CAMERAWORK:
FRAMING OF
DIFFERENT
SHOTS-
When using the Point of view
shot. It makes you feel you're
in the shoes of the character
and feel emotionally attached
to the role of the character.
It uses Establishing Shot is
an wide shot of the scene
to show what action is
taking place.
As in the film e.g shot 1
the front view of her house
to set the scene.
also it uses low angle shots and high
angle shots . They use low angle
shots to show the characters are
vulnerable. And the high angle shots
to show someone being overpowered
for e.g shot 3.
It uses the close up shot so you
can see what mood they feel in
the scene. By the expression on
the characters you can identify
their facial expressions E.g. she
is happy , sad , excited …. In this
case the lady is afraid and she
looks as she panicked.
camerawork
The clip of the film,`Final Destination`. Gave a snippet of what
it's like to be in the shoes of the main character . Therefore by
looking into the Camerawork, Sound, Editing and Mise- On-
Scene. You can really get into depth of how it's all put together.
Editing sound Mise-on-scene
camerawork Editing sound Mise-on-scene
Editing:
The piecing together of
each shot:
gg
The place of cuts:
The place of cuts happens when the camera
is replaced by another camera... in a blink of
an eye ,as you can`t see where the scene cuts
from and from where the cut begins . This
happens regularly as the camera gets in
every angle of the scene , so it can capture
every moment . Like when you were in the
room with the women and the camera
explored every moment to capture it more,
so you can get a better understanding..
Parallel editing:
Is used when the scene is cross cutting. this
builds excitement and is more intriguing .
This is like more appealing to the human eye
… it's like a magnet ! This happened when
the women was about to leave the house and
the man looking at the out side view of the
house.
Cutaway shot
Is when a scene is interrupted by
an other scene . This takes place in
the video when you get a view of
the house and the setting . And the
part with the kettle is a special
effect used to bring the character
of the scene to life. Also makes it
more realistic.
Mise- en -scene:
The visual style of the scene :
gg
Setting/location:
This is wear the scene is placed
.Ie. in this occasion the film ‘final
Destination’. it's set in a house at
night . It's located in a quiet area
where it stood silent . Only you
could see some cars and lit up
homes and buildings the view
looked so picture rest.
Lighting:
Lighting is a contrast between light
being soft and dark heavy lighting .
This can determine the mood of
scene, as well as the mood of
individual characters. I.E the scene
in the film, ‘Final destination’ where
there is a spot light of light in one
area of the room and the rest is
dark,. Can tell the audience
something is over there as it stands
out . So it creates suspense
therefore, it draws you in. when the
camera shot … mid shot and close
up is used on someone's face where
the lighting is half dark…. half light,
it could suggest bad and good .As we
as an audience, when watching films
a specially horror, always can point
out what makes a character good
and bad.
Mise- en -scene:
The visual style of the
scene :
gg Costumes:
They wear costumes so you
can identify what role the
character is playing. This
could help you identify
who's ? who ? When it
comes to the film ‘final
Destination’, the women in
the house is wearing cosy,
relaxed, clothing . As it's
late at night suggest close
to bedtime, on the other
hand having a day at home
you would wear something
cosy as we do that in
reality. This makes the
scene more realistic.
Colour:
The
Film’final.destination
’. It Uses colour to
draw in attention and
also depending on
what the film is
about . They could
use curtain colours
to add more of an
effect.
Props/characters
The props used are
knives which have
blood covered on
them to create a
sense of glory and
morbidness. Also the
characters wear less
makeup . this make it
more realistic.
sound:
Different types of noises:
gg
Diegetic sound:
Dialogue:
Is a conversation between two or more people. This involves speech which are natural
and takes place in the scene. This is known as diegetic sound.
Synchronised sound:
This term is used when a movement matches a sound. This
is when a sound matches in sink. This shown in many ways
through film. For an .e.g when the kettle is being boiled the
boiling sound the same time.
Also the time the lady dropped her tea and she heard a
noise in the background.
Asynchronous sound:
Is when the sound does match the action but not
synchronised. The example of that is when the house blows
up then a few seconds later you can hear a BANG!!
Non diegetic sound:
Music:
The music in the film is to add sound effects
to make something sound more realistic.
This can also be mood changing. This
includes the time when, the woman gets
stabbed and they add music to make it seem
more OVER dramatic.
Narration:
Is what's told all through media as it's
shown …. On TV,novels, plays, films etc…
Narration is used to convinced the
audience that fiction is unbelievable and
fiction is real. By involving the characters
will help it be more persuasive to the
audience.
