HOW LEARNING AGREEMENTS are HANDLED at PRESENTheion_project
The document discusses a presentation on how learning agreements are currently handled. It describes the following:
- Work Package 2 of the HEION project focused on studying current practices regarding learning agreement and ECTS handling.
- The presentation methods included a literature review, questionnaire distributed to Erasmus students, and focus group meetings with stakeholders from partner institutions.
- The literature review found little published information on learning agreement processes. Questionnaires and focus groups identified common problems faced by students and staff.
- Key findings were that while guidelines exist, institutions interpret them differently, causing issues. Students often faced changes requiring learning agreement amendments without proper procedures.
- It was concluded an online tool could help standardize processes
Rui Raposo from the University of Aveiro held a final conference on October 29-30, 2012 to discuss a project aimed at simplifying administrative procedures for establishing Erasmus student exchange programs. The project developed a prototype tool to streamline the creation and approval of learning agreements between universities. The tool allows multiple user roles to efficiently handle agreements and provides data visualization to analyze trends in the Erasmus exchange process. Feedback was gathered at the conference to identify ways to improve the tool and ensure it meets universities' needs.

This document discusses the EGRACONS project which aims to develop a common approach to grade conversion between European higher education institutions. The project seeks to (1) map different grading practices across Europe, (2) define suitable aggregation levels for comparison, (3) harmonize interpretation of grading systems, and (4) create an automatic online tool for grade conversion. The document provides examples of different national grading scales and discusses methodology for statistical distribution-based conversion between scales.
Using technology to improve the use of ECTS and to facilitate our workloadheion_project
The document summarizes a final conference for the HEION project, which aimed to simplify administrative procedures for establishing credit transfers between European higher education institutions. The conference will be held on October 29-30, 2013 and will share the project's results, experiences with student mobility, and seek feedback. The project involved 7 partner institutions and developed an online tool to help with managing ECTS Learning Agreements. Critical issues identified included information being scattered across multiple places and slow communication through mail.
- A literature review was conducted along with an online questionnaire that received 1,069 responses and 3 focus groups.
- The online questionnaire found that most students found it difficult to find courses at their host university and that 75% changed courses after arriving.
- 90% of students thought that an online tool could improve the learning agreement and ECTS process.
- Focus groups discussed challenges with filling out learning agreements, making changes upon arrival, and delays in receiving final grades. They felt an online tool could help address these issues.
