This document outlines a five-lesson plan to teach a sixth grade class how to write and present informative speeches. The objective is for students to learn how to choose topics, research, write drafts, develop theses, incorporate visual aids, and present three-minute speeches to an audience. Each of the five lessons focuses on a different step of the process, from identifying elements of sample speeches in Lesson 1 to presenting their finished speeches in Lesson 5. Resources to be used include computers, notecards, PowerPoint examples, and educational websites for research.
