Binoy Mascarenhas, Manager, Urban Transport, EMBARQ India, led the session in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, part of Workshop on Quantifying the Environmental, Social, and Economic Benefits from BRT Systems held on June 24 – 25, 2014. Ongoing Mass Awareness Campaigns to Educate Road Users
United Way Mumbai carried out a week long “Slow Down” campaign at the
toll plaza of the Bandra- Worli Sea Link bridge in collaboration with the
Mumbai Traffic Police (MTP), NSS - University of Mumbai and the Toll
Monitoring Unit of Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation
200 drivers pledged to follow speed limit
One to one interactions with 300+ drivers
20000+ drivers sensitised about speed cameras installed and evils of speeding

The campaign included –
- Poster making with the children from Don Bosco Shelter
- Presentation of road safety practices to the children from the Shelter
- Sensitization of motorists and individuals at the T-Junction in Matunga on the

line, by over 20 volunteers comprising corporate employees and United Way
Mumbai team members with help of Sr. Traffic Police Officers from Matunga
