1) Bananas are the number one cash crop for farmers in the area, though women make up 70% of farmers and receive less training than men.
2) Traditionally a woman's crop, banana production has shifted to more of a cash crop for men as the coffee industry has declined.
3) Women face more constraints in banana marketing like lack of organized groups, time, resources, and unsuitable payment systems. This has led to a separation of roles and responsibilities for men and women.

The study used a modified Women's Empowerment in Agriculture Index to evaluate empowerment across six domains, including a new health domain. Results showed men were more empowered than women, especially in households selling milk through other means instead of a cooperative. Both economic and rights factors contributed to disempowerment. The conclusion calls for simultaneously addressing economic and rights issues in interventions to achieve equitable gender impacts.
The Cereal Systems Initiative for South Asia (CSISA) aims to reduce poverty and improve well-being for rural households in South Asia by increasing annual income by $289 per household over 7 years. It focuses on introducing higher yielding rice, wheat and maize varieties, as well as improved crop and resource management practices. Baseline surveys are being conducted across 9 hub locations in Bangladesh, India, Nepal and Pakistan to evaluate adoption of technologies, income impacts, and participation of poor and marginalized groups such as women farmers. The project recognizes women play important roles in cereal production but often have less access to resources and aims to ensure both men and women benefit equitably from project technologies and activities.

The Food Safety Working Group (FSWG) in Vietnam was created in 2015 at the request of the Deputy Prime Minister to address food safety issues in the country. It brings together government agencies, ministries, and development partners to facilitate joint policy dialogue and improve food safety. Over eight years of operations led by different organizations, the FSWG has contributed to various initiatives. However, it faces challenges of diminished government participation over time and dependence on active members. Going forward, it will strengthen its operations by integrating under Vietnam's One Health Partnership framework to better engage stakeholders and achieve policy impacts.
