Video Shoot Plans
1. Video Shoot Plans
These video shoot plans will go further into exactly what shots we want to achieve
then our final storyboard. We have drawn out rough ideas of how we want shots too look, and
explain the sort of lighting we wish too achieve. Not all of the shots on the story board have been
drawn, and we have only drawn shots which we feel are key to the trailer or unusual. We have
also included more information on sound and costume and props which will be needed in the
shot.
2. Video Shoot 1 – 23rd Oct
The far left shot is the opening shot to
our middle section. The plan for this
will be it starts off in the woods with a
slight slowed down pace, before
speeding up and revealing the 2 actors
laying in a ditch unconscious. We feel
this is key as it acts as the establishing
shot showing what has happened after
they port, and sets the feel of the
location for the rest of the trailer.
The middle shot is the actors finding
the blood on the wall. It will then have
a fast pan around to reveal a silhouette
of the killer stood in the doorway with
a knife. We feel this is key as it
introduces the killer for the first time,
whilst not revealing the identity of
them, and is also a point to cut too
black for a few seconds before getting
into the fast paced cuts at the end.
3. Video Shoot 2 – 25th Oct
This video shoot will be the first requiring props. We will need the killer costume and the knife. We will film the killer watching over the 2
actors as they enter the bunker. And also take the 2 shots for the end of the quick cuts were we see a little bit more of the killer. Lastly we will
wait until it gets dark, and use the wooded area next to the bunker to film the final crash zoom of the killers face. This is a very key shot as it
will be at the end of the trailer, and the moment of seeing the face we have done so it will stick into the viewers mind, so when they see the
film posters later which will have the mask featured, they will link the 2 together. The 2 shots of the killer are key shots due to this being what
closes the fast paced cuts, and really reinforcing the scariness of the trapper/killer. The killer watching shots are key as we really want to try
and emphasise how they are really watching the 2, yet keeping out of the way. We have also had the idea of a point of view shot with some
sort of overlay to emphasise it further.
4. Video Shoot 3 – 26th October
The aim of video shoot 3 is to get all of the running shots out of the way. The reason for this is because they do not need much setting up on the actor front.
These have been pulled as the key running shots from the quick cuts due to them being the more ‘unusual ones’. The reason we think they are unusual is
because the far left is shot from a low angle, hence the grass in the foreground, yet the background will look normal landscape and not a low angle, this giving a
very mystical yet scary feel to it. We also envisage using an effect on the clip of the runner leaving a trail and kind of ghosting across. This will help keep the fast
pace, whilst also the ghostly feel benefiting the horror and mysticalness of the film. The next shot was used in our practise trailer and we really liked it, so that is
why we are using it again. It is a key shot as it is the 1 which is continuously cut between in the trailer, so is very essential to get right. We plan to do a birds eye
view also of the running, to set the location and try and show a scale of size of were they are trapped. From our location scout finding the new location with a
bunker and a hole to run through, we plan a low angle of this showing how in the film it is not just the 1 bunker, and it is more complicated then that. Again,
from our practise, a close up of the feet just running, this is because the cut is very quick and adds a variety to the standard angles of a close up of the face
whilst running. Lastly we plan to have the 2 actors run through a V shaped tree, this is to hopefully add to the aesthetical appearance of the shot, and add a
small amount of action of them leaping through.
5. Video Shoot 4 – 28th Oct
These quick cuts will be shot on a different day to the others, this is due to them taking more time to be setup so will require a longer day. They
will also need a lot more props. Far left is someone tied to a tree and there mouth taped up struggling, we have them positioned on the rule of
thirds line as well. Next we plan to do the dragging along the ground shot again, this is a very strong convention in most horror films so we feel it
will be good to include./ It did not go too well In the practise trailer due to bad acting, so this time we will keep re-shooting until we have one
which looks good and will hopefully not be laughed at like during our film pitch. We also plan to include someone on there back looking scared
crawling backwards away from the camera, this again is quite strong in horror conventions. We also plan to include similar to the first shot, some
more in detail close ups, such as of the face of the person with the duck tape covering there mouth, and also a close up of there hands tied
together around the back of the tree, with them fidgeting to try and get there hands set free. Another idea is of someone crawling on there front
out of a bush and slamming there hand in front of the camera which is also at ground level as if they are reaching for something, the hand may
be covered in blood to add more of a horror film and suggest more of a battle. The next idea is to have a close up of the actors face, this time no
tape, and have a gloved black hand grab there mouth and pull them backwards out of the shot, this may be a good idea to end the cuts on as it
introduces the trapper into them, and it would be perfect to math the music to cut at the same time they drag off. Our last idea is too have
someone with a firey stick and swinging it towards the camera, this should look quite spectacular, and also really shows the fighting, and could
suggest we are inside the trapper as a point of view shot here, reminding us that we saw them on the outside.
6. Video Shoot 5 – 29th Oct
Although this shoot is for the beginning of the trailer,
we are shooting it last, this mainly due to the fact we
need the full moon for the first shot. The first shot we
plan to begin with a close up of the moon, then zoom
and tilt the camera down to the entrance of the
graveyard were it will meet the 2 actors walking past
and about to enter. We feel this shot is very key to the
trailer as it is the opening establishing shot, and what
the viewer will first see so it needs to grab their
attention. We feel this should do it very well, and also
the full moon suggests the horror genre as this is
already linked with werewolf's and other mysterious
things to happen whilst it is out. The next key shot at
the graveyard is the pan following them and then tilting
up to the clock. This is key due to the fact again it is a
attention grabber as the tower at night looks very scary
lit up, so it sets the scene. Lastly the final key shot is the
shot were the 2 actors vanish, this is key as it begins to
tell the story and shows the disequilibrium of them
vanishing. This shot will also be one of the hardest to
setup, as we will need to get it perfect so that they
vanish at the correct point, and there is no continuity
that changes in-between them going and the new
overlay being brung over to cover them,
