What is UXD?
User Experience Design (UXD or UED) is a broad
term used to explain all aspects of a person’s
experience with the system, including the
 interface, graphics, industrial design, physical
interaction, and the manual. It also refers to
     the application of user-centered design
   practices to generate cohesive, predictive
and desirable designs based on holistic
       consideration of users’ experience.
“person’s experience with the
     system, including the
 interface, graphics, industrial
  design, physical interaction,
        and the manual”
Focus on:
• interface
• graphics
• industrial design
• physical interaction
5 quality components
• Learnability first time users

• Efficiency task speed

• Memorability return users able to continue

• Errors how many errors do users make

• Satisfaction how was the experience
Why is
  UXD so
important
Why is it important to have UXD?
On the Web, it is a necessary condition
for survival. If a website is difficult to
         use, people leave. If the
homepage fails to clearly state what a
company offers and what users can do
on the site, people leave. If users get
lost on a website, they leave.
What is the
process for
   UXD?

User Experience Design - Why, How and Where

Editor's Notes

  • #26 Learnability: How easy is it for users to accomplish basic tasks the first time they encounter the design?Efficiency: Once users have learned the design, how quickly can they perform tasks?Memorability: When users return to the design after a period of not using it, how easily can they reestablish proficiency?Errors: How many errors do users make, how severe are these errors, and how easily can they recover from the errors?Satisfaction: How pleasant is it to use the design?
