor Hal Johnson. However, they failed to change organizational structures or expectations as the community's demographics shifted. After a transitional interim period, conflict arose between the new pastor Ryan Edwards and long-term lay leaders from 2002-2006, resulting in loss of members and financial difficulties. By 2005, the congregation was in crisis with declining attendance, energy for mission, and morale among exhausted members and leaders.

Students from Meadowhead Community Learning College participated in a cultural exchange activity called Comenius Legends Across Europe. When asked about their experiences, students most enjoyed meeting new people from Finland and Spain and learning about their cultures. They learned about legends from other countries as well as their own. The most difficult part was saying goodbye to their exchange partners and new friends from other countries when the activity ended. For future activities, students would like more time with the exchange partners to get to know them better.

While the cause of my brother's behavior may be much deeper than the church he belongs to, this particular church exhibits cult-like tendencies because a significant time commitment is expected from its member. Most of its members joined during a very vulnerable time in their lives. The church is involved in every aspect of your life, from work to your family and everything in between.
My brother's church has cult-like tendencies because every member must devote a significant amount of time to its activities and practices. From the 1930s, cults emerged as the object of sociological study from the perspective of studying religious behaviors. In the 1940s, the Christian anti-cult movement started to oppose some sects and new religious movements, terming them "cults" due to their unorthodox beliefs. In the 1970s, the secular anti-cult movement resisted specific groups in reaction to acts of violence committed by group members. These groups, primarily called cults, practiced mind control of their members and linked to strange religious, spiritual, or philosophical beliefs and rituals. Thus, cults remain exploitative, weird groups with uncommon beliefs. Word of Faith Fellowship, located in Spindale, North Carolina, and Remnant Fellowship, located in Brentwood, Tennessee, are some renowned religious-based cults in the United States. The former started in 1979 when Jane Whaley and Sam Whaley converted a former steakhouse into a chapel, while the latter began in 1999 courtesy of its founder, the late Gwen Shamblin.
As of 2021, my brother started showing strange behaviors that were out of character for him. In the previous years, I had not noticed strange behaviors from him. We always came to each other for everything and had practically no secrets between us. However, I was shocked after noticing some devastating behaviors such as isolating himself from our family members, seeking validation from the church elders, crossing biblical boundaries of behavior, and emphasizing special doctrines outside the scripture. I found that what started as a staunch Christian had developed into something darker, emerging far from our original upbringing. After a few months, my brother stopped visiting our church and fully embraced his new church. In this new church, he would spend most of his time in church and would return home during late hours even on non service days. On one of the Sundays, the church had convinced my brother to stop pursuing a law degree and instead go into theology, to my surprise he agreed. He went on to switch to a different university and even quit his job per the church’s request. Most of his friends and family who knew him were shocked by the uncommon changes in his personality. It seems that current missionary work requires spending a lot of money, preparing a lot of materials, and traveling to far away places, so that it feels like missionary work. But what was the result they brought back? It's just a lot of photos of activities, fun eating, drinking and some playing games. And then we have to do the same thing next year, never ending. The church once mentioned that a certain missionary would go to the field where she used to work before the end of his life. It seemed that if she had not gone, no one would be willing to go.
