Judaism s Views On Judaism
JUDAISM
First of all, before I begin with my research on Judaism, I did not consider that the Jews only
believes in God. I thought that they accepted every word from the bible and that even though they
have a Jewish calendar and different practices, that the bible that I use was quite similar with them
with both Old Testament and New Testament. I knew that Judaismwas the one of the oldest
religions in the world that still exists today and was recorded in the bible. I had no indication that
tells me that they observed different traditions and there are different branches of Judaism. I also
thought that Judaism was Christianity. Both believe in God, (monotheism) the only God almighty,
the one who created the universe, and because both shared the Hebrew Scriptures. I also thought
that all Jewish men have beard and lovely hair. I thought that males were black hat and black coat
at all times on Shabbath Other things that I expect was that some of the holidays that Christianity
celebrates, the Jews also celebrates it like Passover, palm Sundays, Easter. Since my religion is
closed to the Judaism faith practices, I thought that they performs a foot washing ceremony before
communion and that they gather on the Sabbath which is Saturday for worship. I also assumed that
not all Jews, but certain Jews kept the kosher. I also thought that all men covered their heads and
during worship or in the temple women were to cover their heads.
What I found out is quite different then

Examples Of Nonviolent Resistance
There are many ways can nonviolent resistance be more powerful than violent retaliation. First,
there are many techniques about nonviolent resistance that are sit ins, which means the patience to
harm, protest, that means to disagree about something and walk in the street in peaceful way,
boycotts, which means to stop buy something from someone or company, marches, that means to
walk with a group of people for a long way, or speeches, which means to talk in front the people.
For example, black students wanted to sit in a lunch counter and tried to ordered food, but they
were refused, so they left and came back the next day, but they were threated and they got national
attention. In addition, company of bus refused to sit black beside white,

The Nuclear Family
Today the idea of the nuclear family being normal has changed. It is now common to see the
mixture of two families connected by a second or subsequent marriage, with one or both partners
having children from prior relationships, thereby creating half siblings. Prior to the advent of no
fault divorce, most commonly the idea of blended families included a stepmother or stepfather and
mother or father, and stepchildren, born to one of the parents in a previous marriage. The previous
marriage had been terminated by abandonment or death and the stepparent was seen almost as a
replacement parent. With the advent of no fault divorce and the familydynamics changing, the roles
of the parents are modified, no longer is a stepparent a near replacement for an absent or deceased
parent, but rather an addition to existing parents not part of a relationship but still on the scene.
This can create turmoil in the family as the new couple as parent and stepparent and the children
and stepchildren each try to find their own role. Some would argue it is better for the child or
stepchild to be raised in a two parent home than a single parent family. This creates a positive
environment for the child. Conversely, as the relationship lines are not clearly defined, there is the
possibility of confusion and uncertainty for the child, as they are not certain of the role of the step
parent versus the biological parent. There is also cause for concern, as the biological dynamic of
the family is

Airborne Express Case Study 1
Executive summary
Airborne Express is the third largest and fastest growing international air express delivery
company in America. It held roughly 16% of the domestic express mail market by 1997. It
provides time sensitive delivery of documents, letters, small packages, and freight in the United
States and internationally. The company has several advantages over its rivals, such as it provides
delivery services at a lower cost of up to 20% over FedEx and UPS; it operates the nation s only
privately owned foreign trade zone in Wilmington; it is more flexible and provides more customer
tailored services. It charges lower price but still much guarantee delivery dates (not offered by the
US Postal Service).

Competition: the US domestic express mail market is somewhat in an oligopoly status. The
competition among the big three is quite fierce. Yet normally FedEx and UPS lead the market. The
six other second tier players do not have any threats to the three major players.
The US Postal Service served much of the rest of the market. However, it has a limited popularity
just among residential customers because it is inefficient in package tracking and has a much
worse on time delivery record. It has a legal monopoly for first class letters. But the company is
prohibited by law from offering volume discounts to customers.
DHL and TNT focus on the international market and trans border shipments. DHL offer hard to
reach service since it has hubs in many other different places in the world. It has never invested
heavily in domestic market. TNT focuses its effort on Europe.
BAX Global focuses on heavy cargo. RPS does not offer overnight delivery. It focused on two day
delivery via a ground network. It is known for its efficient ground transportation and its
sophisticated information technology.
The traditional express industry is threatened by facsimile and electronic mails, which have zero
cost. Competition between FedEx and UPS has caused a lower price and more innovations. The
industry is quite consolidated and has a very high barrier to

This makes it a center of businesses, meetings, and conventions. Moreover, the city is very
compact and the transportation makes it very easy to travel around. Because of its diverse
environment, Geneva is the most ideal place to open an international food restaurant such as
Irish restaurant. Moreover, it is easier to operate an Irish restaurant in Geneva than other cities in
Switzerland. Employees in the city are also used to working with people from distinct
backgrounds. Another benefit is that people in Geneva tend to equally accept other national
customs as the local s. It will be less difficult to promote international food in such city than those
which are hardly exposed to multi cultures. In fact, more than 1,200 cuisines are from all over
the world (Republic and State of Geneva: Department of Economy and Health, 2009). Not only
does Geneva have high potential demand due to its high traffic, but also it consists of many
groups of people whom the Restaurant can penetrate. The demand of the Restaurant can be
categorized into two groups, the locals and the tourists. To clarify each group, the locals are people
who reside in Switzerland and the tourists are those who travel from other countries. Among the
locals are many Irish people. Number of Irish associations, for instance the Geneva Irish
Association and the Irish Folk, indicates that there are specific or direct groups of demand for the

High School Curriculum Analysis
The strengths of the curriculum at RAHS is the variety. RAHS offers a variety of electives
including anything from Family and Consumer Science classes to public speaking. With few
requirements in terms of electives, RAHS allows the student to choose their own electives to
match interest in hopes to balance with core classes. However, i wish RAHS offered more post
secondary classes at the school. For juniors and seniors, century courses are offered at Century
collegefor classes such medical careers, educationand even cosmetology. RAHS should offer more
in school post secondary related classes that don t require leaving RAHS as well as taking multiple
electives within a trimester. RAHS should focus more on college and real life preparation

Prison Life In Prison Essay
Opening his eyes, all Jerry sees surrounding him is damp darkness. There are no shadows or
people he can see. No windows but an eerie breeze blows past him, sending chills running up his
arms. He goes to grab his 3ftX3ft blanket that covers only a portion of his body. The only sense
of time he can tell 10am. That is when one of the security guard brings a tray of slop for
breakfast. That s only if you consider oatmeal drowned in 6 month old gravy food. With only
feeling the sun on his skin for two hours every week, his body craves warmth. Jerry has been in
this jail cell for seventeen years for murdering sixteen different people. Jerry pleaded guilty and
was sentenced to life in prison. While some people side with the opinion of sentencing prisoners to
jail for life, others side with the punishment of the death penalty.
Sentencing prisoners to life in jail is a major sentence that destroys lives. The life of the prisoner
and that family. Knowing deep inside that the prisoners mother or father or siblings will never
be able to see them outside of that jail is truly heart breaking. However, they will always know
where they are. Compared to the death penalty, many people believe that sentenced to life will
show how serious the crime was and that it will not be tolerated. Being in that jail cell for 20+
years is torture and shows that that punishment is all you need to understand and repay your crime.
The death penalty costs more, delivers less, and puts innocent lives at risk.

Carl Rogers Chemical Dependency Counseling Model
Introduction
The role of a chemical dependency counselor can be a very challenging, yet extremely rewarding
one. There are many skills and qualities that the successful counselor possesses. Carl Rogers was
the first to spearhead the movement of person centered therapy and he has provided a very
influential theory on how a person in treatment should be treated. He deemed these to be the most
important elements in the therapeutic movement: unconditional positive regard helps makes
change happen because they feel safe and cared about, accurate empathy it is an understanding of
what they are going through, congruence be who you are, and lastly the desire to help (Watkins,
2016). These elements are the basic ingredient needed to embark on the journey of recovery with a
client. This counseling model is intended to provide in depth detail of the counseling process and
covers critical concepts that must be understood to effectively help the chemically dependent. The
definition of addiction, the subsequent theories, prevalent disorders, and treatment processes are
presented as a guide for counseling the chemically dependent.
DSM V criteria for Substance Use Disorder
In order to provide the best counseling possible to aid in the recovery of addiction it is necessary to
fully understand the definition of substance abuse and dependence (aka addiction). Alan Leshner
(1997) defines addiction as an, uncontrollable compulsive drug craving, seeking, and use that
interferes with, if not

The World s Worst Epidemic Of Obesity Essay
Lose The Wheat
Wheat is not the healthy whole grain it was pretending to be. Like a faithful spouse exposed as a
philanderer and polygamist, wheat is not to be trusted. Held up as an icon of health, it is in reality
a major contributor to the world s worst epidemic of obesity and an astounding list of health
problems, from simple annoyances like dandruff to incapacitating conditions like dementia.
These facts are a cataclysmic revelation for most people: they are unsettling, they are upsetting, and
moreover they are downright inconvenient. The condemnation of wheat is as paradigm shifting,
earth shattering, and life changing as the emergence of the Internet, the packaging of collateralized
debt obligations and the collapse of mortgage markets, the upheavals of the Arab Spring ... events
that shook core beliefs, upended comforting habits, and changed worldviews.
Wheat is the Enron of the food world; worse it is the tobacco industry all over again both frauds,
both intentional and both malevolently perpetrated against, and executed n an international scale.
Charming and engaging on the outside, sociopathic and cataclysmic on the inside, it works its way
into your life, wreaking havoc in every conceivable health destroying way.
For the uninitiated, these are undoubtedly bold assertions that fly in the face of nutritional wisdom.

Hierarchy In The Lion King
This image from the Lion King movie is an iconic image that includes all of the characters
shown in the movie. The image displays all the characters in such a way that allows the viewer
to see them all together in one place in which the background represents the setting of the movie.
However, this image can be analyzed, and this results in many of the details showing the idea of
hierarchy. The analyzation and representation of this idea takes a unique approach due to this
movie being an animated movie rather than a normal movie. Despite this unique take on the idea
of hierarchy, the idea is still easy to understand because of extra steps taken to ensure it is
portrayed clearly. My image of the Lion Kingshows the viewer that animals and hierarchy can be
artificially represented.

According to Michela Balconi and Silvia Pagani Recent research found that . . . status hierarchy
requires that individuals express and recognize social status signals, such as visual cues or vocal
calls, which communicate rank and convey expectations about appropriate social behavior
given a hierarchical social context (Balconi Pagani). Hierarchy may be an idea that can be
noticed by external factors such as a person s looks, but this is not always the case. This is
especially true in this Lion King image, since the characters do not wear clothes being that they
are wild animals. As a result, this other way to show hierarchy is used. If a someone is higher up
in the hierarchy, the result is usually that they are happier than other who are not as high up as
they are. This causes the person that is higher up to feel happy, while the person who is not as
high up does not feel happy, in fact, they may feel angry or like they want to get revenge, as shown

Baumol Model Of Cash Management
It was developed by William J. Baumol. The model helps determine a firm s optimum cash balance
under certainty. It is used for cash management. The model helps firms determine the optimum cash
balances that they can keep by considering costs. The costs involved are holding costs (opportunity
costs) and the transactional costs.
Transactional costs are the costs incurred when changing between marketable security and cash.
Holding costs are costs incurred when keeping cash. Opportunity costs are the costs incurred when
the firm chooses to keep cash instead of buying securities. It is also known as interest rate because
it is the interest rate that are foregone by the firm by not investing in marketable securities.
Just like all most model, the Baumol model works with assumptions. The first assumption is that
the firm must be able to forecast its cash requirements and receive a specific flow of cash at
regular intervals. Its cash flows must be certain. The other assumption is that the firm must be able
to change to change the securities that it owns into cash keeping the variable and fixed costs of
transactions the same. The firm must also be aware of it opportunity cost when holding cash. The
opportunity cost should stay constant for a long period of time.
The model works like this. A firm... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

to keep the balance in range. A maximum amount may also be specified to reflect the trade off
between the transaction cost of investing in liquid assets and cost of lost interest if the cash is not

hand. The firm must be able to determine the interest rate, for marketable securities (i), the fixed
transaction cost for trading in securities (c), the standard definition if its daily cash

Psychology Of The Movie Psycho
The movie Psycho was directed by Alfred Hitchcock in 1960. When Psycho was first released
they implemented a rule that no one could come into the movie late, and I guess that was a thing
that happened a lot back then. People were just like I got a few minutes, let me go into this movie,
I don t care if it started. But they were having none of that with Psycho. Once the movie started the
doors were closed, no one was allowed in. In the previews they asked the audienceto not divulge
any of the secrets of the movie to their friends or family after they see it. And audiences obeyed,
they didn t go out and blabber about it like people do these days. You could not get away with
that today, but audiences were cool back then. Because they didn t let the audience in after the
movie started, they didn t allow critics to watch the movie ahead of time either. The critics had
to go with the audiences on opening day to see the movie. They were not happy about that
because they were being treated like peasants, like any other viewer. I guess they thought they
were better than everybody else, as some critics actually gave them bad reviews basically because
they didn t get a special screening. Even before audiences watched the movie, their psychological
needs start to be met as hype and suspense is built with the secrets people need to keep. The
suspense is kept up throughout the movie from Marion s get away and death, to the twist at the end.
The plot of this is we are introduced to

A Brief Note On The Khmer Rouge Regime
T By July 1992, the Khmer Rouge regime had taken a stance of non cooperation , thus causing
no PDK forces to be demobilized. Initially, the regime was on board for the disarmament process
and agreed to allow UN forces to mark minefields and enter UN vehicles and troops into the area.
However, once the process began and outside forces were to move in, the regime refused to
allow the Dutch and Pakistani forces into the area. The situation was made more stressful by the
PDK s refusal, as demobilization of the other two factions was at a lower rate than predicted,
weakening the mission s success. By 1993, the demobilization mission of the forces was stopped
all together, resulting in the FUNCINPEC and KPNLF forces to regroup and assemble... Show more

While the years between 1993 and 1998 lacked any implementation update of demobilization in the
peace agreement, it is evident that much of what was going on in the country was due to the halt in
the demobilization process.
Discrimination and mass murders of Vietnamese in Cambodia continued, and regional data on the
minority in the country illustrates the need for external actors to intervene. Hostage situations,
ethnic murders, large scale drug smuggling, and an immigration law that targeted Vietnamese in the
country are just some of the issues occurring in these 5 years. In June 1993 the Cambodia
Constitution was adopted and signed, which established Sihanouk as now King and outlined a
series of articles that aimed to address issues across the board. The articles protected free speech,
human rights of the Khmer citizens, sovereignty of the nation, and economic policy among many
other aspects. The anti Vietnamese discrimination was rising in Cambodia, often expressed through
hate speech or propaganda of people who blamed the Vietnamese for internal problems of the
country. Vietnamese made up about 5 percent of the population, and although attacks and killings
lasted for years in this interim period and was a huge issue, the constitution still seemed to lack
efficiency in addressing this issue. By 1998, the process of demobilization began once again, this
time with a more intense, calculated time table. Along with international financial

Brief History Of Time By Stephen Hawking
For the second semester book report I chose to read A Brief History of Time by Stephen
Hawking. Before I started reading I knew what I signed up for. A lot of math, science and
complicated stuff that sometimes makes my head hurt. Nonetheless A Brief History of Time is
about the history of science, history of how the universe began and how the journey of finding the
theory for everything has been going. He talks about some of the theories that may help with
finding the theory like the black hole theory, general relativity, quantum mechanics, imaginary time,
string theory and many more. He also mentions the belief that people have that god created the
universe, that God created everything.

A Greek astronomer named Ptolemy agreed with Aristotle theory and made a model that
provided a decent accurate system for predicting the places where heavenly bodies in the sky
were located. His model was accepted and adopted generally. But then a simpler model made by
a Polish priest, Nicholas Copernicus was suggested. His idea was that the sun was still at the
center and that the earth and the planets moved in circular orbits around the sun. Two
astronomers took this idea seriously Johannes Kepler and Galileo Galilei and they started publicly
supporting the Copernican theory. The death of the Aristotelian/Ptolemaic theory came in 1609
when Galileo started to look at the sky with a telescope. When he looked at Jupiter he saw that it
was by a lot of small satellites or moon that orbited around it. Johannes then changed Copernicus s
theory a bit by suggesting that the planets move in ellipses instead of circles. An explanation came
when Isaac Newton published his Philosophiae Naturalis Principia mathematica in 1687. In it he
provided a theory of how bodies move in space and time. He also made the complicated
mathematics needed to analyze those motions. Then questions were raised like whether the
universe had a beginning in time and whether it is limited in space.
Edwin Hubble in 1929 made an observation that the galaxies are moving rapidly away from us like
the universe is expanding. Then he thought that the universe was really close

Analysis Of Thomas F. Mathews The Mistake Of The Emperor...
The paper serves as a critical analysis of Thomas F. Mathews The Mistake of the Emperor
Mystique chapter in his book The Clash of Gods: A Reinterpretation of Early Christian Art. The
scope of the analysis extends only to the chapter, the works included in the chapter and some
supplemental sources by other art historians. It examines Mathews central argument and auxiliary
claims, paying attention to his use of sources. Additionally it probes the validity of his assertions,
drawing comparisons to other works or historians.

The book The Clash of Gods: A Reinterpretation of Early Christian Art reevaluates fundamental
pieces of Late Antiquity art, facing off with what author Thomas F. Mathews dubs the Emperor
Mystique, an inclination to link images of Christ in this period to imperial iconography. In the first
chapter, author Thomas Mathews makes a lofty claim: Late Antiquity art blanketed under the
Emperor Mystique must be reassessed since art historians have tawdrily abused the theory to
oversimplify Jesus iconographic identity. The author structures his chapter one argument into three
points. First, he criticizes the idea of an unbroken art narrative consisting of a gradual flow from
pagan art to Christian art, resulting in the Emperor Mystique mix of imagery as a key transition
point. Then, he considers the Emperor Mystique s prevalence in Late Antiquity. Finally, he moves
on to the art historians chiefly responsible for the theory Ernst Kantorowicz, Andreas

The Role Of An Aging Population In The United States
The United States population over 65 years of age is increasing as the baby boomers reach
retirement age. Greater life expectancy is a result of people living longer with better nutrition,
healthcare, and management of chronic diseases. In the primary care setting, where I work, we
have a large patient population of older adults. Caring for middle aged and elderly patients requires
greater time and intensity than caring for most younger patients. It is not unusual for an elderly
patient to have six or more chronic conditions and twelve or more prescription medications which
require coordination and monitoring. Updated HIPAA consents and HealthCare Proxy documents
are essential to providing seamless care. Since primary care involves repeated encounters with
patients over time, I am quite familiar with many of my patients and their families and, when

Open Carry Should Be Allowed In Schools
Watching the news every afternoon to see another victim assaulted, killed or abused with the use

hand. In colleges and universities individuals have used their gun power to brutally kill students.
Recently the State of Texas approved open carry in school grounds. Open carry should not be
permitted in Texas colleges and universities.
The dangers of having possession of a gun on campus can lead to a larger percentile of death

With students not personally knowing their classmates they are not familiarized with what they are
capable of doing with a gun in hand. Suicide is highly seen in college students, and allowing guns

What Are The Negative Effects Of Humans Destroying The Earth
Imagine living in a desolate wasteland. In place of the forests that were once shelter to hundreds
of animals is now a depressing factory. Out of the smokestacks on top of the factory comes a
thick black smoke, making the once clear, blue skies dark and dreary. Many animals that once
roamed the Earth are now extinct, and generations yet to come will never know a world where they
are alive. The actions of humans are gradually killing the Earthand if humans continue to harm the
Earth, it could become a wasteland. The actions of humans have caused numerous negative effects
on Earth, including climate change, environmental degradation, and deforestation. One negative
effect humans have had on Earth is climate change. Over the years, Earth s temperature has been
gradually increasing, and if it continues to rise the outcome could be fatal for every living organism
on Earth. Humans, animals, and plants are all at risk. There are many factors that cause climate
change one of which is the greenhouse effect. The greenhouse effect is the processes in which
radiation from Earth s atmospherewarms it s surface to a higher temperature than it would be
without the atmosphere. Humans have strengthened the greenhouse effect by the combustion of
fossil fuels. This is because the combustion of fuels causes an excess of carbon dioxideto linger into
the atmosphere. If the temperature rises too much habitats may become destroyed and unsafe for
life, resulting in species of animals becoming

cared for? These were the questions that if not dealt with appropriately would rapidly decrease the
effectiveness of the army.1
First of all, the most important part of logistics, the sustenance and hydration of the soldiers needs
to be considered. In short what were they going to eat and drink throughout the campaign? The
methods changed quite notably throughout the time period, this having some relationship to the
size of armies, although this will be covered at a later time. The first method of both feeding the
army and drawing the enemy from their fortifications was the chevauchee, essentially an armed
raid, typified by pillage, burning, rape and murder, essentially destroying everything in its path.
An example of this would be Edward III, who ravaged France, both surviving in enemy territory
and also compelling Phillip to fight in open combat. The chevauchee can be seen as an effective
form of feeding small armies, however any great army would have trouble acquiring the sheer
amount necessary for its survival.
Following the decline of the chevauchee and an increase in army

Saint Honor Cakes Essay
Staring out as a ring shaped brioche filled with pastry cream, the St. HonorГ© Cake has
transformed greatly since it was originally created. The very first St. HonorГ© Cake was invented
in the year 1846 by a man named Chiboust. Paying homage to both the saint and the name of the

tall, inedible piГЁces montГ©es to simpler creations that were more flavorful and could be eaten

The recipe might look difficult at first glacnce, but it is faily easy to make. It is just a matter of
assembeling all the components once they are baked and made.
You start off by making the choux pastry; mixing milk, water, salt, and butter. Then you add flour
and stir until it all comes together. Transfer to bowl and stir in eggs until completely they are
completely absorbed by the dough. Pipe the mixture onto a pan making small mounds that will bake
and become the cream puffs that will go on top of the base. Next make the cake base and cut into
a 24 cm circle, making sure to poke holes into the dough. Next outline the circle with choux
pastry and then make a smaller circle in the center. Once it has baked you make the pastry cream
that will go in the center. Prepare the crГЁme Chiboust then in a bowl whisk egg yolks, sugar,
and corn starch. When milk in the crГЁme is boiling pour it into the egg mixture in three
increments and boil. Allow the pastry cream to boil and then store in fridge. For the meringue start
the sugar syrup by placing sugar and water in saucepan on medium heat. At this time start
whipping eggs. When egg whites have soft peaks add the syrup slowly, continue whipping for a
minute or so and then add into pastry cream. Then all that is left is to assemble the different parts.
Fill the crГЁme puffs with the pastry cream. Then dip them in the caramel glaze and let them rest.

Does a King/Ruler have to be obeyed to avoid any anarchy or choas within the King s city? In the
play Antigone by Sophocles, Antigone s comes from a royal family. She becomes known as an
anarchist in the city when she decided to go against her uncle King Creon s law. When Antigone
buries, her brother, Polynices because of her religious beliefs, self morals, and self values. Creon
is then convinced that she has started anarchy in his city because she gave a proper burial to her

Antigone did her wrong doing in honoring her family, This death of mine is no importance; but
if I had left my brother lying in death unburied, I should have suffered. (Act 1. Scene 2. Lines 69
71), she shows King Creon that her brother s corpse meant more than her life and that if she didn
t do her action, she would be dying in guilt. She shows the King and the people of Thebes that
she valued family and that nothing was going to stop her, while also showing the King that the
citizens of Thebes have values of their own. Antigone knew the laws of the gods and knew the
new rule was wrong, It was not God s proclamation. That final justice that rules the world below
makes no such law. ( Act 1. Scene 2. Lines 58 59) She tells Creon that the Gods would not make
such a law as not to bury one s family member enemy or not. She states that Creon s law did not

Impact Of Globalization On The Chinese Economy
central Asia such as China. The expansion of these corporations promotes globalisation within the
domestic countries which, in turn promotes specialisation and induces comparative advantage. In
essence globalisation refers to the development of global relationships regarding not only economic
activity but culture and people too . It is promoted by the reduction of barriers to trade
internationally such as import quotas and tariffs put in place. History shows that the expansion of
multinational corporations promotes economic growth within the domestic economies due to the

Zhang portrays that the export levels in China rose as a result of the expansion of multinational
corporations. This suggests that as exports are a component of aggregate demand as exports rise
aggregate demand rises meaning China s economy is growing in theory. This is supported by
Sun (2002) by showing the macroeconomic impacts that FDI induces. He recognises that FDI
influences trade flow as he sees that China s total trade volume relative to GDP rose from 15.2
percent in 1980 to 26.8 percent in 1995. The more coastal you go the more influential the foreign
direct investment contribution becomes.. Sun concludes that FDI is a form of trade creating in
China. Chen (1999) ran cross sectional regressions on 29 provinces in different years and
confirmed that FDI does positively impact upon both promoting China s host province total trade
flows with the rest of the world and on increasing bilateral trade flows between China and its trade
partners. The journal raises the idea of FDI and technological advancement promoting economic
growth to be inconclusive. Naughton (1996) highlights a number of factors that limited the impact
of FDI on China s domestic economy. He states that the FDI was distributed provincially especially
in Guandong who prosper from investment coming in from Hong Kong. Secondly, up to 1991 most
of the output of FIEs was exported meaning that the foreign firms that were present gave no

The Accounting Treatment Of Leases
Introduction
According to Steve Collings (2010), the accounting treatment of leases has presented a lot of
problems over the years for the particular profession. Problems are observed in the way some
leases are being treated in a business income statement and statement of financial position.
Although, as we are going to expand more on that, the major problem of accounting for leases
according to Collings (2010), is the manipulation of financial statements by incorrectly
categorizing finance leases as operating leases . The main purpose of the essay is to discuss why
accounting for leases has been so controversial and whether the new standard (IFRS16) will give a
more meaningful picture of companies financial position for lessees. ... Show more content on

Accounting Treatment for lessees
Finance Leases
According to IAS 17.20, at the beginning of the lease term, lessees shall recognise finance leases
as assets and liabilities in their statements of financial position at a lower or equal amount to the
fair value of the leased property and the present value of the minimum lease payments, determined
at the start of the lease. The discount rate used in calculation of the present value of the minimum
lease payments is the interest rate implied in the lease, if only is it feasible to determine. If it is
not possible, the lessee s incremental borrowing rate could be used. Therefore, any initial direct
costs of the lessee are added to the amount recognised as an asset. Furthermore, as stated by IAS
17.25, finance lease payments should be allocated

I Stand Here Ironing, an Analysis Essay
I Stand Here Ironing by Tillie Olsen is a short story that talks about a handicapped child. Emily
had to struggle a whole lot on her short life, but at the end she proved to be a very strong child.
Tillie Olsen s characterization of Emily shows a strong female protagonist who overcomes
numerous odds: loneliness, humbleness, vulnerability, and her disability.
The story is based on a child named Emily that has a physical disability. Emily lived in a family of
five children. She always had a reason why we should stay home (Olsen 601). Emily is lonely.
When she was a toddler, she was left in a day care so Emily s mom could bring income to the

child, and in the outer world, other kids without values would point her out. Emily is always
insecure about what she says, or does in front of others. The insecurity of not being able to be her
own person is always on her mind.

The Crusades And The Cuban Missile Crisis
For, in the final analysis, our most basic common link is that we all inhabit this small planet. We
all breathe the same air. We all cherish our children s future. And we are all mortal ( Nuclear Test

lessening tensions between the United States and the Soviet Union, and signed the Limited
Nuclear Test Ban Treaty, which forbid nuclear weapon tests or other nuclear explosions under
water, in the atmosphere, or in irradiated outer space. It allowed underground nuclear tests as long

It began when the United States discovered that there were missiles in their neighboring country
Cuba. The missiles stationed in Cuba, belonged to the Soviet Union. Also, the United States placed
their missiles in the Soviet neighboring country of Turkey and in the southern part of the nearby
country of Italy. Kennedy and his advisers were planning to launch missiles into Soviet territory,
but at the last second, he called off his top advisers and canceled the nuclear attack on the Soviet
Union. The Cuban Missile Crisis is like the Crusades in early first millennia. Cuba would represent
Jerusalem, the parenthetical focus of the Crusades. The U.S. would represent the Christians, who
won the Crusades because the United States would eventually win the Cold War. The U.S.S.R.
would represent the Muslims, who lost the the Crusades because the Soviets lost the war in the
end. The Cuban Missile Crisis can be similar to the Crusades because both events started almost
the same way. The Crusades started when Muslims wanted to conquer land near Jerusalem, the
holy city that belong to the Christians, just like the Soviets and Cuba. The Christians were afraid
that the Muslims would take over the city of Jerusalem, just like the U.S. thought that the Soviets
were going to launch missiles into the United States. November 25, 2016, Fidel Castro, former

of lasting indefinitely (DePalma). The capacity of his identity remains inevitable, for better or

The Military Manipulated The Media During The First Gulf War
The aim of this investigation is to determine to what extent the US military manipulated the media
during the First Gulf War. Therefore my research question is to what extent was media coverage of
the First Gulf War manipulated by the United States government. In order to obtain an appropriate
analysis of this topic several different sources will be consulted throughout this investigation. Those
include, archived books, news reports, interviews, photos and websites. I will now analyse 2 of the
sources that I will use in the investigation For example the U.S Government exhibited great skill in
shaping media coverage during the Gulf War. It used several means to do so. Reporters were
restricted to the pool system meaning the government choose which reporters and news
organizations had access to battlefield coverage. The government escorted the media to sites of the
governments choosing and even then the media had to submit their reports to government
censorship. Most of the media spent most of the Gulf War in hotel rooms in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia
reporting on government press briefings, and rebroadcasting and rebroadcasting the Pentagon s
footage of perfect bombing runs and surgical air strikes. The media had no independent ability to
confirm or deny these rosy pictures and reports and no ability to track down stories the government
did not want shown, such as those about Iraqi casualties, civilians dead or injured, missed bombs,
or failing to strike Saddam Hussein.

How Technology Has Changed Business
The rise in technology over the last two decades has affected businesses tremendously. E business is
changing not only how we buy and sell but is transforming the way we do business altogether. In
the fast paced and competitive nature of the business marketplace, e business has allowed
companies to increase the value of their organization by improving their operations, not just
allowing customers to buy over the internet. In order to stay competitive, businesses must embrace
the culture change into new technology. This is one of the greatest challenges that business face
today. It is important to recognize how technology has influenced businesses, how new technologies
can be adopted, and what it means for consumers and organizations.
E business is the use of Internet technologies to link customers, suppliers, business partners, and
employees (Information Week, Dec 13, 1999). This can be in the form of e commerce websites that
offer sale transactions, customer service websites, intranets and enterprise portals, extranets and
supply chains, and lastly, IP electronic data interchange. The use of these different networks and
technologies all businesses to improve, enable, enhance, invent, or transform a business process.
Basically, technology helps build and manage relationships within a business to potentially
transform a firm into a networked entity with seamless supply chains and superior value creation
processes.
The adoption of innovative technology can be viewed from

Justice in The Republic by Plato Essay
Justice in The Republic by Plato
In Plato s The Republic, justice is depicted as a major part in a perfect society. Justice is said to
breed a good society, whereas injustice will breed a bad one. Plato defines justice in dialogue as
keeping what is properly one s own and doing one s own job. (Pg. 146) Under the rules set for
this perfect society, people are to practice the one profession at which they perform best. This
profession also corresponds to a certain social class. Under no circumstances can one change this
profession. Along with a set occupation, Plato has also determined that the perfect community
would regulate what children (and the community) are taught, and to what the children will be

Suppose a person is exposed to certain injustices that others commit. Plato feels that this exposure
will plant a sort of seed inside a person s head. Thus leading him or her to commit an injustice of
the same kind, or simply increasing the chance that a person will commit a similar act.
However, there is a huge hypocrisy (or disadvantage) within this theory. With Plato s definition of
justice, a person should keep what is his or her own. Some would say that person s history is also
their own. People have a right to know their history, and the truths about their community. Plato
wants to take away passages in stories, lines within songs, and make all characters in plays perfect.
This, in itself, is an injustice to a community. The stories, folklores, and fables of a community are
meant to teach. In American society, children learn not to tell lies from the Boy Who Cried Wolf.
The character in the story was not perfect and committed a bad act; however, children learn from
his mistake. In Plato s perfect society, he takes away what the community rightfully owns.
When adopting Plato s suggested way of life, one must be prepared to sacrifice his or her past
(neglecting his definition of justice). This crucial injustice is needed for the good of Plato s
suggested community. Similarly, in the book Ishmael, the author tells a story about post war
Germany. In this story is a scenario where the Nazi s had won and wiped out all other

doctors still cannot accurately predict who will make a suicide attempt in the future, so locking up

hospitalization may be necessary as they could have impaired judgment regarding their state. While
this is certainly true as one s ability to assess their own state of mind can be debilitated, there are
better alternatives to involuntary hospitalization which protect the mentally ill and others in

Difference Between Fate And Free Will
Fate and Free Will
Introduction
Why is the Tralfamadorian idea of time incompatible with free will? Free Will is a philosophical
term of art for a particular sort of capacity of rational agents to choose a course of action from
among various alternatives. In simple terms free will is what makes us able to make a decision, to
choose something you want over something you do not want. Since the Tralfamadorians are aliens
and have the ability to see the fourth dimension they can see things humans cannot see and have a
different understanding of the world, the universe and how everything in life works.
Does Billy Pilgrim exercise his own will at any point in the novel?
Billy Pilgrim comes across as a pretty simple guy, often other people make decisions for him but
as he grows older he takes things in his own hands more often. But does that mean he makes

believe what we want to believe, we can also believe that Free Will is always possible. Even if
some things are given and cannot be changed why should there not be multiple ways to get to the
same end? At the same time, why should we even need free will? Is it not better without it?
Everything is predetermined, that may be frightening to some people but then again, why should it
be? It only means that no matter what you do, no matter how bad a situation may seem it is not
even your fault and it will work out in the end,

Allusions Of The Serpent
The bible can be seen as a great piece of literature, one which many people will recognize if there
are references to it in modern day books, movies, and even music. One of the major topics for
allusions is the Serpent. Most commonly known for his role in the story of Adam and Eve the
serpent is sly, cunning, and deceivingly tricky. Authors allude to the Serpentif they want to
characterize a character as evil or devious. They may also use this allusion to advance a theme as
to not trust everyone you meet or temptation may be your downfall. They can use it to create other
moods such as suspenseful ones, or even sad ones if the reader knows that the fall of the character
is coming. All of these things are used in the examples in the next... Show more content on

Now the serpent was more crafty than any other beast of the field that the Lord God had made
(English Standard Version Bible, Gn. 3:1). In this quote, the reader can infer that the Serpent is
sly, devious, and cunning and should not be trusted. To see that the Serpent is tempting Eve the
bible says, He said to the woman, Did God actually say You shall not eat of any tree in the
garden ? . . . But the serpent said to the woman, You will not surely die. For God knows that when
you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil. (Gn. 3:2
6) This quote shows the actual tempting that the Serpent did to get Adam and Eve to eat the fruit.
In The Chronicles of Narnia #6: The Magician s Nephew by C.S. Lewis, Aslan, the lion, asks
Digory if he is ready to protect Narnia from the Witch. In order to do this Digory has to go collect
seeds to plant a certain tree. When he is collecting the fruit needed the Witch speaks to him.
You have plucked fruit in the garden yonder. You have it in your pocket now. And you are going to
carry it back, untasted, to the Lion; for him to eat, for him to use. You simpleton! Do you know
what that fruit is? I will tell you. It is the apple of youth, the apple of life. I know, for I have tasted
it; and I feel already such changes in myself that I know I shall never grow old or die. Eat it, Boy,
eat it; and you and I will both live forever and be king and queen of this whole world or of your

The Japanese Internment Movement
According to the Japanese internment background, after Pearl Harbor was bombed, Japanese
Americans were broken down into several categories based on how far the generation was
separated from Japanese citizenship. I disagree because the movement was wrong, they didn t
give any sort of education for the children for at least one or two years. There weren t enough
doctors or medicine to take care of the people s needs. Once the war was over many people were
released from the camp and did not have homes to return to because theirs were destroyed or taken
over by strangers. I disagree with the movement because they didn t give any sort of educationfor
the children until about 2 years later. What kind of treatment is that? Not giving

Women s Rights And Responsibilities
In order to exercise legal rights and responsibilities, one must be a legal person. However, the
legal person cannot be easily defined especially when one must consider the feminine gender.
Although it is a fact that women are people with the same legal rights and responsibilities as men,
several aspects of what is understood to be legal personhood conflicts with the unique
characteristics of the female gendersuch as pregnancy. This reflects the deeply seated tradition of
patriarchy within the law that is the largest concern of liberal feminists. It is not to be said that the
law has remained unchanged over the course of history but rather that it has changed in a way that
only includes women as men and not as women. This is mostly... Show more content on

In order to be considered a legal person, there are physical and conceptual requirements. The
physical requirement to be a legal person is to be born alive . In R v Poulton (1832) 5 C P 329 at
330, it is said that the fetus becomes a legal person when the whole body is brought into the world.
Conceptually, a legal person must be ...an enclosed, bounded and sovereign being... and a ...rational
person... who can ...exercise autonomy over his own person... In other words; they must be capable
of self government. It is difficult to define legal personhood narrowly due to its interpretation being
dependent on context and purpose but this is generally a universally accepted definition.
The issue of the role in women within leLiberal feminists believe that ...female subordination is
rooted in a set of customary and legal constraints that blocks women s entrance to and success in
the so called public world... and they work hard to emphasize the equality of men and women
through political and legal reform.
It cannot be denied that there has been significant progression of the recognition of women as legal
persons throughout the last century. Previous to the changes in the early 20th Century, women
were purposely excluded from the concept of a legal person due to assumptions of their feminine
disposition, which is often described as temperamental, and their publicly perceived lack of
capacity for

Philippine Christmas
Philippine Christmas
The Philippines is known as the Land of Fiestas, and at Christmas time, this is especially true.
Filipinos are proud to proclaim their Christmas celebration to be the longest and merriest in the
world. It begins formally on December 16 with attendance at the first of nine pre dawn or early
morning masses and continues on nonstop until the first Sunday of January, Feast of the Three
Kings, the official end of the season.
The Philippines is the only Asian country where Christians predominate. Majority of its people are
Roman Catholic. Christmas, therefore, is an extremely important and revered holiday for most
Filipinos. It is a time for family, for sharing, for giving, and a time for food, fun, and friendship. ...

Some families may choose to exchange gifts at this time; others wait until Christmas day.
In general, the center of a family s Christmas gathering is always the lola, the endearing term
used for a family matriarch or grandmother, who is deeply respected, highly revered, and always
present. Filipinos remember how their lola had their children form a line and step up to receive a
small gift of some coins. The older the child, the more coins he or she receives.
Some families have a talent show during Christmas Eve celebration. Children are asked to perform.
One might sing a Christmas song, others might play a musical instrument, or others may recite a
poem or do a dance. The celebration continues until about 6 o clock in the morning. Those who
cannot attend Mass the night before will go to the morning Mass on Christmas day.
Christmas day is a popular day for children to visit their uncles, aunts, godmothers, and
godfathers. At each home they are presented with a gift, usually candy, money, or a small toy.
Food and drinks are also offered at each stop. It is a day of family closeness, and everyone wishes
good cheer and glad tidings.
Philippines celebrate Christmas like no other in the Asian nation. It is the only country that its
people are Christian. We celebrate Christmas very religiously compare celebrating in America,
which is mostly about Santa Clause and giving gifts. My country

National Deficit and National Debt Essay
The growing national deficit is a looming problem in the United States now more than ever. The
national debt is constantly increasing and government spending is out of control. If these issues
are not solved then they could spell disaster for the nation s economy when the infamous debt
ceiling is finally reached. Currently the national policy on the debt is to continue raising the debt
limit until a solution is found that is agreeable between both parties in Congress. The two main
issues of over spending and the constant raising of the debts ceiling by Congress can both be
resolved by government spending reform, balancing the federal budget and initiating pro growth
policies in order to increase the government s tax revenue. The debt... Show more content on

The other issue that is facing the American government is overspending. Overspending is a
pertinent problem facing the lawmakers in Congress. In 2012 discretionary spending reached $1.3
trillion and mandatory spending $2 trillion, while only bringing in $2.5 trillion in revenue. Since
the turn of the century back in 2000, non mandatory spending by the government has topped out a
whopping $16.1 trillion just in the past 13 years (Boccia, Frasser Goff 2013). This persistent
overspending on programs and services that are not necessary to the functionality of the country is
what is causing the deficit to rise year after year. To remedy this issue the government must either
increase the revenue it brings in through taxes and trade or reduce the amount of money it spend or
perhaps even both. In 2012 thirty one cents of every dollar that Washington spent was borrowed
(Boccia, Frasser Goff 2013). Most of which went to large programs such as Social Security and
Medicare and if these large, growing programs, or just the budget in general, do not undergo
financial reform it could spell disaster for the economy and fiscal state of the nation. Government
spending in the United States needs to change and it needs to change soon. As mentioned earlier, in
2012 nearly a third of governments budget

Example Of La Primavera
Exploration Document
Ashley Morrison
HUM200
Cultural Artifacts
My first work is La Primavera written by the Italian composer Antonio Vivaldi in 1723. La
Primavera is one of four violin concertos, each capturing moods and illustrating stories related to a
specific time of year. Each section within this movement illustrate the most beautiful scenes of the
spring season, including birds, babbling brooks, and a thunderstorm. (Soomo, n.d). My second
work is an oil on canvas painting, titled The Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone by Thomas Moran.
The Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone was painted in 1872 and captures the unique geological
formations and diverse and extravagant colors of the Midwestern United States landscape.
(Cantrell, 2014). In an era before color photography, this painting depicts nature itself as a hero .
(Soomo, n.d)
Common Theme
The common theme shared by both chosen pieces of work is nature. Antonio Vivaldiembraces the
spring season and captures the moods and illustrates stories specific to that time of year. Thomas
Moran captured the true beauty of a Midwestern landscape of the United States. The colors,
terrain, and overall detail are realistic and allow the viewer to experience the extreme beauty of the
Midwest. Historians credit these inspiring images with showing the grandeur of the region and
persuading Congress and President Ulysses Grant to establish Yellowstone as the first national park
in 1872. (Cantrell, 2014).
Although both pieces share

Where Do I See Myself
The question is where do I see myself in five to ten years. The honest answer is I don t know
where I m going to be or what my career is going to be in the future. Right now I have no idea
what I want to do with my life. Hopefully, I will move out of my parents house, get married to
someone that I can see spending the rest of my life with and have a couple of children. I wantto be a
father so my kids can carry on the family name and most importantly to watch them grow up and
raise them like my parents have done for my brother and myself. I hope in ten years that I will
be at a steady and stable job that I enjoy going to every day and that I make enough money to
support my family and not be worrying about money issues. Also, I hope that I m done with school
and have achieved the highest degree in my career field and hopefully I have no student loans that I
needto payoff. Lastly, I see myself some place sunny and warm all year round with a house
overlooking the water.
Meanwhile, there are certain qualities that I have that I bring to a relationship. First of all I m a
good listener so I will listen to what my partner has to say and I won t ignore them when they
need advice or when they need to get something off their chest. I will be there when my partner
asks for help and will not make excuses for not being their for her. I m also a optimistic, which
means I see the good things in a person even though there actions or thoughts may be negative.
Lastly, I have two qualities

Texas Essay
The main objective of this paper is to compare and contrast the leaders, precisely senators, who
have lead in the State of Texas, United States. The Senators are believed to have made key
achievements during their career in politics. The paper will particularly focus on Senator Kay
Hutchison, Texas senator in the period 1993 through 2013, and Senator Ralph Yarborough, Texas
Senator 1957 to 1972. Subsequently, the paper undertakes to review the key policies the senators
made and the impact of these policies to the people of Texas.
In the education sector, Senator Kay and Senator Ralph played an influential role in supporting and
enacting policies to promote learning in Texas. Apart from the Bilingual Education Act that Ralph

These bills enacted show the milestone that Hutchison made in the improvement of learning in the
education sector.
In the health sector, Ralph Yarbrough co sponsored the Medicare Bill that brought about ease of
access to health services by old people. It made available insurance on the wellbeing of the
financially challenged and the senior citizens (Cox Patrick). Kay, on the other hand, enacted a
policy that mainly touched on women s health. Senator Hutchison, together with the senator of
Maryland wrote a policy that enabled women at home to have collateral for their old age just as
those that were in the white collar jobs. Notwithstanding the foregoing, Kay also secured money
amounting to more than seventy million dollars that could help finance the treatment of Texan
Veterans who suffered from the Gulf War Syndrome.
Whereas Senator Ralph Yarborough was an opponent of the Veteran War of the Texans, Kay
Hutchison was a protagonist of the rights of the veterans in the state. Senator Ralph is considered
to have been one of the best policymakers in the history of Texas. Having been a senator from the
South and a vocal opponent of the Vietnam War, Ralph is famously known as the only senator who
voted for the Civil Rights Act, (Silbey Joel). On the contrary, Kay championed for the upgrading of
education for the Texan Veterans. Senator Hutchison further advocated the healthcare policies for
the children of retired veterans. Further, she endeavored to keep the Texas Military

before he left.

Oxygen Consumption Lab Report
Conclusion Evaluation:
Conclusion:
As depicted in my Hypothesis, Oxygen consumption rises, such as the heart rate when the body
starts exercising. Through the 1.5 mile run I could prove that Oxygen consumption and Heart Rate
depend on each other. The cardiovascular and respiratory system cannot function without the other.
The heart working together allows metabolism to occur in all parts and systems throughout the
body. This is done as the lungs deliver oxygen and also removes wastes. Oxygen delivery can be
used as a measure of cardiac function and cardiac output. Oxygen consumption is limited to a
greater extent by oxygen delivery and not by oxygen extraction. This also shows the importance of
interaction between the cardiovascular and respiratory ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The increased heart rate allows for a faster oxygen delivery to the muscle tissues used when
jogging / running which eventually allows for an increase in oxygen consumption. Another point
proving my hypothesis is that if a person is suffering from a heart failure, they have problems
increasing their heart rate. Without the increase in heart rate, oxygen delivery and therefore oxygen
consumption is limited. An example that is relevant would be the Weber Classification System
which was used to monitor improvement in functional capacity from the beginning to the end of
cardiac rehabilitation. Weber showed that oxygen extraction increases to make up for the decrease
in oxygen delivery. By this research, Weber proved that the relationship between oxygen
consumption, oxygen delivery and therefore also the heart rate prove to be of great importance. In
the condition hypoxemia, the individual risks fainting due to a lack of oxygen transported to the
brain and all other organs. This usually happens when blood passes through the lungs to quick and
there is therefore only a little time for oxygen to leave the lungs and enter the blood stream. This is
another prove to my hypothesis that there must be a balance between cardiovascular and
respiratory systems to be able for

Contrasting Ideologies Of Rousseau And Diderot

Contrasting Ideologies of Rousseau and Diderot
As a student attending the Academy of Dijon in the 18th century, it is clear as to why our class
has been assigned the task of explaining the works of two of the most influential thinkers of the
time, Rousseau and Diderot. The two have collaborated on past works and do have some ideas
that pertain similarly to one another, although there are also ideas that seem to clash. In this essay,
I will look to examine the stances of the two individuals (who were friends living together in Paris
at one point) regarding the social origins of inequality and explain in what sense they share a
likeness, as well as the instances where the two disagree. First off, Rousseau believed that there are
two kinds of inequality among the human species; one, which he calls natural or physical, because
it is established by nature, and consists in a difference of age, health, bodily strength, and the
qualities of the mind or of the soul. And another, which may be called moral or political
inequality, because it depends on a kind of convention, and is established, or at least authorised by
the consent of men. The invention of property and the division of labor represent the beginning of
moral inequality. Property allows for the domination and exploitation of the poor by the rich.
Initially, however, relations between rich and poor are dangerous and unstable, leading to a

  • 2. Judaism s Views On Judaism JUDAISM First of all, before I begin with my research on Judaism, I did not consider that the Jews only believes in God. I thought that they accepted every word from the bible and that even though they have a Jewish calendar and different practices, that the bible that I use was quite similar with them with both Old Testament and New Testament. I knew that Judaismwas the one of the oldest religions in the world that still exists today and was recorded in the bible. I had no indication that tells me that they observed different traditions and there are different branches of Judaism. I also thought that Judaism was Christianity. Both believe in God, (monotheism) the only God almighty, the one who created the universe, and because both shared the Hebrew Scriptures. I also thought that all Jewish men have beard and lovely hair. I thought that males were black hat and black coat at all times on Shabbath Other things that I expect was that some of the holidays that Christianity celebrates, the Jews also celebrates it like Passover, palm Sundays, Easter. Since my religion is closed to the Judaism faith practices, I thought that they performs a foot washing ceremony before communion and that they gather on the Sabbath which is Saturday for worship. I also assumed that not all Jews, but certain Jews kept the kosher. I also thought that all men covered their heads and during worship or in the temple women were to cover their heads. What I found out is quite different then ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

First, there are many techniques about nonviolent resistance that are sit ins, which means the patience to harm, protest, that means to disagree about something and walk in the street in peaceful way, boycotts, which means to stop buy something from someone or company, marches, that means to walk with a group of people for a long way, or speeches, which means to talk in front the people. For example, black students wanted to sit in a lunch counter and tried to ordered food, but they were refused, so they left and came back the next day, but they were threated and they got national attention. • 4. The Nuclear Family Today the idea of the nuclear family being normal has changed. It is now common to see the mixture of two families connected by a second or subsequent marriage, with one or both partners having children from prior relationships, thereby creating half siblings. Prior to the advent of no fault divorce, most commonly the idea of blended families included a stepmother or stepfather and mother or father, and stepchildren, born to one of the parents in a previous marriage. The previous marriage had been terminated by abandonment or death and the stepparent was seen almost as a replacement parent. With the advent of no fault divorce and the familydynamics changing, the roles of the parents are modified, no longer is a stepparent a near replacement for an absent or deceased parent, but rather an addition to existing parents not part of a relationship but still on the scene. This can create turmoil in the family as the new couple as parent and stepparent and the children and stepchildren each try to find their own role. Some would argue it is better for the child or stepchild to be raised in a two parent home than a single parent family. This creates a positive environment for the child. Conversely, as the relationship lines are not clearly defined, there is the possibility of confusion and uncertainty for the child, as they are not certain of the role of the step parent versus the biological parent. There is also cause for concern, as the biological dynamic of the family is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Airborne Express Case Study 1 Executive summary Airborne Express is the third largest and fastest growing international air express delivery company in America. It held roughly 16% of the domestic express mail market by 1997. It provides time sensitive delivery of documents, letters, small packages, and freight in the United States and internationally. The company has several advantages over its rivals, such as it provides delivery services at a lower cost of up to 20% over FedEx and UPS; it operates the nation s only privately owned foreign trade zone in Wilmington; it is more flexible and provides more customer tailored services. It charges lower price but still much guarantee delivery dates (not offered by the US Postal Service). A general acceleration in the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Competition: the US domestic express mail market is somewhat in an oligopoly status. The competition among the big three is quite fierce. Yet normally FedEx and UPS lead the market. The six other second tier players do not have any threats to the three major players. The US Postal Service served much of the rest of the market. However, it has a limited popularity just among residential customers because it is inefficient in package tracking and has a much worse on time delivery record. It has a legal monopoly for first class letters. But the company is prohibited by law from offering volume discounts to customers. DHL and TNT focus on the international market and trans border shipments. DHL offer hard to reach service since it has hubs in many other different places in the world. It has never invested heavily in domestic market. TNT focuses its effort on Europe. BAX Global focuses on heavy cargo. RPS does not offer overnight delivery. It focused on two day delivery via a ground network. It is known for its efficient ground transportation and its sophisticated information technology. The traditional express industry is threatened by facsimile and electronic mails, which have zero cost. Competition between FedEx and UPS has caused a lower price and more innovations. Because of its diverse environment, Geneva is the most ideal place to open an international food restaurant such as Irish restaurant. Moreover, it is easier to operate an Irish restaurant in Geneva than other cities in Switzerland. Employees in the city are also used to working with people from distinct backgrounds. Another benefit is that people in Geneva tend to equally accept other national customs as the local s. It will be less difficult to promote international food in such city than those which are hardly exposed to multi cultures. In fact, more than 1,200 cuisines are from all over the world (Republic and State of Geneva: Department of Economy and Health, 2009). Not only does Geneva have high potential demand due to its high traffic, but also it consists of many groups of people whom the Restaurant can penetrate. The demand of the Restaurant can be categorized into two groups, the locals and the tourists. To clarify each group, the locals are people who reside in Switzerland and the tourists are those who travel from other countries. Among the locals are many Irish people. • 8. Prison Life In Prison Essay Opening his eyes, all Jerry sees surrounding him is damp darkness. There are no shadows or people he can see. No windows but an eerie breeze blows past him, sending chills running up his arms. He goes to grab his 3ftX3ft blanket that covers only a portion of his body. The only sense of time he can tell 10am. That is when one of the security guard brings a tray of slop for breakfast. That s only if you consider oatmeal drowned in 6 month old gravy food. With only feeling the sun on his skin for two hours every week, his body craves warmth. Jerry has been in this jail cell for seventeen years for murdering sixteen different people. Jerry pleaded guilty and was sentenced to life in prison. While some people side with the opinion of sentencing prisoners to jail for life, others side with the punishment of the death penalty. Sentencing prisoners to life in jail is a major sentence that destroys lives. The life of the prisoner and that family. Knowing deep inside that the prisoners mother or father or siblings will never be able to see them outside of that jail is truly heart breaking. However, they will always know where they are. Compared to the death penalty, many people believe that sentenced to life will show how serious the crime was and that it will not be tolerated. Being in that jail cell for 20+ years is torture and shows that that punishment is all you need to understand and repay your crime. The death penalty costs more, delivers less, and puts innocent lives at risk. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. Carl Rogers Chemical Dependency Counseling Model Introduction The role of a chemical dependency counselor can be a very challenging, yet extremely rewarding one. There are many skills and qualities that the successful counselor possesses. Carl Rogers was the first to spearhead the movement of person centered therapy and he has provided a very influential theory on how a person in treatment should be treated. He deemed these to be the most important elements in the therapeutic movement: unconditional positive regard helps makes change happen because they feel safe and cared about, accurate empathy it is an understanding of what they are going through, congruence be who you are, and lastly the desire to help (Watkins, 2016). These elements are the basic ingredient needed to embark on the journey of recovery with a client. This counseling model is intended to provide in depth detail of the counseling process and covers critical concepts that must be understood to effectively help the chemically dependent. The definition of addiction, the subsequent theories, prevalent disorders, and treatment processes are presented as a guide for counseling the chemically dependent. DSM V criteria for Substance Use Disorder In order to provide the best counseling possible to aid in the recovery of addiction it is necessary to fully understand the definition of substance abuse and dependence (aka addiction). • 10. The World s Worst Epidemic Of Obesity Essay Lose The Wheat Wheat is not the healthy whole grain it was pretending to be. Like a faithful spouse exposed as a philanderer and polygamist, wheat is not to be trusted. Held up as an icon of health, it is in reality a major contributor to the world s worst epidemic of obesity and an astounding list of health problems, from simple annoyances like dandruff to incapacitating conditions like dementia. These facts are a cataclysmic revelation for most people: they are unsettling, they are upsetting, and moreover they are downright inconvenient. The condemnation of wheat is as paradigm shifting, earth shattering, and life changing as the emergence of the Internet, the packaging of collateralized debt obligations and the collapse of mortgage markets, the upheavals of the Arab Spring ... events that shook core beliefs, upended comforting habits, and changed worldviews. Wheat is the Enron of the food world; worse it is the tobacco industry all over again both frauds, both intentional and both malevolently perpetrated against, and executed n an international scale. Charming and engaging on the outside, sociopathic and cataclysmic on the inside, it works its way into your life, wreaking havoc in every conceivable health destroying way. • 11. Hierarchy In The Lion King This image from the Lion King movie is an iconic image that includes all of the characters shown in the movie. The image displays all the characters in such a way that allows the viewer to see them all together in one place in which the background represents the setting of the movie. However, this image can be analyzed, and this results in many of the details showing the idea of hierarchy. The analyzation and representation of this idea takes a unique approach due to this movie being an animated movie rather than a normal movie. Despite this unique take on the idea of hierarchy, the idea is still easy to understand because of extra steps taken to ensure it is portrayed clearly. My image of the Lion Kingshows the viewer that animals and hierarchy can be artificially represented. It may not seem ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... According to Michela Balconi and Silvia Pagani Recent research found that . . . status hierarchy requires that individuals express and recognize social status signals, such as visual cues or vocal calls, which communicate rank and convey expectations about appropriate social behavior given a hierarchical social context (Balconi Pagani). Hierarchy may be an idea that can be noticed by external factors such as a person s looks, but this is not always the case. This is especially true in this Lion King image, since the characters do not wear clothes being that they are wild animals. As a result, this other way to show hierarchy is used. If a someone is higher up in the hierarchy, the result is usually that they are happier than other who are not as high up as they are. This causes the person that is higher up to feel happy, while the person who is not as high up does not feel happy, in fact, they may feel angry or like they want to get revenge, as shown by one of the hyenas in the ... • 12. Baumol Model Of Cash Management It was developed by William J. Baumol. The model helps determine a firm s optimum cash balance under certainty. It is used for cash management. The model helps firms determine the optimum cash balances that they can keep by considering costs. The costs involved are holding costs (opportunity costs) and the transactional costs. Transactional costs are the costs incurred when changing between marketable security and cash. Holding costs are costs incurred when keeping cash. Opportunity costs are the costs incurred when the firm chooses to keep cash instead of buying securities. It is also known as interest rate because it is the interest rate that are foregone by the firm by not investing in marketable securities. Just like all most model, the Baumol model works with assumptions. The first assumption is that the firm must be able to forecast its cash requirements and receive a specific flow of cash at regular intervals. Its cash flows must be certain. The other assumption is that the firm must be able to change to change the securities that it owns into cash keeping the variable and fixed costs of transactions the same. The firm must also be aware of it opportunity cost when holding cash. The opportunity cost should stay constant for a long period of time. The model works like this. A firm... • 13. Psychology Of The Movie Psycho The movie Psycho was directed by Alfred Hitchcock in 1960. When Psycho was first released they implemented a rule that no one could come into the movie late, and I guess that was a thing that happened a lot back then. People were just like I got a few minutes, let me go into this movie, I don t care if it started. But they were having none of that with Psycho. Once the movie started the doors were closed, no one was allowed in. In the previews they asked the audienceto not divulge any of the secrets of the movie to their friends or family after they see it. And audiences obeyed, they didn t go out and blabber about it like people do these days. You could not get away with that today, but audiences were cool back then. Because they didn t let the audience in after the movie started, they didn t allow critics to watch the movie ahead of time either. The critics had to go with the audiences on opening day to see the movie. They were not happy about that because they were being treated like peasants, like any other viewer. I guess they thought they were better than everybody else, as some critics actually gave them bad reviews basically because they didn t get a special screening. Even before audiences watched the movie, their psychological needs start to be met as hype and suspense is built with the secrets people need to keep. The suspense is kept up throughout the movie from Marion s get away and death, to the twist at the end. The plot of this is we are introduced to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 14. A Brief Note On The Khmer Rouge Regime T By July 1992, the Khmer Rouge regime had taken a stance of non cooperation , thus causing no PDK forces to be demobilized. Initially, the regime was on board for the disarmament process and agreed to allow UN forces to mark minefields and enter UN vehicles and troops into the area. However, once the process began and outside forces were to move in, the regime refused to allow the Dutch and Pakistani forces into the area. The situation was made more stressful by the PDK s refusal, as demobilization of the other two factions was at a lower rate than predicted, weakening the mission s success. While the years between 1993 and 1998 lacked any implementation update of demobilization in the peace agreement, it is evident that much of what was going on in the country was due to the halt in the demobilization process. Discrimination and mass murders of Vietnamese in Cambodia continued, and regional data on the minority in the country illustrates the need for external actors to intervene. Hostage situations, ethnic murders, large scale drug smuggling, and an immigration law that targeted Vietnamese in the country are just some of the issues occurring in these 5 years. In June 1993 the Cambodia Constitution was adopted and signed, which established Sihanouk as now King and outlined a series of articles that aimed to address issues across the board. The articles protected free speech, human rights of the Khmer citizens, sovereignty of the nation, and economic policy among many other aspects. The anti Vietnamese discrimination was rising in Cambodia, often expressed through hate speech or propaganda of people who blamed the Vietnamese for internal problems of the country. Vietnamese made up about 5 percent of the population, and although attacks and killings lasted for years in this interim period and was a huge issue, the constitution still seemed to lack efficiency in addressing this issue. By 1998, the process of demobilization began once again, this time with a more intense, calculated time table. Along with international financial ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

A Greek astronomer named Ptolemy agreed with Aristotle theory and made a model that provided a decent accurate system for predicting the places where heavenly bodies in the sky were located. His model was accepted and adopted generally. But then a simpler model made by a Polish priest, Nicholas Copernicus was suggested. His idea was that the sun was still at the center and that the earth and the planets moved in circular orbits around the sun. Two astronomers took this idea seriously Johannes Kepler and Galileo Galilei and they started publicly supporting the Copernican theory. The death of the Aristotelian/Ptolemaic theory came in 1609 when Galileo started to look at the sky with a telescope. When he looked at Jupiter he saw that it was by a lot of small satellites or moon that orbited around it. Johannes then changed Copernicus s theory a bit by suggesting that the planets move in ellipses instead of circles. An explanation came when Isaac Newton published his Philosophiae Naturalis Principia mathematica in 1687. In it he provided a theory of how bodies move in space and time. He also made the complicated mathematics needed to analyze those motions. Then questions were raised like whether the universe had a beginning in time and whether it is limited in space. Edwin Hubble in 1929 made an observation that the galaxies are moving rapidly away from us like the universe is expanding. Then he thought that the universe was really close ... • 17. Analysis Of Thomas F. Mathews The Mistake Of The Emperor... The paper serves as a critical analysis of Thomas F. Mathews The Mistake of the Emperor Mystique chapter in his book The Clash of Gods: A Reinterpretation of Early Christian Art. The scope of the analysis extends only to the chapter, the works included in the chapter and some supplemental sources by other art historians. It examines Mathews central argument and auxiliary claims, paying attention to his use of sources. Additionally it probes the validity of his assertions, drawing comparisons to other works or historians. ~~~~ The book The Clash of Gods: A Reinterpretation of Early Christian Art reevaluates fundamental pieces of Late Antiquity art, facing off with what author Thomas F. Mathews dubs the Emperor Mystique, an inclination to link images of Christ in this period to imperial iconography. In the first chapter, author Thomas Mathews makes a lofty claim: Late Antiquity art blanketed under the Emperor Mystique must be reassessed since art historians have tawdrily abused the theory to oversimplify Jesus iconographic identity. The author structures his chapter one argument into three points. First, he criticizes the idea of an unbroken art narrative consisting of a gradual flow from pagan art to Christian art, resulting in the Emperor Mystique mix of imagery as a key transition point. Then, he considers the Emperor Mystique s prevalence in Late Antiquity. Finally, he moves on to the art historians chiefly responsible for the theory Ernst Kantorowicz, Andreas ... In place of the forests that were once shelter to hundreds of animals is now a depressing factory. Out of the smokestacks on top of the factory comes a thick black smoke, making the once clear, blue skies dark and dreary. Many animals that once roamed the Earth are now extinct, and generations yet to come will never know a world where they are alive. The actions of humans are gradually killing the Earthand if humans continue to harm the Earth, it could become a wasteland. The actions of humans have caused numerous negative effects on Earth, including climate change, environmental degradation, and deforestation. One negative effect humans have had on Earth is climate change. Over the years, Earth s temperature has been gradually increasing, and if it continues to rise the outcome could be fatal for every living organism on Earth. Humans, animals, and plants are all at risk. There are many factors that cause climate change one of which is the greenhouse effect. The greenhouse effect is the processes in which radiation from Earth s atmospherewarms it s surface to a higher temperature than it would be without the atmosphere. Humans have strengthened the greenhouse effect by the combustion of fossil fuels. This is because the combustion of fuels causes an excess of carbon dioxideto linger into the atmosphere. These were the questions that if not dealt with appropriately would rapidly decrease the effectiveness of the army.1 First of all, the most important part of logistics, the sustenance and hydration of the soldiers needs to be considered. In short what were they going to eat and drink throughout the campaign? The methods changed quite notably throughout the time period, this having some relationship to the size of armies, although this will be covered at a later time. The first method of both feeding the army and drawing the enemy from their fortifications was the chevauchee, essentially an armed raid, typified by pillage, burning, rape and murder, essentially destroying everything in its path. An example of this would be Edward III, who ravaged France, both surviving in enemy territory and also compelling Phillip to fight in open combat. The chevauchee can be seen as an effective form of feeding small armies, however any great army would have trouble acquiring the sheer amount necessary for its survival. It is promoted by the reduction of barriers to trade internationally such as import quotas and tariffs put in place. Thus leading him or her to commit an injustice of the same kind, or simply increasing the chance that a person will commit a similar act. However, there is a huge hypocrisy (or disadvantage) within this theory. With Plato s definition of justice, a person should keep what is his or her own. Some would say that person s history is also their own. People have a right to know their history, and the truths about their community. Plato wants to take away passages in stories, lines within songs, and make all characters in plays perfect. This, in itself, is an injustice to a community. The stories, folklores, and fables of a community are meant to teach. In American society, children learn not to tell lies from the Boy Who Cried Wolf. The character in the story was not perfect and committed a bad act; however, children learn from his mistake. In Plato s perfect society, he takes away what the community rightfully owns. • 42. Allusions Of The Serpent The bible can be seen as a great piece of literature, one which many people will recognize if there are references to it in modern day books, movies, and even music. One of the major topics for allusions is the Serpent. Most commonly known for his role in the story of Adam and Eve the serpent is sly, cunning, and deceivingly tricky. Authors allude to the Serpentif they want to characterize a character as evil or devious. They may also use this allusion to advance a theme as to not trust everyone you meet or temptation may be your downfall. They can use it to create other moods such as suspenseful ones, or even sad ones if the reader knows that the fall of the character is coming. But the serpent said to the woman, You will not surely die. For God knows that when you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil. (Gn. 3:2 6) This quote shows the actual tempting that the Serpent did to get Adam and Eve to eat the fruit. In The Chronicles of Narnia #6: The Magician s Nephew by C.S. Lewis, Aslan, the lion, asks Digory if he is ready to protect Narnia from the Witch. In order to do this Digory has to go collect seeds to plant a certain tree. When he is collecting the fruit needed the Witch speaks to him. You have plucked fruit in the garden yonder. You have it in your pocket now. And you are going to carry it back, untasted, to the Lion; for him to eat, for him to use. You simpleton! Do you know what that fruit is? I will tell you. It is the apple of youth, the apple of life. • 44. Women s Rights And Responsibilities In order to exercise legal rights and responsibilities, one must be a legal person. However, the legal person cannot be easily defined especially when one must consider the feminine gender. Although it is a fact that women are people with the same legal rights and responsibilities as men, several aspects of what is understood to be legal personhood conflicts with the unique characteristics of the female gendersuch as pregnancy. This reflects the deeply seated tradition of patriarchy within the law that is the largest concern of liberal feminists. • 46. National Deficit and National Debt Essay The growing national deficit is a looming problem in the United States now more than ever. The national debt is constantly increasing and government spending is out of control. If these issues are not solved then they could spell disaster for the nation s economy when the infamous debt ceiling is finally reached. Currently the national policy on the debt is to continue raising the debt limit until a solution is found that is agreeable between both parties in Congress. The two main issues of over spending and the constant raising of the debts ceiling by Congress can both be resolved by government spending reform, balancing the federal budget and initiating pro growth policies in order to increase the government s tax revenue. The debt... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The other issue that is facing the American government is overspending. Overspending is a pertinent problem facing the lawmakers in Congress. In 2012 discretionary spending reached $1.3 trillion and mandatory spending $2 trillion, while only bringing in $2.5 trillion in revenue. Since the turn of the century back in 2000, non mandatory spending by the government has topped out a whopping $16.1 trillion just in the past 13 years (Boccia, Frasser Goff 2013). This persistent overspending on programs and services that are not necessary to the functionality of the country is what is causing the deficit to rise year after year. To remedy this issue the government must either increase the revenue it brings in through taxes and trade or reduce the amount of money it spend or perhaps even both. In 2012 thirty one cents of every dollar that Washington spent was borrowed (Boccia, Frasser Goff 2013). Most of which went to large programs such as Social Security and Medicare and if these large, growing programs, or just the budget in general, do not undergo financial reform it could spell disaster for the economy and fiscal state of the nation. • 53. Oxygen Consumption Lab Report Conclusion Evaluation: Conclusion: As depicted in my Hypothesis, Oxygen consumption rises, such as the heart rate when the body starts exercising. Through the 1.5 mile run I could prove that Oxygen consumption and Heart Rate depend on each other. The cardiovascular and respiratory system cannot function without the other. The heart working together allows metabolism to occur in all parts and systems throughout the body. This is done as the lungs deliver oxygen and also removes wastes. Oxygen delivery can be used as a measure of cardiac function and cardiac output. Oxygen consumption is limited to a greater extent by oxygen delivery and not by oxygen extraction. This also shows the importance of interaction between the cardiovascular and respiratory ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The increased heart rate allows for a faster oxygen delivery to the muscle tissues used when jogging / running which eventually allows for an increase in oxygen consumption. Another point proving my hypothesis is that if a person is suffering from a heart failure, they have problems increasing their heart rate. Without the increase in heart rate, oxygen delivery and therefore oxygen consumption is limited. An example that is relevant would be the Weber Classification System which was used to monitor improvement in functional capacity from the beginning to the end of cardiac rehabilitation. Weber showed that oxygen extraction increases to make up for the decrease in oxygen delivery. By this research, Weber proved that the relationship between oxygen consumption, oxygen delivery and therefore also the heart rate prove to be of great importance. In the condition hypoxemia, the individual risks fainting due to a lack of oxygen transported to the brain and all other organs. This usually happens when blood passes through the lungs to quick and there is therefore only a little time for oxygen to leave the lungs and enter the blood stream. • 54. Contrasting Ideologies Of Rousseau And Diderot Roy Forys Professor Holmes History and the Humanities II 28 April 2016 Contrasting Ideologies of Rousseau and Diderot As a student attending the Academy of Dijon in the 18th century, it is clear as to why our class has been assigned the task of explaining the works of two of the most influential thinkers of the time, Rousseau and Diderot. The two have collaborated on past works and do have some ideas that pertain similarly to one another, although there are also ideas that seem to clash. In this essay, I will look to examine the stances of the two individuals (who were friends living together in Paris at one point) regarding the social origins of inequality and explain in what sense they share a likeness, as well as the instances where the two disagree. First off, Rousseau believed that there are two kinds of inequality among the human species; one, which he calls natural or physical, because it is established by nature, and consists in a difference of age, health, bodily strength, and the qualities of the mind or of the soul. And another, which may be called moral or political inequality, because it depends on a kind of convention, and is established, or at least authorised by the consent of men. The invention of property and the division of labor represent the beginning of moral inequality. Property allows for the domination and exploitation of the poor by the rich. Initially, however, relations between rich and poor are dangerous and unstable, leading to a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
