The document outlines plans for a music festival called PULSE festival, including the logo design, artists to be featured, poster designs, and risk assessments. Posters will advertise on A3 paper and feature the festival date, location, and lineup of artists from genres like EDM, R&B, and pop. The budget estimates poster printing will cost £177 for 1,000 copies while billboard advertising will be £12,000 for promotion. The conclusion emphasizes how the poster planning will help meet deadlines and ensure a smooth festival.

June 3, 2024 Anti-Semitism Letter Sent to MIT President Kornbluth and MIT Cor...Levi Shapiro
Letter from the Congress of the United States regarding Anti-Semitism sent June 3rd to MIT President Sally Kornbluth, MIT Corp Chair, Mark Gorenberg
Dear Dr. Kornbluth and Mr. Gorenberg,
The US House of Representatives is deeply concerned by ongoing and pervasive acts of antisemitic
harassment and intimidation at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Failing to act decisively to ensure a safe learning environment for all students would be a grave dereliction of your responsibilities as President of MIT and Chair of the MIT Corporation.
This Congress will not stand idly by and allow an environment hostile to Jewish students to persist. The House believes that your institution is in violation of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, and the inability or
unwillingness to rectify this violation through action requires accountability.
Postsecondary education is a unique opportunity for students to learn and have their ideas and beliefs challenged. However, universities receiving hundreds of millions of federal funds annually have denied
students that opportunity and have been hijacked to become venues for the promotion of terrorism, antisemitic harassment and intimidation, unlawful encampments, and in some cases, assaults and riots.
The House of Representatives will not countenance the use of federal funds to indoctrinate students into hateful, antisemitic, anti-American supporters of terrorism. Investigations into campus antisemitism by the Committee on Education and the Workforce and the Committee on Ways and Means have been expanded into a Congress-wide probe across all relevant jurisdictions to address this national crisis. The undersigned Committees will conduct oversight into the use of federal funds at MIT and its learning environment under authorities granted to each Committee.
• The Committee on Education and the Workforce has been investigating your institution since December 7, 2023. The Committee has broad jurisdiction over postsecondary education, including its compliance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, campus safety concerns over disruptions to the learning environment, and the awarding of federal student aid under the Higher Education Act.
• The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is investigating the sources of funding and other support flowing to groups espousing pro-Hamas propaganda and engaged in antisemitic harassment and intimidation of students. The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is the principal oversight committee of the US House of Representatives and has broad authority to investigate “any matter” at “any time” under House Rule X.
• The Committee on Ways and Means has been investigating several universities since November 15, 2023, when the Committee held a hearing entitled From Ivory Towers to Dark Corners: Investigating the Nexus Between Antisemitism, Tax-Exempt Universities, and Terror Financing. The Committee followed the hearing with letters to those institutions on January 10, 202
Embracing GenAI - A Strategic ImperativePeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.

2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.

3. Proposal
• The title of my festival will be ‘PULSE festival’ due to the
festival being sponsored by PULSE magazine. The format I will
be advertising my festival posters will be on a A3 piece of
paper. This will be big enough and hopefully cheaper then
using other formats due to it being bold and eye catching if it
were to be posted around local towns. The content in the
poster will be the list of artists in the festival overt the 3 day
period as well as it containing the date as well as where the
festival will be located. My target audience for the festival will
be people who are aged around 16-25 due to it mainly
featuring music that has been featured around the time they
were listening to music.
4. Logo design and house colour
This is what my festival logo will look like on posters that will be advertised
around local towns as well as the festival itself. The reason I have chosen this
design is because it contains the logo of the magazine that is sponsoring the
festival as well as the other font creating what the flow of a festival is like
which in turn will help to bring in more people to the festival. The house
colour is mainly black and white with the main background colour being an
actual image instead of a simple colour. This is to help get the viewers more
interested in the advertisement and hopefully to get them to go to the
festival itself.
5. Poster/advert information
Artists that will be featured at the festival.
• DJ stage-Main stage :
Alan Walker, Marshmellow, Calvin Harris, Skrillex, Zedd, David Guetta, Slushii,
Hardwell
R&B stage:
• The weekend, Rhianna, Chris Brown, Arianna Grande, tiny Tempah, Khalid, Ed
Sheeran, Gucci Mane, Pink, Demi Lovato, Charlie Puth, The Weekend, Niall
Horan, Post Malione, Taylor Swift, Travis Scott, Kesha, Chris Brown, Kanye
West, Sia, Nicki Minaj, G-Eazy
These will be the few artists that would be featured at the festival and the reason
I have included R&B artists is because they are very popular with the public and it
will hopefully draw in a bigger crowd.
8. Hand drawn drafts
Here are my hand drawn drafts for my poster print based advertisement and as you can
see from the annotations on it my background of the poster will be the main image. This
will hopefully make it eye-catching to the audience and get them to come to the festival. I
spaced out the boxes for the writing as I didn't’t want to make it overcrowded with
information and plus it makes it look more appealing as it is a quick read for who will be
there at the festival.

These are my Photoshop layouts and I like how they’re laid out on here then on the drafts as it is much
clearer and you can see how even though it is simple it will be effective in brining people in to read it.
10. Risk assessment
• Permission- I will need to get the permission of both the
artist as well as the model of the photo to be able to use
the image in my magazine that they have taken so that if
I do use it, I will not be prosecuted for copy right use and
plagiarism. In order to be able to use the images I had to
sign a document saying that the images will only be used
for the magazine and nothing else otherwise I can be
prosecuted for inappropriate use.
• Area assessment- when scouting the location for the
background of the images I will need to take in an
account whether or not it is a safe place to take photos
at. This is because if the model is injured during the
photo-shoot I can be sued for compensation to the
model and potentially loose a lot of money in the
process. That is why it is very important to find a place
where it is safe to take place and not have a chance of
there being a risk of injury. The pace where the photos
were taken was a safe place with no dangerous objects
being around allowing a successfully photo-shoot to take
place
11. Software risk assessment
Resizing an image- when resizing an image hold
down shift and it will allow the image to not
pixelate which can cause the image to look
unprofessional. If you do not do this it can
affect the quality of the image and will have to
repeat the process of resizing your own image.
Eye dropper tool – this will allow you to keep a
consistent colour throughout the magazine and
will allow you to not get a different shade of the
same colour which when printed out can affect
the whole magazine entirely.
Colour swatches- by using colour swatches you
will be able to find the colour you are using
most often very quickly which will help reduce
the chance of getting a different shade of the
colour.
14. Production plan continued
Equipment cost
Office space £1,500 (per 2 months)
Apple MacBook (x9) £11,691
Adobe CS6 master collection £6433.54
Desks (x9) £855
Chairs(x9) £405
printer £40
Camera £549
Pens (x 10) £10
paper £6.99
On the table on the left, these are the basic necessities in starting a magazine
company that are for 9 people. Even though it may be very expensive they are needed
to for the magazine to be successful and to pull in more buyers.
15. Budget of advertisement
The cost of advertisement for the festival will cost a lot
to make. For the A3 posters it will cost me £177 for
1000. This is fairly cheap compared to how much a
billboard poster will cost to have up for 3 months. For
one billboard it will cost £2,400 for 3 months however, I
will be needing about 4 or 5 billboards therefore it is
going to cost me £12,000. in total advertisement is
going to cost me £12,177 for print based alone. This will
require me to have a huge turnout for the festival in
order to make a profit from the festival.

16. Campaign message
• My advertising campaign is aimed at those who are in their teens
and consider themselves to be outgoing and energetic. This is
due to the fact that the music that will be played at the festival
will consist mainly of electric as well as pop which was typically
played at around the 2010’s where most teens would have
started to get more interested in music. The message I am trying
to get across to the audience about the festival is make them
come and see it through making the poster very eye catching
through the use of bright colours. The choice of media in which
my campaign message is broadcasted on is both through printed
posters and online. This is due to the fact that almost everyone is
online now and would have social media accounts and if they are
wanting to get as many people to attend the festival as possible,
I'm going to have to update to mainly broadcasting on social
media instead of relying on just print based advertisements.
17. Conclusion
• This learning outcome focuses on the creation
of the festival poster and how much it will cost
and how long it will take. This is useful as this
will help me stay on task and meet deadlines
so that the festival will run smoothly and will
have no setbacks that could potentially delay
the festival. It also contains the drafts of the
poster which will help in creating the final
version of the poster and to also stick to that
layout.
