What are data-centric workloads?
Analytics, in-memory databases, AI, machine learning, deep learning and other workloads are transforming every industry—
empowering companies to uncover valuable insights and intelligence from their massive, ever-growing volumes of data.
What demands do data-centric
workloads place on infrastructure?
Data-centric workloads are often very compute-intensive, but they are also very data-intensive—and that places greater
strains on memory, storage and networking to store more data and to move it faster to and from the CPU so it can be
processed and analyzed.

With its business growing
rapidly, the company wanted to
upgrade its reporting infrastruc-

its operations while ensuring the
highest standards of services
across its entire supply chain.
To achieve this endeavor,
Al-Kabli turned to regional sys-

Founded in 1995, the company
delivers a broad range of ICT
solutions including cybersecuri-

BI among others, to over 3,000
customers across all verticals.

which was taking a tremendous
amount of time in delivering busi-

also didn’t have proper visibility

Following an in-depth eval-

online transactions internally as

was easier said than done as the
bank had to build each component
from scratch.
The online banker partnered
with ConSol Enterprising IT, a high-
end technology consultant and
provider of innovative solutions
and services, right from the begin-
ning of its journey.
“A traditional on-prem archi-
tecture and legacy technologies

tomer as their infrastructure was
going to be 100% cloud-based. We
were involved from an early stage
when they were just setting up the
enterprise technology architec-
ture of the bank. We supported
them for more than two years as
we collaborated on building the
core banking applications and
systems,” said Salim Menikh, Sr.
Business Development Manager,
ConSol Enterprising IT.
The ConSol team spent a lot
of time in planning the technolo-
gy landscape for the bank as this
would become the backbone of its
digital operations.
“We are working with the bank

which met all their current require-
ments and future visions. Together
we have developed an agile soft-
ware approach and built the mid-
dleware enterprise architecture on
Red Hat for the ongoing project,”
explained Menikh.
Red Hat OpenShift offers the
digital banking customer automat-
ed installation, upgrades, and life-
cycle management throughout its
container stack, including operat-
ing system, Kubernetes and cluster
services, and applications. It al-
lows its teams to build with speed,
agility, confidence, and choice.
The technology is also focused on
security at every level of the con-
tainer stack and throughout the
application lifecycle.
Establishing the enterprise
middleware, a platform that sup-
ports the smooth transactions
and communications between the
bank’s frontend and backend, is
the first phase of deployment. The
ConSol team is now working on the
second phase – setting up contain-
erized microservices applications
on Red Hat, post which the digital
bank will be ready to go live.
According to Menikh, once it
goes live, the biggest benefit for
the digital bank will be optimiza-
tion of its budgets thanks to the
unified and scalable platform and
investments in using OpenShift
containerized platform. Using Red
Hat technology will also offer the
customer enhanced efficiencies
by at least 50 times. Security is
another key benefit as the tech-
nology offers a certified and highly
secure platform, which is critical
for a digital bank.
Menikhadded,“Itdefinitelywas
a huge amount of work to carry out
the large-scale deployment. But
thanks to our team’s unequalled
technical proficiency and profes-
sionalism, we were able to exceed
customer expectations. The digital
bank is expected to be launched

infrastructure consultancy, cloud,
network security, systems integra-

Rohit Bhargava, Practice
Head, Cloud and Security at Cloud
Box Technologies, said, “All our
previous engagements with the
customer were reactive. As they
grew their operations, we ful-
filled everything around software,
hardware and services. For this
business case, we realized infra-
structure alone could not solve the
customer’s challenges.”
The educational institute’s
hardware footprint was growing to
unmanageable levels as more ap-
plications and students onboard-
ed. It was reaching a point where it
could not add any more devices in
its physical IT environment. For any
growing business, having faster ap-
plication response and on-demand
and future resources are key man-
dates for scaling effectively.
“This is when we proposed
VMware based solution as it is
hardware agnostic and well ac-
cepted in the region. It helped us
assure the customer that they
can achieve better efficiency by
reducing their reliance on hard-
ware,” he explained.
Once the Cloud Box team

of VMware, it became the choice

“It enables the live migration
of running virtual machines from
one physical server to another with
zero downtime, continuous service
availability, and complete transac-

tive aspect and highly commend-
ed by the customer as it ensured
no disruption to their operations,”
Bhargava added.
Each school within the cus-
tomer’s large portfolio was located
in separate campuses and had dif-
ferent infrastructures. This meant
the Cloud Box team had to choose
different VMware instances for ap-
plication licenses for each campus.
“This was done in phases and it
took us close to six months to bring
the customer’s whole operations
into the VMware environment,” he
said. “It was a smooth experience
where the customer could utilize
its virtualized application environ-
ment easily and ensure business
continuity was not affected.”
Focused on a consultative sell-

value, the solutions provider also
took care of the customer’s entire

Post the VMware implemen-

was able to significantly enhance
its operational efficiency and re-

Identity and Application Access
and implement stronger user au-
thentication,” said Abhilash Thu-
laseedharan, Managing Director,
Fox Data Dubai. “With our market
experience, we were confident
that global leader Okta’s Work-
force Identity Management solu-
tions would help solve the cus-
tomer’s challenges.”
During the discussion, Fox
Data learned that the semi-gov-
ernment entity was looking to
modernize its identity platform,
bring in two-factor authentication
technology and introduce a single
sign-on for various applications
access. This modernization of IT
would make it easier for its 600
plus workforce and additional con-
tractors who access their network.
With the customer using
a traditional identity directo-
ry platform, the Fox Data team
demonstrated the huge perks it
would enjoy with Okta solutions
by showing various use cases
and detailed PoC. After a month
of rigorous evaluation of Okta’s
solutions, the customer saw the
unique value the technology could
offer for its business.
The Fox Data team implement-
ed the Okta Workforce Identity
Platform, with its four modules –
single sign-on, adaptive multifac-
tor authentication, lifecycle man-
agement and universal directory,
at the customer site.
Thulaseedharan explained,
“As a vendor-neutral technology,
Okta solutions can be paired with
thousands of pre-integrated appli-
cations as well as legacy technol-
ogies easily. That is not the case
with several of Okta’s competitors.
Another added advantage that
Okta brought to the table was its
wide market experience when
it came to integrating the cus-
tomer’s homegrown applications
seamlessly with its own.”
While it was challenging to
accommodate the customer’s re-
quirements for advanced modules
on a limited budget, the Fox Data
team and its distributor Redington

“Thanks to the Okta deployment,
the customer was able to securely
access its IT systems and business
applications remotely during the
pandemic lockdown without any
operational disruptions.”
Another huge advantage the
customer leveraged was the ca-
pability to automate onboarding
and offloading of users quickly
from an HR and IT perspective,
which was a step towards HR driv-
en IT provisioning.
“When employees leave the
company, it can take up to as many
as five days for a small organiza-
tion or 15 days for a bigger one to
revoke access to critical appli-
cations. With the Okta platform,
this is now possible with just a
click – a notable value-add for the
semi-government customer,” add-
ed Thulaseedharan.
The customer now also had
robust security and visibility to
questions like – Who was ac-
cessing the system? When were
they accessing it? What can they
access? What can they do with
that access?
“These are the major ques-
tions faced by IT departments,
and it is difficult to answer them
without a technology like Okta,”
he said. “We are a dependable

prehensive suite of security

Pavan  Tolani, Cloud  Archi-
tect, Virus Rescuers, said, “Help-
ing customers close gaps and
holes within their IT infrastruc-
ture from both security and busi-
ness continuity standpoints is
our key area of focus.”
According to Tolani, the cus-
tomer’s primary challenge was
the lack of an email security that
could help users assess the au-
thenticity of the emails they re-
ceived. This resulted in wasted
time and low productivity. The
second challenge was not being
able to recover deleted data from
mailboxes beyond a certain num-
ber of days, especially when an
employee resigned from the job.
“Considering these two main
challenges, we concluded that
Barracuda, the global leader in
security, application delivery
and data protection solutions,
is the only player that offers one
centralized console and man-
agement interface that helps to
achieve these business goals,”
Tolani explained.

centralize his data across multi-

he said. “We also deployed a sixth
module called Barracuda Senti-

cation platform based on AI. As
these solutions were all from one
cloud provider, it allowed the cus-

efficiently.”
The team expertly imple-

ensuring zero downtime and zero
loss for the customer.
Post the deployment, the
number of spam emails that users
received significantly reduced.
The customer’s IT department no
longer had to invest time in eval-

to the newly integrated Outlook
plugin which directly reported to
the platform itself.
“The all-in-one solution from
Barracuda has greatly helped in
removal of malicious emails from
users’ mailboxes, right from day

restores of data, which was acci-

With the customer using a traditional identity directo- ry platform, the Fox Data team demonstrated the huge perks it would enjoy with Okta solutions by showing various use cases and detailed PoC. After a month of rigorous evaluation of Okta’s solutions, the customer saw the unique value the technology could offer for its business. The Fox Data team implement- ed the Okta Workforce Identity Platform, with its four modules – single sign-on, adaptive multifac- tor authentication, lifecycle man- agement and universal directory, at the customer site. Thulaseedharan explained, “As a vendor-neutral technology, Okta solutions can be paired with thousands of pre-integrated appli- cations as well as legacy technol- ogies easily. That is not the case with several of Okta’s competitors. Another added advantage that Okta brought to the table was its wide market experience when it came to integrating the cus- tomer’s homegrown applications seamlessly with its own.” While it was challenging to accommodate the customer’s re- quirements for advanced modules on a limited budget, the Fox Data team and its distributor Redington Value, played a crucial role in being flexible and supportive in deliver- ing the first full-fledged workforce H eadquartered out of Dubai, Fox Data is a two-year-old cy- bersecurity spe- cialist solutions provider cater- ing to corporate and public sec- tor organiza- tions across the UAE. With the Okta platform, this is now possible with just a click – a notable value-add for the semi-government customer,” add- ed Thulaseedharan. The customer now also had robust security and visibility to questions like – Who was ac- cessing the system? When were they accessing it? What can they access? What can they do with that access? “These are the major ques- tions faced by IT departments, and it is difficult to answer them without a technology like Okta,” he said. “We are a dependable partner in their Identity Manage- ment journey. Pavan  Tolani, Cloud  Archi- tect, Virus Rescuers, said, “Help- ing customers close gaps and holes within their IT infrastruc- ture from both security and busi- ness continuity standpoints is our key area of focus.” According to Tolani, the cus- tomer’s primary challenge was the lack of an email security that could help users assess the au- thenticity of the emails they re- ceived. This resulted in wasted time and low productivity. The second challenge was not being able to recover deleted data from mailboxes beyond a certain num- ber of days, especially when an employee resigned from the job. “Considering these two main challenges, we concluded that Barracuda, the global leader in security, application delivery and data protection solutions, is the only player that offers one centralized console and man- agement interface that helps to achieve these business goals,” Tolani explained. The Virus Rescuers team proposed Barracuda Total Email Protection solutions and show- cased three modules in addition to Backup and Email Security. As these solutions were all from one cloud provider, it allowed the cus- tomer to take actions swiftly and efficiently.” The team expertly imple- mented these six modules end- to-end within a week while also ensuring zero downtime and zero loss for the customer. Post the deployment, the number of spam emails that users received significantly reduced. The customer’s IT department no longer had to invest time in eval- uating suspicious emails, thanks to the newly integrated Outlook plugin which directly reported to the platform itself. “The all-in-one solution from Barracuda has greatly helped in removal of malicious emails from users’ mailboxes, right from day one.
