Job Description: This position serves as the General Counsel/Supervisory Attorney Advisor to the
District’s Chief Procurement Officer and a procurement bureau tasked with meeting the
procurement needs of major District agencies. This position provides expert guidance to
ensure compliance with relevant contracting laws, principles and regulations.
Knowledge Required by the Position: Mastery of the concepts, laws, theories, principles,
practices and techniques of legal proceedings sufficient to supervise and direct
representation of the District. Thorough know ledge of precedent legal matters. Thorough
knowledge of qualitative and quantitative analytic methods and techniques to analyze data
and to identify and isolate controlling legal issues from complex factual situations. Knowledge
of the current automated systems to identify required data.
Qualifications (Education and/or Experience): Possession of a J.D. degree from an American
Bar Association (ABA) accredited law school and have at least eight (8) years post J.D. legal
experience with a minimum of four (4) years in a supervisory or managerial role in legal service.
District of Columbia Bar membership or eligible for waiver into the bar is required.
