results. I had reached a level in which wellness seemed impossible for me to achieve – and that lack
of wellness was dramatically impacting the quality of my life. It was a period in my life in which I
could not function properly as a husband, father or businessman. I could not really live to fulfill my
life purposes without finding these wellness secrets. This journey of discovery brought me to the 10
Essentials of Health and Wellness. One by one I discovered them, applied them and thus began a
journey to the greatest wellness of my life.
I wanted others to experience this wellness. I desired to find leading wellness experts who could
help develop our nutraceutical products. I wanted to find experts who could write and inspire people
to find greater wellness – by providing information that embraced an overall health philosophy. I had
a vision of people experiencing wellness who wanted to share their wellness experience with others.

any puzzles are yet to be solved by
modern medicine. As we continue
to seek causes and solutions for
the ills that plague mankind, confusion still
swirls around two of the more “mysterious”
ailments: chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS)
and fibromyalgia (FMS).
During National Chronic Fatigue Awareness
Month in March, it’s appropriate to look at
these two issues together, since they’re often
paired in medical literature. They have some
important traits in common:
• We don’t know what causes
either CFS or fibromyalgia
• They share several symptoms
• There is no cure
The confusion around these two syndromes is
fed by their overlapping nature: It’s estimated
that up to 70% of people diagnosed with CFS
also fit the clinical guidelines for FMS, and vice
versa. Most people with CFS have some kind of
pain, which is a major symptom of FMS. And
most people with FMS report fatigue, a major
symptom of CFS. No wonder even doctors can
be unsure which is which.
Vitamin B-12 and folic acid
for managing symptoms
We do know, however, that many physicians
and researchers (along with patients) support
supplementation – including Vitamin B-12 and
folic acid – as an important part of managing
symptoms. Here’s a thumbnail look that helps
explain why:
CFS: As the name suggests, this is a disorder
that causes extreme fatigue. This fatigue is not
the tiredness that goes away after you rest.
Instead, it lasts a long time and limits your
ability to do ordinary daily activities.
Symptoms of CFS include fatigue for six months
or more, and other problems such as muscle pain,
memory problems, headaches, pain in multiple joints,
sleep problems, sore throat and tender lymph nodes.
It is most common in women in their 40s and 50s,
but anyone can have it. It can last for years.
FMS: Fibromyalgia makes you feel tired and
causes muscle pain and “tender points.” Tender
points are places on the neck, shoulders, back,
hips, arms or legs that hurt when touched. Other
symptoms can include trouble sleeping, morning
stiffness, headaches, and problems with thinking
and memory, sometimes called “fibro fog.”
No one knows what causes fibromyalgia. Anyone
can get it, but it is most common in middle-aged
women. People with rheumatoid arthritis and
other autoimmune diseases are especially prone
to fibromyalgia.

a celebration of Irish heritage
E
ach year, March 17 marks the Irish religious holiday known as
St. Patrick’s Day, honoring the patron saint of Ireland. The first
St. Patrick’s Day parade was held in the United States on March 17,
1762. Irish soldiers, serving in the English military, marched through New
York City’s streets to the sounds of Irish music. Today, there are St. Patrick’s
Day parades in many cities, but New York City’s is the longest running
civilian parade in the world. The parade has nearly 150,000 participants
and about 3.5 million spectators. According to the US Census Bureau,
approximately 35.9 million Americans reported Irish ancestry in the 2006
American Community Survey. The Census of Canada reported 13.9% Irish
Canadians that same year.

Saffron Garlic Quinoa
DIRECTIONS
In a medium saucepan, boil water and add the bouillon. Stir until dissolved. Turn
off the heat, add the saffron threads and stir. Cover and set aside.
Preheat a medium-sized pot over medium heat. Sauté the garlic in oil until softened
and golden, about 3-4 minutes. Add the onion and continue to sauté until the onion
turns translucent, 5-6 minutes. Add the quinoa and stir to combine. Sauté for about
a minute. Pour in the warm vegetable broth and stir in the coriander. Cover and
bring to a boil, stir the quinoa once, and lower the heat to low, simmering for 20-25
minutes, until the liquid has been absorbed and the quinoa is tender. Remove from
heat and let stand for 10 minutes. Fluff with a fork, add pine nuts and season with
salt and pepper.
INGREDIENTS
1-3/4 cup water
1 veggie bouillon cube
pinch saffron threads (5-6 threads)
2 tbsp olive oil
5 cloves garlic, minced
1 small yellow onion, diced
1 cup quinoa
(can use other grains, like rice and millet)
pinch ground coriander
sea salt and fresh ground pepper to taste
1/3 cup toasted pine nuts (optional)
Curried Kale w/Caramelized Shallots & Agave
DIRECTIONS
Heat oil over medium heat, add shallots, sauté until dark brown and caramelized,
about 20 minutes. Stir in curry powder, agave and lemon juice. Add kale, soy sauce
and water. Cover and steam for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally until kale is still
chewy but tender. Do not overcook.

W
hen you look in the mirror, do
you see nothing but flaws? Sheer
perfection? Something in between?
If you’re like many people – and most women –
you may see more minuses than pluses. The
problem is, this negative self-image can set you
up for failure when you decide to take action
about weight and health.
In Western societies, the glamorized “ideal”
for both sexes is a false standard. Bombarded
by ads, movies and TV shows that spotlight
dangerously thin females and males with six-
pack abs, we tend to accept these images as
what we “should” be, and invariably come up
short. As a result, we may throw ourselves into
extreme exercise plans, unhealthy diets and
even severe emotional problems as we struggle
to meet someone else’s standard.
Which body type are you?
Most people are some combination of the three
main body types:
1. Ectomorphs. This type is usually tall and
thin, with a slight frame and narrow hips
and shoulders.
2. Mesomorphs. This type tends to look
bulkiest in the upper body, with broad
shoulders and a muscular build.
3. Endomorphs. This type has a soft,
rounded appearance, usually with
shoulders narrower than hips.
While we inherit body type, like eye color or
face shape, our individual eating and exercise
habits can make a difference. If you eat a
healthy diet, exercise regularly and keep your
weight at an appropriate level, chances are
that your mirror still shows some “flaw”: thighs,
abdomen, buttocks or other area that’s “too fat”
or “too something” (at least compared to that
impossible ideal in the ads, movies, etc.).
When it comes to body image, a certain amount
of self-criticism is common. However, research
shows that when this goes too far, it can result
in serious eating disorders like anorexia (where
you’re too thin but think you’re fat) and bulimia
(binge eating followed by purging). According
to James Rosen, Ph.D., a specialist in body
image research and psychology at the University
of Vermont, people who struggle the most with
body image are the ones who are most likely to
develop eating disorders.
Fill out the body
image questionnaire
The odds are that at least one of your body
parts doesn’t please you. To see how severe
your concern may be, fill out this body image
questionnaire from the National Women’s
Health Information Center.
List five body parts in order of your
dissatisfaction with them, and note what
you don’t like about their appearance.
Some examples:
• Thighs too fat
• Biceps too skinny
• Teeth crooked
When you look in the mirror, how do
you usually perceive these parts? (example:
disgusting flabby thighs). Notice if your
body talk is negative and hyper-critical,
or objective and neutral.
Are you embarrassed or self-conscious
about your appearance? Do you assume
that other people think badly about you
because of your appearance? Do you avoid
wearing a bathing suit at beaches or pools?
Think about the ways you may feel
ashamed of your body part, and might
have tried to change its appearance
(wearing baggy clothes, undergoing
liposuction). Have you dieted in an
unhealthy way? Spent hours at the
gym to change your looks and not
to improve your health?
When you think about your appearance,
do any of these feelings come to mind?
• Dissatisfied
• Insecure
• Distressed
• Obsessed
• Embarrassed
When you think of the things that define
who you are, what comes up first? Do
you consider yourself “fat,” as opposed to
intelligent, caring, a good worker or some
other personal quality?
The questionnaire ends with this thought:
“No one is going to comment on the
imperfections of your body at your funeral.
Practice loving yourself from the inside
out, rather than judging yourself from the
outside in.”
No matter what body type genetics gave you,
you can choose healthy eating and exercise
habits to keep your body going strong. Remember
to follow the 10 Essentials (page 2), and don’t
overlook #9: Develop Acceptance. If you can
accept your physical “inheritance” and develop
a positive self-image, you’ll be building overall
health: physical, emotional and spiritual.

When it comes to cars, John can do just about
anything, and has, for over 40 years. His weight

14. Colorectal cancer is the
third most common cancer
in the United States and
the second most common
cause of cancer-related
death. Leading healthcare
professionals realize the
importance of educating
the public about this deadly
disease and that is why
March has been designated National Colorectal
Cancer Awareness Month.
Understandably, the colon and rectum are
neither glamorous nor easy topics to discuss
with your healthcare provider. Nonetheless, it
is extremely important that you or your provi-
der bring this topic up during one of your next
medical visits to ensure you will be properly
assessed and screened for any colorectal disease.
Why should I be screened
for colorectal cancer?
Most colorectal cancers arise from pre-existing
polyps. These polyps occur in approximately
30% of adults age 50 years and older and
occur more commonly as we age. The goal of
colorectal cancer screening is to identify early
cancers and polyps in order to limit the spread
of disease and save lives.
How often should I be screened?
Routine screening should occur on the
following basis and by one or more of
the following methods:
• Annual testing of your stool for
hidden blood [also known as fecal
occult blood test (FOBT)]
• Flexible sigmoidoscopy every five years
• Colonoscopy every ten years
FOBT is the easiest to perform and can be done
in the privacy of your own home. Application of
a stool specimen to special testing cards on three
consecutive days is the most common way of
performing this test.
Flexible sigmoidoscopy is done at your doctor’s
office and requires brief preparation with a stool
cleanser or laxative. The instrument, a sigmoido-
scope, is a short, flexible tube that uses a fiber
optic light to see up to about 60 cm (about 2 feet)
inside your rectum and colon. This procedure will
not detect any disease within the colon above
this distance. Most medical societies recommend
combining flexible sigmoidoscopy with FOBT
every five years to enhance screening.
Colonoscopy is the best test for identifying
colon polyps. Medical authorities recognize this
procedure as inherently the most risky, too.
While perforation of the colon may occur, it is
quite rare. Also, most physicians performing this
procedure place their patients under conscious
sedation, meaning you will be awake but not
truly alert. This may place you at increased risk
for lung and heart complications if you have
underlying lung and heart disease.
What can I do to prevent
colorectal cancer?
There are several things that may lessen your risk
for developing disease of the colon and rectum:
• Keep the weight off – many scientific
studies confirm the association between
obesity and risk for colorectal cancer.
• Lower your fat intake – less fat in one’s
diet may decrease the risk for developing
colon polyps, the precursor to cancer.
• Eat less red meat – there is some
controversy here, but red meat has very
little fiber and slows up the bowel function,
allowing toxins to fester within your
bowels. Additionally, one scientific study
confirmed an association between red meat
consumption and increased colon cancer
in women.
• Increase your dietary fiber – fiber is
great for your overall health and improves
bowel function. However, it has not been
scientifically-proven to lower your risk for
colorectal cancer.
• Vitamin and mineral supplements –
Vitamin D and calcium have been
scientifically shown to help reduce the
development of colon polyps. Calcium
seems to be the strong partner here, but
Vitamin D assists calcium absorption
within the intestines. That’s why I
recommend a calcium supplement for
bone health and general well-being,
especially as we age.
• Other medicines, such as aspirin or its
cousins, are potentially useful to lower
the risk for colorectal disease, but their
side effects of bleeding and kidney and
liver problems make them unsuitable for
most people. Lastly, cholesterol-lowering
medicines known as statins have also been
found in several studies to have a link to
lower risk for colorectal disease.

Cycles of life, seasons, emotion

March is Spiritual Awareness Month, and
I want to share some of my own awareness
with you by asking a bold question:
Why does religion
help so many people?
Why, through the ages, have people in every
place and every culture turned to spiritual
worship to help sustain them through hard
times? Why has an organized spiritual
community (we call ours “church”) been
so vital to success in all areas of life?
Of course, God tells us to gather in His name,
and we comply. Perhaps we don’t always attend
services with the gladdest of hearts, or with
gratitude for all we have, but we do gather to
worship Him. In so doing, we receive His grace
and blessing, and, I hope, always come away
feeling comforted and uplifted. There are other
benefits to practicing religion, too. If you want
scientific proof, just ask science.
Science findings
that support religion
Yes, it’s science that has given us some of the
answers about why and how religion helps us.
In the recent past, research has shown a strong,
undeniable link between prayers and health.
People who were prayed for showed significant
improvement in their health, according to an
analysis of 17 studies conducted over the past
40 years. And for some time, researchers have
known that people who are devoutly religious
tend to have stronger marriages, live longer and
generally be happier than others. (For the latest
findings on this topic, see page 28.)
More recently, an even bigger study (drawing on
80 years of research), concluded that people who
demonstrate religious belief by attending services
with fellow worshipers have more self-control
your body, His Temple – 1 Cor. 6:19-20
Praying for a better life?
You’re already on the right track

than those who don’t. (Self-control was
explained as living out your ideals: letting
a concern for others, for example, lead to
volunteer work.) That’s right: Science has
concluded that going to church makes you
a stronger person.
Two psychologists at the University of Miami
wanted to test the idea that religion gives
people internal strength, so they pored over
decades of studies. “When you add it all up,”
said one, “it turns out there are remarkably
consistent findings that religiosity correlates
with higher self-control.”
I’d like to point out that the researchers did
not find that this “religiosity” is rooted in fear
of some punishment. No, the scientists said that
religious people have self-control because they
actually believe and act on the ideals of their
faith. Their religious values become one with
their own personal values. So, their self-control
is precious, even sacred, because it’s part of the
foundation of their lives.
How might your self-control be manifested?
Would you use your inner strength to be kinder
to those you encounter every day? To avoid
excesses of spending money? To honor your
body, His temple by doing more to promote
your own good health? What better time than
now, during Spiritual Awareness Month, to
become more aware of the power that can be
drawn by living your faith.
If we are “alert and self-controlled,” as Scripture
urges, we aren’t asleep: we’re wide awake, open
to the boundless possibilities of life. We become
more grateful for all our blessings, more mindful
of the precious gifts we’ve been given.

ot so long ago, women were barred
and discouraged from pursuing careers
in medicine. In honor of Women’s
History Month, we’re spotlighting some true
pioneers: These women faced social barriers,
discrimination and other hardships, yet
persevered to make great strides in medicine
and healthcare. Not only did they change their
world, they created a new world of possibilities
for future generations of women.
A reformer in the
field of nursing
Florence Nightingale
Against the wishes
of her parents, Florence
Nightingale chose to
become a nurse, a
profession which was
considered “un-ladylike.”
When the Crimean
War broke out in 1854,
stories about conditions at the front prompted
Nightingale to volunteer for service. Through
her efforts, sanitary conditions at the hospitals
improved greatly and casualties decreased.
Upon her return to England, Nightingale
established a school of nursing; her greatest
contribution was to make nursing a respectable
profession. Her 1860 book, “Notes on Nursing,”
is still in print today. An accomplished
statistician, she is also credited with inventing
the pie chart.
First woman to graduate
from medical school
Elizabeth Blackwell
In 1849, Elizabeth Blackwell became the first
woman in the world to graduate from medical
school. Though graduating first in her class
from Geneva Medical College in New York,
she had a difficult time finding work. Despite
much discrimination, she eventually opened
a clinic, and with her sister – also a doctor –
opened the New York Infirmary for Women
and Children and later the Women’s Medical
College in New York City.
The first female doctor
in the Western world
Dr. James Miranda Barry
James Miranda Barry had to disguise herself
as a man in order to enter medical school in
1809, and continued to hide her true identity
her entire life. After graduating in 1812, she
joined the British Army as a surgeon and
over the years was stationed all over the
world. In 1857, she was sent to Canada as
the inspector general of military hospitals,
the top-ranking position. Though considered
“eccentric,” she was highly regarded as a
surgeon. She advocated for improved sanitary
conditions and better food in hospitals. It
was only upon her death that her true gender
was discovered.

Clara Barton
Clara Barton began her
lifelong work of helping
others in the battlefields
of the American Civil
War and was dubbed
“The Angel of the
Battlefield.” After the
war, she led efforts to
locate missing soldiers and gave speeches on

lobbying for an American branch. In 1881, the
American Red Cross was established; Barton
served as president for over 20 years.

assessing the health of newborn babies. Today,
the Apgar score is a standard test for newborns.

shrinking investments? These days it
seems most of us are, and it might be
easy to let this stress push aside healthy habits.
The best advice in one word is, don’t. It’s more
important than ever to protect your health by
continuing to make smart lifestyle choices.
Here’s a look at some of the ways that financial
woe can chip away at the best health habits,
and some strategies for fighting back.
Too much stress,
not enough money?
In the workforce, the economic meltdown has
led to overwork for many who still have jobs.
This burden makes it easy to trade healthy
meals for a fast-food filler, to reach for “comfort”
in high-calorie treats, to skip exercise and to
look for escape through drinking or smoking.
If you find yourself or a loved one starting to
develop one or more of these behaviors, there
are several steps you can take to get back on
track. Some counter-strategies:
• Fix healthy lunches and snacks at home,
and keep them on hand every day. You’ll
be safeguarding your health and your
wallet by not paying for over-processed,
packaged foods.
• Avoid sugary, high-fat foods and
snacks. They’ll just pack on the
pounds and leave you feeling low.
• Can’t afford your gym membership?
Walking is free and great for you;
ditto taking the stairs instead of the
escalator, working out at home to
DVDs from your local library, dancing
(solo or paired) and dozens of other
possibilities – get creative.
• Smoking, as you know, is a killer for your
body and wallet. What a great, money-
saving time to stop. Ask your healthcare
provider about free local resources to help.
• Alcohol does not relieve stress – it
boosts your stress level, and can lead
to a cycle of over eating, smoking and
other dangerous habits, such as more
drinking. Save your money and tip a
few glasses of water instead.

Given the wobbly economy, who can afford
to miss work, or put themselves at risk of
illness by not safeguarding their health? If
nothing else, the financial incentives for
staying healthy should make us all even more
determined to eat right, exercise and keep

In a recent survey, a majority of supplement

Simple training tips for a healthier, stronger you
It’s easy to get started with these beginner, strength-boosting exercises
Many of us think of strength or weight training
as something just for young 20-somethings with
bulky biceps and bulging veins. That’s just not
true. Strength training has been proven to offer
tremendous health benefits to people of all ages.
And you don’t need to buy an expensive set of
weights or join a health club to get started.
If you’ve never lifted weights in your life –
and many people haven’t – there are many
good reasons to start now. Muscle tissue, bone
density, muscle power and overall strength start
dwindling over the years. These changes in your
body can lead to accidents and injuries that
can lessen your ability to lead an independent,
active life. Strength training is one of the most
effective ways to slow and perhaps even reverse
much of this decline.
Having weak, small muscles doesn’t just change
your appearance or movements. Muscle loss
affects the body in much more important ways.
Strong muscles are able to draw oxygen and
nutrients from the blood more efficiently than
weak ones. This allows you to enjoy your favorite
activities with less heart strain.
Strong muscles are also better at absorbing sugar
in the blood and helping the body stay sensitive
to insulin (which helps cells remove sugar from
the blood). Strong muscles can help keep blood
sugar levels in check, which in turn can help
prevent or help control type 2 diabetes and
improve heart performance.
Weak muscles can speed up the loss of
independence because everyday activities, such
as walking, cleaning, shopping and even dressing
yourself become more difficult. You may find it
harder to balance your body properly when
walking or standing still. By age 65, one in three
people have fallen. Because bones tend to
weaken over time, one out of every 20 of these
falls ends in fracture of the hip, wrist or leg. The
risk of these problems can be reduced by exercise.
Simple beginner’s strength-
boosting exercises
All you need is a sturdy chair with armrests
and athletic shoes with non-skid soles for
these simple strength-building exercises.
Triceps dip
• Put a chair with
armrests up against
a wall. Sit in the
chair and put your
feet together flat on
the floor. Lean forward
a bit while keeping
your shoulders and
back straight.
• Bend your elbows and place your hands
on the armrests of the chair, so they are
in line with your torso.
• Pressing downward on your hands,
try to lift yourself up a few inches
by straightening out your arms.
• Raise your upper body and thighs,
but keep your feet in contact with
the floor. Pause. Slowly release until
you’re sitting back down again.
• Aim for 8-12 repetitions.
Rest and repeat the set.
Seated bridge
• Sit slightly forward
in a chair with your
hands on the armrests.
• Your feet should be
flat on the floor and
slightly apart, and
your upper body
should be upright
(don’t lean forward).
• Using your arms for balance only,
slowly raise your buttocks off the
chair until nearly standing with
your knees bent. Pause.
• Slowly sit back down.
• Aim for 8-12 repetitions. Rest and
repeat the set.
Standing calf raise
• Stand with your feet
flat on the floor. Hold
onto the back of your
chair for balance.
• Raise yourself up on
tiptoe, as high as
possible.
• Hold briefly, then
lower yourself.
• Aim for 8-12 repetitions.
Rest and repeat the set.

Attending weekly religious services may help you live longer,
study suggests
New York, New York
Attending weekly religious services may reduce the risk of death by 20%, researchers from Yeshiva
University’s Albert Einstein College of Medicine reported.
The study, published in Psychology & Health, followed 92,395 women between the ages of 50 and 79
who were part of the larger Women’s Health Initiative Observational Study.
Based on self-reports of religious service attendance and the strength and comfort offered by the services,
it was discovered that those who attended services at least once a week had a 20% reduction in all causes
of death – with the notable exception of coronary heart disease.
Researchers do not understand how religiosity provides this protective effect; further studies have
been suggested.
A spoonful of sugar... may lead to addiction
Princeton, New Jersey
Sugar may be addictive, say researchers from Princeton University. In animal models, scientists found that
sugar could induce all the stages of addiction, as defined by the American Psychiatric Association: bingeing,
withdrawal and craving.
“If bingeing on sugar is really a form of addiction, there should be long-lasting effects in the brains of sugar
addicts,” said lead scientist Bart Hoebel, psychology professor at Princeton University. “Craving and relapse are
critical components of addiction, and we have been able to demonstrate these behaviors in sugar-bingeing
rats in a number of ways.”
Rats that were denied sugar for long periods of time, consumed more sugar when it was reintroduced to them.
When rats ingested large amounts of sugar, neurochemical changes occurred in their brains, similar to the
changes produced by substances such as cocaine, morphine and nicotine. When denied sugar, rats exhibited
withdrawal symptoms such as chattering teeth and an unusual lack of interest in their surroundings.
“It seems possible that the brain adaptations and behavioral signs seen in rats may occur in some individuals
with binge-eating disorder or bulimia,” Hoebel said. “Our work provides links between the traditionally defined
substance-use disorders, such as drug addiction, and the development of abnormal desires for natural substances.
This knowledge might help us to devise new ways of diagnosing and treating addictions in people.”

a diet high in cabbage may cut breast cancer risk

Young women who eat a lot of cabbage may reduce their future risk of breast cancer, according to
researchers from Michigan State University and the National Food and Nutrition Institute of Warsaw.
The study was part of the Polish Women’s Health Study, a long-term breast cancer study that follows

Polish women as well as Polish-born women living in the
United States.
Polish women eat an average of 30 pounds of cabbage and
sauerkraut per year, versus 10 pounds in the United States. And,
Polish women have a one-third lower risk of dying of breast cancer
than their United States counterparts. However, when Polish
women immigrate to the United States, their breast cancer risk
triples. Researchers wanted to find out if dietary changes contributed
to the increased risk.
The women were asked to fill out food questionnaires asking
about their diets when they were 12 and 13 years old and as adults.
Women who ate four or more servings per week of cabbage during
adolescence were 72% less likely to develop breast cancer than
those who ate only 1.5 servings per week.
The protective effect was limited to raw and short-cooked cabbage,
including raw sauerkraut, fresh cabbage and steamed sauerkraut.
Cabbage that was cooked longer, in dishes such as cabbage rolls
and pierogi, did not have a protective effect.
Researchers discovered that even women who consumed moderate
and low amounts of cabbage in their youth could still reduce their
breast cancer risk by eating high amounts of cabbage in adulthood.
Study results were presented at the American Association for
Cancer Research annual cancer prevention meeting.

Taking certain medications with fruit juice can lower their
effectiveness, researchers reported at the 236th National Meeting
of the American Chemical Society.
It has been known for many years that taking certain drugs with
grapefruit juice can increase their potency, potentially leading to
harmful side effects. But the same scientists who discovered that
link now caution that taking certain other drugs with grapefruit,
orange or apple juice can actually reduce the effectiveness of them.
These include anti-cancer, high blood pressure, anti-rejection and
antibiotic drugs.
“The concern is loss of benefit of medications essential for the
treatment of serious medical conditions,” said lead researcher David
G. Bailey, Ph.D., professor of clinical pharmacology at the University
of Western Ontario. He recommends that people consult their
healthcare provider or pharmacist before taking medications with
juice and suggests taking most medications with water.
