topic was the participation of the trainees in the training classes with spontaneity and patience.
Name and address of the guests (If any): The inauguration of the training was done by Mr.
Monjurul Alam Siddiquee, Executive Engineer, Cox’s Bazaar district. Mr. Swapan Kumar Das,
Care-taker Engineer of Chittagong Division delivered his valuable speech after being present at
the inauguration ceremony afterwards. Besides, Mr. Ahmed Nazmul Husssain, Director, BRAC,
Mr. Shyamol Kumar Nath, Police Super of Cox’s Bazar district and Ahmed Shafi, C. Assistant
Engineer, LGED Cox’s Bazaar delivered their speeches and distributed the certificates after
being present at the closing day of training classes.
Statement of the Resource Person:
 If we can give preliminary treatment to the injured with more awareness and caution and
can take to the doctors, then a lot of lives can be saved. There can be nothing nobler than
saving the lives of human beings. - Dr. Sameer Kumar Das.
Statement of the Guests:
 LGED is not working only for the safe passage of people in the terminal areas. It is also
playing a big role in the socio-economic development directly or indirectly. If the road is
good, more vehicles will use it and accidents will also increase. This is the reality.
Human lives need to be saved by stopping road accidents. Local people should be made
aware about safely travelling in the roads. In this regard, the programme that has been
undertaken by LGED and BRAC will obviously be successful. Our support will be
continued. – Swapan Kumar Das, Care-taker Engineer, Chittagong Division.
 The more the communication system will be improved, the development of the country
will occur faster. For developing the communication system, we have constructed the
roads. Road users need to have knowledge about safely travelling in the roads. LGED and
BRAC are going to do this work through such a programme. We hope that we can reduce
the number of deaths in the roads. This training is befitting. Through this training, not
only the awareness of the concerned officials and trainees about road safety will increase,
they would also play an important role in making the local community aware about this
issue. I hope for the success of this training. Our overall support will be there in all the
activities of the programme.
 The local community needs to be inspired to ensure that all the stake-holders related to
road safety are engaged in their work. – Ahmed Nazmul Hussain.
 The earlier social awareness is spread about road safety, the earlier the problem can be
solved. Police Super, Cox’s Bazaar.
 There is no alternative to training. I am very hopeful about the efficiency with which the
trainees who have received the training will implement the programme. - Ahmed Shafee,
C. Assistant Engineer, Cox’s Bazaar.
 The road safety problem cannot be solved only by implementing laws. Awareness is
important at the very beginning. Society is the most important place of change. By
increasing social awareness, any kind of change can be brought. In Singapore, children
start their learning by singing songs about road safety. It must be remembered that after
increasing personal awareness, we can build up ourselves as ambassadors of road safety.
BRAC will provide overall assistance in this case. I am welcoming this initiative of
LGED and BRAC. - Police Super, Cox’s Bazaar.
 After making them aware, if all the work regarding road safety is done by the local
people, then it would be more durable. - Ahmed Nazmul Hussain, Director BRAC.
 Every year, almost 2200 crores taka is required for preserving the 1 lakh kilometer road
under LGED supervision. For this, the government only allocates 100 crores taka. LGED
alone cannot work on such a big loophole without the participation of the community.
 Research needs to be done on the prevention of misuse of roads and stealing and
destroying of roadside furniture with the participation of the local community which can
be done through this programme. - Ahmed Nazmul Hussain.
Statement and Recommendation of the Trainees:
 I knew about road accidents. I did not know so much. I had no idea about how
dangerous road accidents can be for a country. We can save the lives of the people
in our locality only by increasing education and awareness. Taking this oath. -
Nando Kumar Das, Assistant Teacher, Shamlapur High School.
 I have worked on inspiring the community on environment, human trafficking etc.
In all these works, importance has been given to prevent harm to the environment
and human beings. But the issue on which we will make the local community
aware and inspire them would save their lives, save their families. This is a noble
job. – Hossain Ahmed- President, ECA Multipurpose Co-operative Society,
Morisbunia, Teknaf.
 I came to know that in our country, mostly the pedestrians die because of the road
accidents. Majority of them die as they do not know the rules and regulations of
walking in the roads. Only a little awareness, a little education can save lives of
many people. At least, I will try to provide education to my students regarding
this topic. – Md. Nurul Islam, Assistant Teacher, Capasia Pilot High School.
 I have 2 buses. It travels along the route of Monohordi-Capasia-Dhaka as Shamrat
Parbahan. There are a lot of problems in this sector. There is a big deficiency of
good drivers. It would be very good if there is a system of training the drivers. I
think if there is a system of training through the programme, then the road
accidents will decrease. - Md. Monirul Haque, President, Badhon, Khirati Bazaar,
Capasia.
 There wouldn’t be any shortage of audience if the rules and regulations of
walking in the roads are shown through music and pictures with the help of
multimedia projector. Their learning will be through enjoyment and fun. A
system of locally downloading the road safety songs of Mamtaj and cartoon
pictures can also be made. I think we can create a response among the local
masses. - Sajjad Hossain, service rights worker.
 We have to work with the local community. By making the local community
aware and by inspiring them, we can prevent the misuse of roads. They need to be
understood that it is their road. It is their responsibility to take care of its good and
bad sides. The work done that will be done through this programme will make our
aim successful. - Doyal Bhattacharya, Community Organizer, Ukhiya, Cox’s
Bazaar.
List of names of Present Trainees: Attached
Certificate Distribution: After the training, certificates were distributed among the participants.
Certificate was distributed by Police Super, Cox’s Bazaar, C. Assistant Engineer, LGED Cox’s
Bazaar and Director, BRAC.
Conclusion: The spontaneous participation of almost all the trainees, their interest and patient
attitude was very noticeable. The behavior of the trainees was positive and co-operative. That’s
why during training, there were no problems. Based on the discussions on different issues
during the training, most of the trainees welcomed this initiative and expressed their optimism
about the success of it. The trainees felt very glad after sharing the thoughts of their free mind.
Besides, this type of training is very new to them and they gave an opinion that they learnt a lot
from the training. The training was successful and fruitful because of the spontaneous
participation, interest and enthusiasm.
