2. Did you use any explicit intertextual
references?
The extreme close up we used on Rhiannon’s characters eye is similar to
that used in Psycho, it creates an uncomfortable and means that the
audience has no choice but to look into the characters eyes, this to some
people and be very awkward and tense. This is not only an intertextual
reference but also a convention to the thriller genre as it makes the
atmosphere tense and uncomfortable.
3. How does the cliff hanger encourage your
audience to watch the rest of the film?
The cliff hanger encourages the audience to carry on watching the film as it
is a really interesting cliff hanger. This is due to the enigma of not knowing
what happens to Rhiannon and whether Kyra gets her revenge or whether
she spares her, this being later explained/shown in the film. By leaving the
ending ambiguous the audience are left on the edge of their seat and from
audience feedback I understood that they wanted to know what happened
to Rhiannon and what her back story was.
4. Which aspect of genre do you think your
audience will find most familiar, appealing or
even unexpected?
The audience would find the aspects of things such as the
cyberbullying throughout familiar however, the unexpected part
would be the vengeance that Kyra had towards the death of her
best friend. This meant that it would be more appealing to the
target audience due to its spontaneity and how different and
independent it would be within the typical thriller genre.
