Vagbhata was a 5th century Ayurvedic scholar and author of two influential texts, Astangasangraha and Astangahrudaya. He was the grandson of Vagbhata and the son of Simhagupta. Some scholars believe Astangasangraha was authored by Vriddha Vagbhata and Astangahrudaya by Laghu Vagbhata. While Tisata and Chandrata claimed to be descendants of Vagbhata, it is believed they lived several centuries after Vagbhata, making those claims impossible.
