INTERNET OF THINGS
The Internet of Things (IoT) is a computing concept
that describes the idea of everyday physical objects
being connected to the internet and being able to
identify themselves to other devices.
The Internet of Things (IoT) is the extension
of Internet connectivityinto physical devices and
everyday objects.
Embedded with electronics, Internet connectivity,
and other forms of hardware (suchas sensors), these
devices can communicate and interact with others
over the Internet, and they can be remotely
monitored and controlled.
ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE
Computer science defines AI researchas the
study of “Intelligent Agents": any device that
perceives its environment and takes actions
that maximize its chance of successfully
achieving its goals.
A more elaborate definition characterizes AI as
“a system’s abilityto correctly interpret
external data, to learnfromsuch data, and to
use those learnings to achieve specificgoals and
tasks through flexible adaptation.”
MACHINE LEARNING
Machine learning is an Applicationof Artificial Intelligence
(AI) that provides systems the ability to automatically learn
and improve fromexperience without being explicitly
programmed.
Machine learning focuses on the development of computer
programs that can access data and use it learnfor
themselves.
The processof learning begins withobservations or data,
suchas, directexperience, or instruction, in order to look
for patterns in data and make better decisions in the
future based on the examples that we provide.
CLOUDCOMPUTING
Cloud computing is the delivery of different services through
the Internet. These resourcesinclude tools and applications
likedata storage, servers, databases, networking, and
software.
Rather than keepingfileson a proprietary harddrive or local
storage device, cloud-basedstorage makes it possibleto save
themto a remote database. As longas an electronicdevice
has access to the web, it has access to the dataand the
software programs to run it.
Cloud computing is a popular option for people and
businessesfor a number of reasons including cost savings,
increased productivity, speed and efficiency, performance,
and security.

Edge computing allows data producedby Internet
of Things (IoT) devices to be processedcloser to
where it is createdinsteadof sending it across
long routes to data centers or clouds.
Doing this computing closer to the edge of the
network lets organizations analyze important data
in near real-time – a needof organizations across
many industries, including manufacturing, health
care, telecommunications and finance.
Despite the improvements of network technology, data centers
cannot guarantee acceptable transfer rates and response times,
which could be a critical requirement for many applications.
Furthermore devices at the edge constantly consume data coming
from the cloud, forcing companies to build content delivery
networks to decentralize data and service provisioning, leveraging
physical proximity to the end user.

How Edge Computing Compares with
Cloud Computing
The keydistinctionbetween edge computing and
cloud computingis where and how data is stored
and processed. In cloudcomputing, IoT devices
capture data and the entire data set is submitted for
further processing to the cloud.
In edge computing, information is gatheredand
partially, or entirely, processedlocally on the IoT
device. Then, only pertinent processed information is
shared withthe data center as necessary.

INTERNET OF THINGS The Internet of Things (IoT) is a computing concept that describes the idea of everyday physical objects being connected to the internet and being able to identify themselves to other devices. The Internet of Things (IoT) is the extension of Internet connectivityinto physical devices and everyday objects. Embedded with electronics, Internet connectivity, and other forms of hardware (suchas sensors), these devices can communicate and interact with others over the Internet, and they can be remotely monitored and controlled.

ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE Computer science defines AI researchas the study of “Intelligent Agents": any device that perceives its environment and takes actions that maximize its chance of successfully achieving its goals. A more elaborate definition characterizes AI as “a system’s abilityto correctly interpret external data, to learnfromsuch data, and to use those learnings to achieve specificgoals and tasks through flexible adaptation.”

MACHINE LEARNING Machine learning is an Applicationof Artificial Intelligence (AI) that provides systems the ability to automatically learn and improve fromexperience without being explicitly programmed. Machine learning focuses on the development of computer programs that can access data and use it learnfor themselves. The processof learning begins withobservations or data, suchas, directexperience, or instruction, in order to look for patterns in data and make better decisions in the future based on the examples that we provide.

As longas an electronicdevice has access to the web, it has access to the dataand the software programs to run it. Cloud computing is a popular option for people and businessesfor a number of reasons including cost savings, increased productivity, speed and efficiency, performance, and security.

EDGECOMPUTING Edge computing allows data producedby Internet of Things (IoT) devices to be processedcloser to where it is createdinsteadof sending it across long routes to data centers or clouds. Doing this computing closer to the edge of the network lets organizations analyze important data in near real-time – a needof organizations across many industries, including manufacturing, health care, telecommunications and finance.
  • 14. Despite the improvements of network technology, data centers cannot guarantee acceptable transfer rates and response times, which could be a critical requirement for many applications. Furthermore devices at the edge constantly consume data coming from the cloud, forcing companies to build content delivery networks to decentralize data and service provisioning, leveraging physical proximity to the end user.

  • 18. How Edge Computing Compares with Cloud Computing The keydistinctionbetween edge computing and cloud computingis where and how data is stored and processed. In cloudcomputing, IoT devices capture data and the entire data set is submitted for further processing to the cloud. In edge computing, information is gatheredand partially, or entirely, processedlocally on the IoT device. Then, only pertinent processed information is shared withthe data center as necessary.
