VIDEO PRESENTATIONS & BLOGS
Assign a research project to students in a group. Give each group a section
in Blackboard.
In lieu of in class presentations, students can present their assignments
using pre-recorded video to be shown in class and viewed at home on a
Blackboard site.
This offers the students an opportunity to develop a clear and concise
presentation
Students can then post the video to blogs in Blackboard and have further
discussion about the topics presented or offer peer feedback and
questions about a presented topic
VIDEO PSA ASSIGNMENT
Groups of students are given a debatable issue to research in class. The
students are then instructed to take a side on the issue determined by
the instructor.
The student groups will then collect research geared towards producing a
Public service announcement arguing their position on that topic.
Students will have access to a blog so that they can reflect and collect
information about this issue that supports their view
The final project will be a public service announcement that presents a
debatable topic
Then the instructor can then create discussion threads on each PSA topic
so the discussion can continue among the class
VLOGS
Allow students to create short 2 minute videos that will serve the same
purpose of their blog.
Students can use the videos to serve as a daily or weekly reflection on the
topics at hand.
Students will be able to use video, whether it be created with a cell phone, a
built in camera or a stand alone video camera.
DIGITAL STORYTELLING-ENHANCED
Allow students to creatively use video to present their in-depth research on
a particular topic
Student can be given wikis to cite sources and display research methods to
the instructor and the class
The students can also use the wikis to provide any additional information
that would demonstrate their depth of knowledge on the subject
Students can be creative: re-enactments, interviews, on-site video,
animation, etc.
The students would present a video that allows students to creatively
explain a research topic to their classmates and instructor by
incorporating audio and visual elements. The videos should typically be
the length of an investigative journalism piece on the news
