* Cách dùng mạo từ xác định “the”
• Dùng “the” trước một danh từ đã được xác định cụ thể mà cả người nói và ng nghe
biết rõ ( Danh từ này thường được nhắc đến lần thứ 2 trở đi, hoặc danh từ theo sau
bởi 1 cụm từ hoặc 1 mệnh đề): The girl in black…..
• Tên sông,biển,đại dương,dãy núi,sa mạc,quần đảo: The Nile river
• Khu vực địa lý, tên quốc gia có từ kingdom,states,có dạng số nhiều: The
Netherlands
• Trước danh từ chỉ các tổ chức,khách sạn,viện bảo tàng,tòa nhà quan trọng,tờ
báo,phương tiện truyền thông,hệ thống giao thông,nhạc cụ: The WHO, the guitar
• Danh từ là thứ duy nhất,so sánh hơn nhất, thứ tự : The sun; the biggest city, the
first/last/…
• Trước tính từ để tạo thành danh từ chỉ chung 1 nhóm người: The poor

*Mạo từ không xác định A/An
• Dùng “a” hoặc “an” trước một danh từ số ít đếm được. Chúng
có nghĩa là một. Chúng được dùng trong câu có tính khái quát
hoặc đề cập đến một chủ thể chưa được đề cập từ trước.
• An thay cho A:
"an" được dùng trước các từ bắt đầu bằng nguyên âm (trong cách
phát âm, chứ không phải trong cách viết). Bao gồm: “u,e,o,a,i”. Ví
dụ: an apple (một quả táo), an orange (một quả cam).
• Miêu tả công việc, nghề nghiệp, sự nhân dạng chứng minh.
• Miêu tả sự sở hữu: a friend of mine
• Đứng trước danh từ chỉ bệnh tật ngoại trừ (flu and measles): a
