The biosphere is the largest ecosystem, composed of the Earth and all living things that inhabit it. Producers generate their own food through photosynthesis, while consumers eat other organisms - primary consumers eat plants, secondary consumers eat primary consumers, and tertiary consumers eat secondary consumers. Decomposers break down remains of plants and animals, recycling nutrients and minerals back into the ecosystem.
