This document contains two potential film ideas from a student. The first film is called "Lost" and is about a shy 13-14 year old boy who runs away from home to escape reality. It will have simple camera angles and be an adventure/thriller genre. There is potential for a prequel exploring why the boy runs away. The second film is called "On The Run" and focuses on mental health by telling the story of a boy experiencing a large chase scene all in his mind, leaving the audience unsure what is real at first. Both films aim to have just one main character to keep the message clear.
2. Lost – Away from reality.
• I chose to go with this title because it leaves the audience in the dark.
• The audience will be quite a range but mainly teens. B or C on the NRS scale.
• Camera angles will probably be kept simple and I’m going for adventure and thriller
as the genres.
• I don’t think there would be a second film but with the cliff hanger ending it could
be nice.
• Considering I don’t talk about why or when he runs away a prequel could be very
nice.
3. Characters
• I am only having one main character, there will be others but I thought the
film would be better in this scenario with the spotlight on one person. He is
quite a young boy but really just wants to escape reality so he runs away. He
is just like most boys around his age of 13/14 but is quite shy and sensitive.
4. Synopsis
• There is a lost boy who ran away from home at a young age due to him not
liking the environment.
• The main scene is a chase scene in act 3 and 4, this is the most suspenseful
part of the film.
• In the end, they find the boy and he is happily returned to his mother.
5. OnThe Run – It’s behind you.
• I’ve chosen this title and tagline because they’re short an snappy and leaves the
audience in suspense.
• Excluding young children, the target audience will be quite diverse. Around B or C
on the NRS scale.
• Considering the whole film is effectively a large chase scene, there is good
potential for good camera angles to be use.
• There is potential for this film in a market place such as in festivals because of the
link it has to mental health.
6. Characters
• I am focussing on keeping this film 1 character just to keep the message in
sight to the audience about his mental health and how it effects him.
• I think with more characters I would have to focus on the story more and I
am really just trying to get a message across with this.
7. Synopsis
• The film isn’t split up very definitively and focusses more on the boys
feelings.
• As the film goes on the audience becomes aware that all of this is only
happening in the boys mind but at the start the audience don’t know very
much.
