Unit 2,3 Task 3
Camerawork
 Establish shot: this shot is often used at the beginning of a film or sequence and is very
long short or wide shot showing where the action is taking place for example this
scene.
 Close up is shown in the first 48 seconds when the lady is finished drinking the cup.
 Mid shot: Shows the figure form approximately the waist to head. In a mid shot you can
easily recognise an individual but you can also see what they are doing with their
hands.
Editing
 Editing is a technique that is used when altering or changing certain
elements. Cutting scenes. Changing colour schemes . Adding computer
generated imagery (CGI) And adding visual effects
Editing
This type of Editing is called Parallel Editing
Parallel Editing is is the technique of alternating two or
more scenes that often happen simultaneously but in
different locations.
Here is Special Effects. This used highly
regular in films to make suspense and
the mood of the film scary and give
the audience a jump scare.
Mise-En-SCENE
Mise-en-scene is the setting/location which is highly common in this film. Here are the scenes from
the film that I found.
Props means anything that the subject holds or touches or something near the subject that adds to
the story and dimension of the picture. Here is the photo I picked out from the film which backs ups
with my point.
Lighting
 Lighting is very important aspect of mise-en-scène as it specific meanings and
feeling. Low key lighting is used commonly in horror films to show light and
darkness, good or evil to relate with the mood of the film.
Sound/Audio Codes
 Diegetic sound: Sound that seems to be part of what is going on the screen, sounds that seem natural to the scene, such
as the dialogue, sound of thunder, the ring of a telephone, the sound of a car engine. Connotation- can signal that an
action is about to happens . Adds realism and depth to the setting and characters. This is when the phones rings. We
know this is Diegetic sound because it adds realism and emotions to the characters part.
Non diegetic sound that we know is not part of what is on screen, such as music and voiceover . The music soundtrack,
sound effects sometimes especially composed, matches the visuals and conveys a mood.
