at 120 rpm clockwise direction. Link BC and AD are of equal
length 150 mm. CD and AB lengths are 80 mm and 40 mm
respectively. Angle BAD = 60o. Find angular velocity (ωCD) of
link CD

• In a pin jointed four bar mechanism, as shown in Fig. 6.9, AB =
300 mm, BC = CD = 360 mm, and AD = 600 mm. The angle
BAD = 60°. The crank AB rotates uniformly at 100 r.p.m. Locate
all the instantaneous centres and find the angular velocity of
the link BC.

• N AB = 100 r.p.m
• ωAB = 2 π× 100/60 = 10.47 rad/s
• VAB = ωAB x AB = 3.141 m/s
