Through this presentation, you will get to know about Edge computing and explore the fields where it is needed.
You can start exploring the technical knowledge by seeing what industries are working on now-days
Edge computing is a method of enabling small processing units near to the source of the data from sensors and central data servers. It utilizes cloud computing systems by performing data processing at the edge of the network, near the source of the data. This reduces the communications bandwidth needed between sensors by performing analytics and data processing.
The proliferation of Internet of Things (IoT) and the success of rich cloud services have pushed the horizon of a new computing paradigm, edge computing, which calls for processing the data at the edge of the network. Edge computing has the potential to address the concerns of response time requirement, battery life constraint, bandwidth cost saving, as well as data safety and privacy. In this paper, we introduce the definition of edge computing, followed by several case studies, ranging from cloud offloading to smart home and city, as well as collaborative edge to materialize the concept of edge computing. Finally, we present several challenges and opportunities in the field of edge computing, and hope this paper will gain attention from the community and inspire more research in this direction.
Edge computing refers to the enabling technologies allowing computation to be performed at the edge of the network, on downstream data on behalf of cloud services and upstream data on behalf of IoT services. Here we define “edge” as any computing and network resources along the path between data sources and cloud data centers. For example, a smart phone is the edge between body things and cloud, a gateway in a smart home is the edge between home things and cloud, a micro data center and a cloudlet is the edge between a mobile device and cloud. The rationale of edge computing is that computing should happen at the proximity of data sources. From our point of view, edge computing is interchangeable with fog computing, but edge computing focus more toward the things side, while fog computing focus more on the infrastructure side. Edge computing could have as big an impact on our society as has the cloud computing.

5 Breakthrough Studies in Cloud Computing | AcefoneAISWARYA MOHAN
Cloud computing helps organisations and individuals to work at their comfort! Here are the 5 breakthrough studies being made inorder to make the cloud more efficient and reliable.
Edge computing allows data produced by internet of things (IoT) devices to be processed closer to where it is created instead of sending it across long routes to data centers or clouds.
Doing this computing closer to the edge of the network lets organizations analyze important data in near real-time – a need of organizations across many industries, including manufacturing, health care, telecommunications and finance.Edge computing deployments are ideal in a variety of circumstances. One is when IoT devices have poor connectivity and it’s not efficient for IoT devices to be constantly connected to a central cloud.
Other use cases have to do with latency-sensitive processing of information. Edge computing reduces latency because data does not have to traverse over a network to a data center or cloud for processing. This is ideal for situations where latencies of milliseconds can be untenable, such as in financial services or manufacturing.
Technology that is going to create a revolution in every Industry including Health care. What is it, what are the tools and what is the outcome?
NASA started the research on Twins due to space travel and the need to have real time feedback of components. Now it is extending to even Health care to having a Human twin.

Streetlight poles and luminaires are ideal hosts for connecting sensors. They provide fine-grained information about the urban environment, and are used to provide adaptive lighting but also feed into many municipal systems and departments. Examples include minute-by-minute traffic analytics or street-by-street air quality monitoring.
But if street lighting is to become the catalyst for “smart city” applications, lighting professionals need to understand when to harness sensor data, and when to consider application data or predictive “big data”. The world is changing and we need to take a wider view. Keith will focus on deployed use cases to help to make sense of the practical and economic implications of these important developments.

An integrated geospatial system, the Dynamic GIS is able to translate change, on the fly, into actionable information. Completely connecting sensors to software and software to application specific solutions (through on-demand web based spatial modeling) ultimately provides a means to protect lives, infrastructure (property), and society. The Dynamic GIS supports the complete geospatial information lifecycle from capture to delivery. Sensor technology captures snapshots of geography for a given location over a period of time; this includes airborne sensors (airborne digital imaging, LiDAR, UAV), satellites, and terrestrial sensors (total station, GPS, video, terrestrial LiDAR, handheld devices). The next step is processing, which includes transforming vector, raster, terrain data into actionable information, with tools for fusing and integrating source content into software applications for the creation and update of geospatial data and information products. Managing, fusing, and sharing geospatial data across departments and regions, enables an organization to connect data and information. Finally, rapidly and securely delivering integrated information products ensures the right individuals can make timely decisions. This includes on-demand geo-processing over the Internet, to mobile clients and the cloud through vertical market-focused SaaS implementations.

Rapid increase in the volume and number of imagery data sets places significant pressures on data managers – they need to be able to place new data sets in a controlled enterprise data management environment that ensures the maximum number of authorised users are able to find and access the resource.
As you may be aware, RADAR (Radio Detection and Ranging) uses radio waves to send and time the amount of time it takes for a signal to return to determine how far away an object is.
Similarly to this, LiDAR gathers data about the things the laser bounces off of by measuring the "Time of Flight" (ToF) of a laser beam.

Shaun Walsh, senior vice president of marketing and corporate development, speaks on this topic at SNW Europe on 10/29/13:
IT is migrating to a new model of computing and business alignment that is not just about the cloud, not just about bring your own device (BYOD), but a new way of thinking about how the building blocks of IT are developed, purchased and assembled to achieve business goals. We will explore the great migrations in the IT world, starting with the new IT strategy (hybrid everywhere), expanding users’ expectations (going beyond instantaneous), new technology models (software defined computing), defining new core building blocks, (everything has to be a platform) and how selling to IT will change (re-definable value vs. ROI positioning). During this presentation, we will look beyond the hype curve and buzzword compliance to identify the most influential IT migrations that will change the way we work, partner and profit for the next decade.
The demand of bandwidth is exploding irrespective to the global economic slowdown. It comes from new sources and new devices and the change is going fast. We must not forget to consider our fast-moving environment when telling our new story. These global trends affect us as a carrier. And at the same time our network and services are a part of making them possible.
Socialization of everything - Online socialization is changing the very basis for how people behave and interact. On an individual level, and in society at large.
Anywhereization - Wherever you are, you want instant access to everything, no matter where it is. As a global carrier we are keeping it all together
A flattening world - Today we see global access to knowledge that previously was limited to a chosen few – all made possible through connectivity. We support this for instance through our donations to the Wikimedia foundation, which runs Wikipedia.
The age of diversity - Access to network capabilities will come in many shapes and forms, with diverse business models coexisting for the foreseeable future.
Connecting the dots - We believe that every industry will eventually rely on connectivity to create value. The ones that best leverage the network will outpace their competitors.
The world is going online and it is the carriers that make it happen.
We have to optimize our network so that you can access anything, anywhere, anytime

Neuro-symbolic is not enough, we need neuro-*semantic*Frank van Harmelen
Neuro-symbolic (NeSy) AI is on the rise. However, simply machine learning on just any symbolic structure is not sufficient to really harvest the gains of NeSy. These will only be gained when the symbolic structures have an actual semantics. I give an operational definition of semantics as “predictable inference”.
All of this illustrated with link prediction over knowledge graphs, but the argument is general.

Elevating Tactical DDD Patterns Through Object CalisthenicsDorra BARTAGUIZ
After immersing yourself in the blue book and its red counterpart, attending DDD-focused conferences, and applying tactical patterns, you're left with a crucial question: How do I ensure my design is effective? Tactical patterns within Domain-Driven Design (DDD) serve as guiding principles for creating clear and manageable domain models. However, achieving success with these patterns requires additional guidance. Interestingly, we've observed that a set of constraints initially designed for training purposes remarkably aligns with effective pattern implementation, offering a more ‘mechanical’ approach. Connector Corner: Automate dynamic content and events by pushing a buttonDianaGray10
Here is something new! In our next Connector Corner webinar, we will demonstrate how you can use a single workflow to:
Create a campaign using Mailchimp with merge tags/fields
Send an interactive Slack channel message (using buttons)
Have the message received by managers and peers along with a test email for review
But there’s more:
In a second workflow supporting the same use case, you’ll see:
Your campaign sent to target colleagues for approval
If the “Approve” button is clicked, a Jira/Zendesk ticket is created for the marketing design team
But—if the “Reject” button is pushed, colleagues will be alerted via Slack message
Join us to learn more about this new, human-in-the-loop capability, brought to you by Integration Service connectors.

Kubernetes & AI - Beauty and the Beast !?! @KCD Istanbul 2024Tobias Schneck
As AI technology is pushing into IT I was wondering myself, as an “infrastructure container kubernetes guy”, how get this fancy AI technology get managed from an infrastructure operational view? Is it possible to apply our lovely cloud native principals as well? What benefit’s both technologies could bring to each other?
Let me take this questions and provide you a short journey through existing deployment models and use cases for AI software. On practical examples, we discuss what cloud/on-premise strategy we may need for applying it to our own infrastructure to get it to work from an enterprise perspective. I want to give an overview about infrastructure requirements and technologies, what could be beneficial or limiting your AI use cases in an enterprise environment. An interactive Demo will give you some insides, what approaches I got already working for real.
