Reverse Engineering: Prime2 to Prime1 using FME. The purpose of the project is to provide up to date Prime1 data, which has been re-engineered from Prime2, for those customers whose applications are unable to utilise Prime2. Using FME we took three different approaches to the project. I will provide a brief overview of options 1 and 2 and why they didn't provide us with the required output. I will then focus on the option 3, we have implemented this option. I will give a brief demo of the FME workbench. (1) Converting Prime2 to a Prime1 GFO (2) Writing from the Prime2 Oracle database to our current Prime1 Oracle database (3) Extracting Prime2 updates, out putting to a GFO format to enable graphic operators to update Prime1.

While Microstation does not support feature attributes, data integrity is preserved by combining with Microsoft Access Linkage support. In addition, the plugin is written with full Dynamic reader and writer support, making it scalable and adaptive to data model changes.
Koha Circulation checkout improvement

For the City of Oak Ridge, Kenric McCay needed to import data from AutoCAD to GIS. His department had never done this before, and they were trying to phase out the use of AutoCAD for mapping. One problem was importing anchors into GIS because many of the anchors were multiple lines. They did not want to spend a great deal of time individually merging all these multiple lines together to form one anchor. A solution for this was to use FME. Not knowing, and still learning FME, he attempted to merge all lines associated with each induvial anchor together. He converted this to a shapefile and loaded it into GIS. The task was completed with help from the forum and from webinars.

Git rebase rewrites commit history by cutting commits from one branch and applying them to another branch, changing the commit IDs. This cleans up history but can cause issues if commits are pushed. Git merge keeps the original commits and adds a merge commit, keeping full history but potentially cluttering it. Rebase is best for local branches before pushing, while merge is better for integrating public branches to avoid rewriting shared history.

Switching of GUI Framework: The case from Spec to Spec2

How to Create Business Value with FME Flow Automation Apps
In this customer use case, we explain how to turn a business need into a fully automated process. The business need was a scheduled import process with default parameters and a second almost identical parallel process with specific parameters. This initially meant that there were two, almost, copies of the same process that were running alongside each other, with the need to maintain both. The first Automation scheduled a process that reads a zipfile containing a TXT and a GPKG file on a daily frequency from sFTP and loads them into FME Flow Shared Resources.
Thereafter, the default parameters inside the TXT file are used to import certain GPKG feature classes to specific schemas inside of the customer database. Whilst the other manual process Automation uses the parameters from a user-supplied TXT that imports needed feature classes from an upload GPKG to user-defined schemas. These two processes were configured in two parallel automations before, but with Automation Apps, new in FME Flow 2022.2, the Automation process can be re-used to make user-supplied manual runs and the need for a duplicate process is halted. The user data and automatically supplied data can be integrated into a singular Automation, by using the configurable parameters of the Automation App to mirror the default parameters of the scheduled process. The user parameters needed for the process to start and run correctly, can be read automatically from the TXT file or be supplied in the parameter fields in the Automation App. The end user can start the process whenever, while there is now only one working process that needs to be maintained. The data will be processed automatically on a schedule and the same process can be used to import user-supplied data to the needed environment while not interfering in the daily scheduled import.
Trunk based development for Beginners
Trunk-based development is a workflow where developers work directly on a main branch called the "trunk". The trunk is always in a deployable state. Short lived branches are used for developing new features which are then merged into the trunk after passing tests. Releases are cut from the trunk periodically. This allows for continuous integration and deployment while maintaining a stable release.

Many people might already know Puppet. I am giving an overview on Puppet limitations and how Puppet Bolt helps you to add the missing parts of Puppet. I am going to explain the differences between workflows and the according tasks and orchestration and the plans- You will receive an overview on the integration between Puppet and Puppet Bolt and how to develop and use Bolt Tasks and Plans.

Switching of GUI Framework: The case from Spec to Spec2
This document discusses migrating GUI frameworks from Spec to Spec2. It presents the problem of needing to migrate user interfaces as frameworks evolve. The approach taken was to create a GUI meta-model that represents GUI components independently of frameworks. This allows capturing components from Spec and transforming them to Spec2. The results section evaluates importing and exporting components between the two frameworks using the meta-model approach. Future work is needed to better preserve visual appearance and behavior during migration.
Personal robot industry

How to Create Business Value with FME Flow Automation Apps
In this customer use case, we explain how to turn a business need into a fully automated process. The business need was a scheduled import process with default parameters and a second almost identical parallel process with specific parameters. This initially meant that there were two, almost, copies of the same process that were running alongside each other, with the need to maintain both. The first Automation scheduled a process that reads a zipfile containing a TXT and a GPKG file on a daily frequency from sFTP and loads them into FME Flow Shared Resources.
Thereafter, the default parameters inside the TXT file are used to import certain GPKG feature classes to specific schemas inside of the customer database. Whilst the other manual process Automation uses the parameters from a user-supplied TXT that imports needed feature classes from an upload GPKG to user-defined schemas. These two processes were configured in two parallel automations before, but with Automation Apps, new in FME Flow 2022.2, the Automation process can be re-used to make user-supplied manual runs and the need for a duplicate process is halted. The user data and automatically supplied data can be integrated into a singular Automation, by using the configurable parameters of the Automation App to mirror the default parameters of the scheduled process. The user parameters needed for the process to start and run correctly, can be read automatically from the TXT file or be supplied in the parameter fields in the Automation App. The end user can start the process whenever, while there is now only one working process that needs to be maintained. The data will be processed automatically on a schedule and the same process can be used to import user-supplied data to the needed environment while not interfering in the daily scheduled import.
Trunk based development for Beginners
Trunk-based development is a workflow where developers work directly on a main branch called the "trunk". The trunk is always in a deployable state. Short lived branches are used for developing new features which are then merged into the trunk after passing tests. Releases are cut from the trunk periodically. This allows for continuous integration and deployment while maintaining a stable release.
Brooklin Mirror Maker - How and why we moved away from Kafka Mirror Maker
Brooklin Mirror Maker (BMM) was created by LinkedIn to address limitations in Kafka Mirror Maker (KMM) for mirroring data between data centers at large scale. BMM is built on LinkedIn's stream ingestion service called Brooklin which provides better operability, fault isolation, and performance optimizations compared to KMM. BMM uses REST APIs for dynamic management and diagnostics of mirroring pipelines. It also includes features like flushless produce and passthrough compression to improve performance. LinkedIn has fully replaced KMM with BMM and plans to open source BMM in the future.

For the last 7 years I’ve been focused outwardly on exploring Kafka application development challenges, but recently I decided to look inward and see what I could discover about the performance, scalability and resource characteristics of the Kafka clusters themselves. Using a suite of Performance Engineering techniques, I will reveal some surprising discoveries about cosmic Kafka mysteries in our data centres, related to: cluster sizes and distribution (using Zipf’s Law), horizontal vs. vertical scalability, and predicting Kafka performance using metrics, modelling and regression techniques. These insights are relevant to Kafka developers and operators.
