/augustine of hippo.html Augustine vs Pelagius
Pelagius argued that all men have the chance to live a perfect life(sinless) even after the fall of
Adam. He also took issue with Augustine saying that men need the grace of God to obey his
commands. He said that if God commands someone to do something then they have the ability by
themselves to obey that command. http://www.ligonier.org/learn/articles/pelagian controversy

Augustine did not agree with that. Also in reaction against the Donatists, Augustine developed a
distinction between the regularity and validity of the sacraments. Regular sacraments are performed
by clergy of the Catholic Church, while sacraments performed by schismatics are considered
irregular. Nevertheless, the validity of the sacraments do not depend upon the holiness of the priests
who perform them (ex opere operato); therefore, irregular sacraments are still accepted as valid
provided they are done in the name of Christ and in the manner prescribed by the Church. On this
point Augustine departs from the earlier teaching of Cyprian, who taught that converts from
schismatic movements must be re baptised.[95] Augustine taught that sacraments administered
outside the Catholic Church, though true sacraments, avail nothing. However, he also stated that
baptism, while it does not confer any grace when done outside the Church, does confer grace as
soon as one is received into the Catholic

The Five K Of Sikh Symbolism
The Sikh people do not practice many examples of outward, external worship i especially those
that may be troubling. They do practice one outward tradition, though, the wearing of the Five K s.
The symbolism behind the five K s remains the focus of their practice. This tradition remains
acceptable because it points the Sikhpeople to their worship, and reinforces the ethics of their
religion. The five K s are consistent reminders of God and their devotion to Him. These five
symbols include the Kesh, Kangha, Kara, Kachera and Kirpan. The five K s is a tradition that
dates back centuries and remain an important part of the Sikh tradition. The pieces help the
people reflect on their religion, and focus on righteous living. They view wearing the five K s as
a practice necessary for achieving union with God and displaying their devotion. Sikh people do
not have to wear all 5 of the K s. Some may wear all of them, and some may only wear one. Many
will try to wear as many as possible, although the practicality of the five K s has varied over time.
The Kesh is uncut, or natural hair that is not styled. The Kesh is a style for both men and
women. Usually, a turban or another fabric cloth that covers a topknot guards the hair. Sikh
people recognize their creation by God, and aim to remain as natural as they were made. They
believe one should not interfere with their God given form. This supports their belief that
everyone is a creation of God, and acknowledges his creations should remain. The Kangha is a
small comb that is worn to keep the hair neat. It is more of a practical piece rather than symbolic.
The Kangha is mostly a tool that allows the Sikh people to wear their hair naturally and
acknowledge their natural appearance and being. The Kara is an iron or steel bracelet that is
worn by the Sikh people. It is worn always on the right wrist. The Kara represents both community
and unity. The sense of community the Kara brings, is that of the Sikh people. When wearing the
Kara, the people believe they are all unified as a singular community. It is an important aspect of
the religion to serve each other and remain a unified body. The Kara represents a constant contact
and unity with God, and a tool of

Imagery In Sports
Sport or exercise psychologists use imagery as a method to train athlete s skills such as visual
perception skill, attention and regulating emotions (Smeeton, Hibbert, Stevenson, Cumming

the movements or performing the actual movement, similar brain activities was showed and with
this finding, sport psychologists can use imagery to train athletes as essentially there is no
difference between imagery training and physical training according to previous studies (Homles

motor imagery ability and used tennis as a sport for this study and added a condition where
participants have a placebo racket during their training session. The result suggested that
participants who are in the placebo condition not only have a better result compared to participants

Mussolini s Economic Policy And The Success Of Benito...
Benito Mussolini seized power in 1922 when he was appointed Prime Minister, following his
infamous March on Rome. Mussolini initially expressed little to no interest in economic matters
once in office and had no coherent economic plan for Italy. Furthermore, as a former socialist, he
disliked capitalism and the free market. However, post 1922, he came to the realization that he
needed a strong economic plan to retain his office as well as to re establish Italy as a major
power. Mussolini, like many other dictators, was not an economist and so none of his policies
were without their downfalls. It can be argued that his most successful policy was the Battle for the
Grain. The aim of this policy was to create national self sufficiency in grain by encouraging farmers
to use more modern machinery and farming... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Other semi successes included the Battle for the Land and the Lira. On the other hand, there were
many policies that did more harm than good. Such as the Corporate State, much of the handling
of the economy in the Great Depression and autarky as whole. Ultimately, Mussolini s economic
policies in the most part were not a success. Firstly, the Battle for the Grain was aimed to create
self sufficiency in grain so that when war came Italy would not be dependent on foreign imports of
cereals and bread. This was achieved by encouraging farmers to grow grain by providing

Song To The Siren Allusion
The allusion of the Sirens in each of the song lyrics given creates a mood revolving around
hopelessness. In both songs, the allusion reinforces the fact that the speaker wants something that
they cannot have, similar to the sailors and the Sirens. In Carolina, Eric Church sings, I d love to
see my mama/ Maybe go for a drive/ But I gotta play the star in some little town again tonight
(Church). This signifies the fact that the artist wants to go back to his hometown, but cannot,
because his occupation prevents him. In Song to the Siren, Tim Buckley cries out, ...let me enfold
you/ Here I am, here I am, waiting to hold you (Buckley). This lyric illustrates how the speaker
longs to love and be loved by the woman, yet something is stopping

How Ecology Is Being Affected by Climate Change
In the world today their has been a surge of scientific, political and economical forces hurdling to
prove and disprove the existence of global climate change. I assert that the symptoms that our
planet is suffering are the truest indications to justify worrying about our collective future on this
land; which I will present in terms of how the ecology is being effected by global climate change. In
an article reporting the findings of a study conducted in Israel by Tarryn Schuldiner Harpaz and
Moshe Coll entitled Effects of Global Warmingon Predatory Bugs Supported by Data Across
Geographic and Seasonal Climatic Gradients the authors state, [The] average global surface
temperature... has risen by approximately 0.75 [degrees Celsius] during the past 100 years (1906
2005)... average temperatures rose by approximately 0.13 [degrees Celsius] per decade... And
indicated that the majority of the change had occurred between 1956 through 2005 (Schuldiner
Harpaz and Coll). The study measured the effects of climatechange on various species of insects in
the area of and surrounding Israel. After collecting records of the climate gradients, annual
temperature records, insect species samples of the region and comparing it to samples of current
species morphology (the study of an organisms structure and form) how continuous change in
climate effects said insects, and multiple region s annual temperatures records, they found that

Assess The Difference Between Direct And Representative...
A direct democracy or pure democracy is a form of government wherein the citizens have a direct
say.
In a representative democracy is a form of government wherein it s citizens vote for or elect
someone to represent them.
People who are born in the direct or pure democracy have a direct say in laws, choices, and issues
that affect them or they have a problem with.
People born in a representative democracy can only vote for the people that wanted to be a
representative for their city state.
They did both have the chance to vote for who they wanted, because they might not have liked the

Number The Stars Book Summary
в… . The Basics
A. The title of my book is Number The Stars the book is by Lois Lowry
B. My book was published in 1989
в…Ў. Setting [time and place]
A. The story takes place in 1943 in Germany. The period time is authentic because that is when
Denmark surrendered to Germany in the war. The place is real because germany started the war
and then denmark surrendered to them.
B. Some details that describe the historical period is that they travel around on horses or horse
drawn carriages. They lived in apartments that are not as modern as today. In the book one day
they had cream for there oatmeal and butter for their bread, but when the war came around
everything got lost and they started to have very low food supply. Their living style ... Show more

I think the central conflict is real because in the 1940s the natis were sending families away and
most of the parents had to leave their kid with another family because the war was going on.
Also it in that time there was a lot of Soldiers at every corner of the block so it was unsafe for
children to walk home or be home by themselves.
V.
A. I think the author s purpose of writing this blog was because she wanted to tell the reader what
life was like in the 1940s in Germany and how hard it was to live because of the Nazis.
I think the author chose to write about this particular historical because a lot was going on during
the 1940s like the war and the Nazi trying to get rid of the Jews. I also think the author chose to
write about this historical period because She was interested about how she had to live through the
war and through having to take random kids in that they didn t know anything about.
B. I think the theme or Central message is courage but also fear because you need to have
courage to face all the things that would come your way. The theme is also fear because even
though you have to have the courage to get through all those hard times but also you have to have
fear because if you don t have fear then you would not be able to have the courage to do those

Analysing the Financial Performance of Domestic Dog Homes
In this part of my report, I will explain in depth how these ratios are used to monitor the financial
state of Domestic Dogs Homes. I will also assess the company s performance generally.
Part 3: Analysing the financial performance of Domestic Dog Homes
Profitability ratios
Gross Profit Margin:
This ratio is used to assess a company s financial performance by revealing the money left over
from the revenues. Gross Profit Margin also serves as the source for paying additional expenses
and future savings.
According to Domestic Dog Homes profit and loss account, it has obtained a reasonably high
percentage of gross profit which means that the company is doing well and will be able to control

Thus, this ratio helps a business to get rid of bad debts. According to the balance sheet of Domestic
Dog Homes, the debtors have 9 days to pay back to the company which is good as the business
would be able ton get its money back quicker and make the necessary changes to get rid of bad
debts.
Conclusion: Overall it seems that Domestic Dog Homes is financially in an unstable state as it is
either performing reasonably well in order to survive or it is not doing so well is particular areas,
e.g. current ratio and asset turnover.
Part 4: the advantages and limitations of using Ratios
There are several advantages and disadvantages of using ratios to assess and monitor the
financial state of Domestic Dog Homes and they are: The ratios forecast the future: They
indicate whether Domestic Dog Homes will be able to pay its debts and whether it will be able
to survive. For instance the current ratio gives the company an insight of whether it will have
enough money to pay back its debts and whether it will have to gain more money in order to
cover the costs of its expenses as well as its debts. However the disadvantage of this is that these
ratios focuses on specific areas of the company s financial state and does not look at the overall
performance hence it is the duty of Domestic Dog Homes to check whether it is progressing
overall. Strengths and weaknesses: The ratios also point out the strengths and weaknesses of a

Research Paper On Paschal Mystery
The Paschal Mystery is Jesus accomplishment of redeeming all of humanity through his life,
Passion, death, Resurrection, and Ascension. It will bring the ancient covenant to is full and
complete fulfillment. Being saved from sin is what salvation is about. God gave us that chance
by sending down his only son down to Earth to die for us and give us a chance to enter heaven.
We can t achieve salvation alone, we need Gods love and mercy. To begin with, Jesuslife had to do
with the incarnation, God becoming flesh. It also had to do with his baptism, he was baptise by
John the Baptist in the Jordan river. Through his baptism he sets an example that people can be

The Last Supper is his meal before he is crucified. While he was in the Garden of Gethsemane,
Jesus prays to his father to give him the strength to go through with his will. While there Jesus is
betrayed by Judas and is arrested. Judas betrays Jesus for a sack of coins, he feels bad after and
he hangs himself. This connects to the time that Adam and Eve were in the garden of Eden.
Jesus being the new Adam who disobeyed God does not disobey God when Judas Eve is tempted
by Satan. Jesus is stripped of his garments and crucified on the mountain of Calvary. His
crucifixion is the fulfillment told by the prophets. His crucifixion showed his last words, his
suffering, his love for his mother, and his trust in his divine Father. He died for our sins.
Jesus death is recognized during Easter week , Easter is the day of Jesus rising from the dead.
His disciples went to go see him on the third day of his death. It is the time that we celebrate
Jesus Resurrection. Good Friday commemorates Jesus crucifixion and his death at Calvary, the
day he finishes his mission on Earth. Good Friday demonstrates God s love for us because Jesus
died for our sins and gave us a chance for salvation. We celebrate Easter every year in remembrance
for our lord and his

Statement Of Purpose To Join A Sorority
Coming into my freshman year of college, I knew that I wanted to get involved around campus.
I decided to join a sorority so I can get to know more people. First coming in, I just wanted to be a
part of something. I had no idea that one day I would be on council as a vice president for an
organization of over 300 people. It started with just one decision to apply for an appointed
officer position. I applied for the role of chaplain for the entire sorority. As a freshman, I knew
that I was not likely to get the position because they probably wanted older girls with more
experience. However, the spring of that year I was chosen from many applicants to be the

On a navy ship damage control is an all hands job. This being said all hands are required to
possess knowledge of all available damage control equipment. Should your ship take a hit from
an enemy missile or torpedo the damage must be assessed immediately and the investigator must
be able to analyze and determine the appropriate actions to correct the situation. One vital tool in
the damage control inventory of repair options is an E WARP patch (Emergency Water
Activated Repair Patch). The E WARP is an easy to use patch that can be used on many piping
systems. The EWARP comes in a clear plastic package that includes a foil pack containing an

This can be easily done by tracing the arrows on the pipe backwards. The arrows show the
direction of the flow and you will follow the arrows backwards until you come to a valve. When
you arrive at the valve you will rotate the handle in a clockwise motion until tight. The next step
for the service member is to determine if the damage meets the criteria for repair with the
EWARP. The EWARP should not be used on pipes that are operating above 150 PSI (pounds per
square inch). The PSI can be easily located along the pipe in bold black block lettering. Next the
service member will determine the operating temperature of the damaged pipe. The temperature
can be found by following the pipe to the source valve or pump where a thermometer can be
easily read. The piping needs to be operating at a temperature of less than 300 degrees
Fahrenheit. EWARP should also not be used on potable water lines or lines used for the transfer
of fuel systems. The contents of the pipe can be determined by the color of the pipe or the color
of the pipes valve. The following chart can be used determine pipe

there needs to be a change within our rights or lack thereof.

Langston Hughes is arguably the most famous black writer in all of American history. His works
are anthologized and taught in schools all across the nation and he is viewed by many as a
shinning beacon of American artistry at its best. Part of his genius in addressing racial issues in the
United States is in his nuanced approach to racial healing. Langston Hughespresents two different
ways of looking at the issue of race: one in Theme for English B and I, Too highlights a need for
national unity and oneness, while another, expressed in his essay The Negro Artist and the Racial
Mountain supports a celebration of one s heritage. Langston Hughes was born in Joplin, Missouri

black Americans their unique cultural heritage (Longabucco). Had Hughes followed the
conventions of early twentieth century literature, and tried to whitewash all of his writings, he

The ID, Ego and Superego in Lord of the Flies
The exemplification of Freud s id, superego, and ego:
A look at Jack, Piggy, Simon and Ralph within The Lord of the Flies
Freud primarily subscribed to the idea that there are two energies that drive human behavior. These
two energies are sex the pleasure principle and aggression. The human mind is comprised of the
conscious, preconscious, and unconscious. Within the realms of the mind, the human personality is
controlled by the id, the ego, and the superego. The id is driven by the pleasure principle. The
superego is the instinctual moral good, which aims to please the ego ideal, or the magnified moral
values. The ego interacts with both the id and the superego and aims to please both components
(Connors). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Simon is the one boy who never participates in destructive behaviors and always contributes to
the well being of the boys. He continues to work even after everyone stops, gives Piggy food
when no one else will, and speaks his mind about the beast. He is also the only one to realize that
the true beast is inside the boys. Simon s moral compass, much like the superego, allows him to
see the evil of mankind. Simon is whole heartedly good. The superego attempts to lead a person
to the morally right pathway, much like Simon aims to show Ralph how he can do what s best
for the tribe. The primitive nature of the others overpowers Simon s internal good nature. Even
after his death, Simon s moral nature lives on through the boys similar to how the superego can
continue to shine after a person follows the desires of the id. Ralph s character embodies the
ego. The ego is the rational aspect of the mind. Ralph s rationality is exhibited in his role as
leader. He focuses on the idea of being rescued and organizes the fires as a mode of getting the
attention of a rescue ship. He works on building shelters for the members of the tribe. He attempts
to keep meetings organized and establishes the role of the conch to keep order. Ralph makes the
decisions for the good of the group. He holds debates and always aims to have the group stick
together, despite Jack s constant attempts to break

The Shape Memory Effect And Super Elasticity
INTRODUCTION
The Shape Memory Alloys are quite fascinating materials characterised by a Shape Memory
effect and Super elasticity, which ordinary metals and alloys do not have. This unique behaviour
was first found in Au 47.5%Cd alloy in 1951, and was publicised by its discovery in a Ti Ni alloyin
1963. After much research and development thereafter, shape memory alloys are now being
practically used as new functional alloys for pipe couplings, antennae for cellular phones and
various actuators in electrical appliances, etc. Furthermore, they have attracted keen attention as
promising candidate for smart materials since they function as sensors as well as actuators.
The shape memory effect and super elasticity are based on the diffusion less transformation called
martensitic transformation. The Shape memory effect is a unique property of certain alloys
exhibiting martensitic transformations. Even though the alloy is deformed in low temperature
phase, it recovers its original shape by reverse transformation upon heating to a critical temperature
called reverse transformation temperature. Many other alloys such as In T1, 3, 4 Cu Zn and Cu Al
Ni were also found. The same alloys have another unique property called Super elasticity at a higher
temperature, which is associated with a large (18%) nonlinear recoverable strain upon loading and
unloading. Since these alloys have a unique property in remembering the original shape, having an
actuator function and having

The Clothing Industry Has Changed Changing Society Essay
The clothing industry has changed rapidly in the past couple of decades. While Nike and
Burberry are doing well despite a drastic loss of sales for high end fashion brands, some companies
have found far more success. Companies like H M, Zara and Forever21 have come into the scene
with their fast fashion. When people used to think about cheap clothingthey would think about a
low quality, ugly outfit. Now, people can get the latest fashion trends at a low cost. The people
in charge of these companies like Zara can be in the top 5 richest people in the world. But if
their clothes are cheap how do the companies possibly make money? This is made possible by
cheap labor overseas, low quality clothes and the emergence of fast fashion retailers. What tends
to differentiate the prices of clothes is the quality of the material. Materials like cashmere and
silk are more expensive than polyester or cotton. In the case of companies that sell purses, which
are always in high demand, luxury brands typically use pure leather. These high quality
materials tend to last longer and tend to feel better as well. However, quality is not valued as
much as it used to be. With the rise of affordable and fashionable clothing, people simply don t
feel the need to spend a lot of money on a clothing item, even if it is of high quality. There is no
longer a concern towards sacrificing fashion for being frugal because now everyone can look good.
There is no longer a wall separating those who wear

What Is Light Skin Complexion
In fact, light skin complexion was added to slave s population due to white slaves owners
having unconsented sexual relations with African women (Russell, Wilson, Hall, 1993). At any

Light skin complexion was referred to as Mulattos in which they were half African and half white

women felt the need to manipulate their identity to fit into society. In 1957 there were organized
clubs in the black community that upheld standards related to skin complexion in which their
members had to be lighter than a brown paper bag or have visible blue veins (Frazier, 1957 as

In practice however, admission to be a blue vein society depended not on family background but
on skin color. An applicant had to be fair enough for the spidery network of purplish veins at the

In today s society dark skin men and women conceptualize that light skin is more acceptable.

The war in Iraq is further poisoning the already noxious political atmosphere between Arabs and

the Arab public, while paranoid rhetoric about Western attacks against Islam elsewhere is
spreading from the religious fringe to the mainstream. It is simplistic and self serving for political

Rebecca Film Techniques
When Hitchcock wishes to exemplify a particular trait within his character, or reveal the
personality of a character, he does so with classy elegance. Such emphasis is laid onto few, yet
vital shots, which can reveal a whole lot of information in a few shots. Instead of using a wide
range of methods to convey the same information, why not simplify it, and convey the entire
array of emotions in a single, unique visual. For example; to exemplify the personality traits of a
lady, any other director of the time would have probably used a wide array of shots to convey the
same information. However Hitchcock says a whole lot, without saying much. In his filmRebecca,
the director wants to hint at the shrewdness, or the mean traits within a particular character, and he
achieves this by simply having the lady put out her cigarette, in something cold and delicate such as
cold cream. By showing this visual, the director allows us to understand what type of character this
lady is; without... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Here, the frames within the frame help relay positive information about the character. However in
other films such as The Lodger, framed photographs convey something entirely different. The
reaction that the lodger has upon seeing framed photographs of blonde women in his room, hint
that he might quite possibly be the blonde killer everyone is looking for. However we later
realise that his aversion to the blond girls comes from a tragic life event, where he lost his blonde
sister to the blonde killer.
Paintings in Hitchcock rarely play a merely decorative role. Instead, through their dynamic relation
to the act of framing, they project an influence into the world of the character as conduits of guilt

The Relationship Between Sam Spade And The Maltese Falcon...
Both Dashiell Hammett s development of Sam Spade in the Maltese Falcon and Dorothy Sayers
development of Harriet Vane in Gaudy Night, leave something to be said about the way British and
American detective novels create their characters in line with different views of life. Whether that
perspective is relative to the time period and country, or just the views of the author, it is clear that
the American hardboilednovel focuses strongly on the self interest of most of the characters, and
the self development of Sam Spade and what his perception of life is. Dorothy Sayers develops
her protagonist Harriet Vane in a similar way. She too is trying to understand her place in the
world and is given the opportunity to do so at Shrewsbury. The two novels contrast either
drastically in plot development and the types of crimes, which influences the character s views of
their own lives.
The Maltese Falcon begins by quickly establishing Sam Spade as a morally complex character
after his affair with his partner s wife, even though he is supposed to be the protagonist. Sam
Spade s opening description as a blond devil let the readers begin to picture his cynicism. Readers
can t expect the normal actions of a protagonist as they can in Gaudy Night. In a sub genre of
Mystery, this moral questioning plays on the emotional mystery of not knowing fully that the
protagonist is actually going to be the hero. Not only questioning if he s the hero, but questioning if
he might possibly be the

Can Continental Airlines Continue to Work Hard, Fly Right...
History of Continental Airlines
Continental Airlines began service in 1934 as Varney Speed Lines, named after one of its initial
owners, Walter T. Varney operating out of El Paso, Texas and extending through Las Vegas,
Albuquerque and Santa Fe, New Mexico to Pueblo, Colorado. The airline started with Lockheed

planes, including the Lodestar. It was renamed Continental on 1 July 1937 after a new owner
Robert Six had taken a forty percent ownership with Varney s co founder Louis Mueller. Six

Most agreements permit airlines to fly from their home country to designated airports in the other
country: some also extend the freedom to provide continuing service to a third country, or to
another destination in the other country while carrying passengers from overseas. In the 1990s,
open skies agreements became more common. These agreements take many of these regulatory
powers from state governments and open up international routes to further competition. Open skies
agreements have met some criticism, particularly within the European Union, whose airlines would
be at a comparative disadvantage with the United States because of cabotage restrictions.

The Roles Of Black Women On Reality Television
Reality television is a programming that documents apparently unscripted real life situations.
The genre of reality TV shows focus tends to be on drama and personal conflict, rather than
educating viewers. The roles of black women on reality television depict negative stereotypes.
The roles they are portraying makes them out to look negative. Black women are already
assumed to be angry, petty, loud, violent, bad attitudes, drama queens, and many more. Their
actions on reality TV is portrayed to people outside our culture exactly the way they expects us
to be or act. Stereotypes are taken into new levels based on reality TV, because to a certain
extent, majority of black women in my society is acting that way. Those women actions on
reality TV shows seem to have an influence on majority of black women who are viewers actions.
For instance, we have reality shows like Love and Hip Hop, Basketball Wives, Bad Girl Clubs,
The Real House Wives of Atlanta, and many more. Love Hip Hop is one of the most talked
about shows that negatively portrays the roles of black women. That show is full of drama
which makes it interesting to watch, but shows a poor look on black women. TV critics says that
this is one of the most intense reality shows, because it shows verbal and physical abuse in black
relationships. The original Love Hip Hop started Mona Scott Young s depredation into reality TV,
stereotyping black women as angry, promiscuous and so on. In one of the seasons L HH New

King Henry Viii And The Schism
King Henry VIII and the Schism
St. Augustine, a Catholic saint that helped developed the Western Catholic Church, once said There
is nothing more serious than the sacrilege of schism because there is no just case of severing the
unity of the church (St. Augustine). Through this quote it is learned of the significance of the
Catholic Church saw to staying together and avoiding a schism( a split between parties based on
different beliefs). The Catholics believed that in the event of a break in the church would cause a
great disaster because they believed that the church needs to stay together as a whole or it would
be blasphemy, and heresy. The Church also believed that if the church was to have a schism it
would destroy the unity and sanctity of the church. This in fact would be believed to take away
from the church in the manner of it not being the only church with the same mission. Therefore
when King Henry VIII ( the second Tudor, monarch, who ruled from 1509 1547) separated from
the Catholic Church it went completely against the mission that St. Augustine was trying to teach
us through his comments about the church having a schism. The dangers it could have caused
were believed to lead to a destruction of the church and lead to the end of the Catholic Church all
together. Although there are people that view King Henry VIII actions as positive for Europe and
beneficial to Europe especially England, it should be seen that King Henry VIII actions were not

The Importance Of Essential For Healthy Family Functioning...
According to Professor Rick Peterson, there are five essential roles essential to healthy family
functioning, they include providing resources, support and nurturing, development of life skills
(especially for young children), maintenance and management of the family system, and sexual
gratification between spouses. (Peterson and Green) In this section we re going to look at how
these are incorporated into the familys instrumental functioning and their expressive functioning.
Instrumental Functioning As stated earlier in the paper, this family is very set in old traditions.

Essay about Marketing Research
Introduction In almost every business companies look to improve their bottom line, keep existing
customers, and make non customers new customers. Several ways to achieve these corporate
goals are available. Trial and error is one method. Following the industry and the competition is
another avenue is taken. However, there is one way that many companies don t utilize enough. It
is through the process of market research. Take a local hair salon as an example. It is likely they
will do plenty of marketingto increase their client base, yet probably do very little in terms of

They want to provide a local clientele with a reasonably priced haircut without the frills. Instead
of frills, the salon has decided channel money elsewhere. Their plan is to stay open Sunday and
Monday, two days of the week many salons close. This was plan was to edge out the competition
and cater to population. The salons city location is made up of mainly working class with a
variety of ethnic and racial backgrounds. The streets are busy, but the chairs are empty. Managers
worry their plan may be too ambitious. They now must be very careful on the balance in the
marketing mix. How will they know where to focus and who to focus on? What is the best move
for the salon?
Benefits
As highlighted, marketing research has value for many companies. Unfortunately the local salon
does not currently utilize or benefit from the process. However, they should. Market research can
assist the salon in getting to know the wants and needs of their consumers in that particular
geographical area. One of the drawbacks for the salon was cost and perhaps they were wise.
According to McDaniel and Gates, authors of Marketing Research, marketing research should be
undertaken only when the perceived benefits are greater than the cost. However, depending on the
size of the study and the type of study benefits could outweigh the cost. Such benefits can include

main lymphoid organs are the spleen, tonsils, thymus and lymph nodes.
The lymph nodes are placed along the lymphatic vessels. Each node has a fibrous capsule, a cortex,

The lymph enters the lymph nodes through afferent lymphatic vessels and exits through the

Most lymphoid organs contain both macrophages and lymphocytes. The spleen is a place for

Prayer In Schools Research Paper
In 1960 Madalyn Murray O Hair sued Baltimore public schools for requiring students to read the
Bible and to recite the Lord s prayer. At this time in history reciting prayers and reading the Bible
were common in schools across the nation. Children could be excused from this exercise if they
were equipped with a note from their parents. Instead of O Hair following this procedure she
believed that this exercise violated the First Amendment rights. The case ended up making it to
the Supreme Court where is was joined with a similar case. In 1963, the court ruled in favor of O

The biggest motive behind banning is the separation of church and state. Separation of church and
state is the distance between religion and the nation state. This is hard concept to find a concept
to find a fine line between church and state. This can be resolved by keeping everything
completely separate. All church related stuff stays within church or home and all state stuff is
elsewhere. Prayer within ones self is not banned so there is no need for mandatory prayer
especially if there are students who choose not to pray. They would be singled out due to not
participating which is not fair for them. Prayer within public schools could potentially lead to
intolerance due to religious difference amongst the students that were unaware. This could again
also lead to singling out student also known as ostracized. Public schools were created for all
students and are funded by all taxpayers. With that being said it only makes sense and is right for
the school to stay neutral due to the difference in religious beliefs between students and taxpayers.
Banning school prayer has prevented many conflicts of within the school system because of

Raging Bull Themes
Martin Scorsese s Raging Bull is a movie based on the real life story of a headstrong
middleweight boxer as he strives to become a champion. His name is Jake LaMotta (Robert De
Niro), a world renowned boxer in the 1940s. Themes of violence, jealousy, and insecurity carry
the film. LaMotta is written off as a physically and verbally abusive man, who seems limited only
to the brutal emotions of wrath, anger, and envy. His life passes through sequential phases of
punishment, negotiation, and self disintegration, due to his copious amounts of inner demons.
Raging Bull tells the story of an unlovable washout who manipulates the odds stacked exceedingly
in his favor, to destroy himself. LaMotta finds that his own malice, cruelty, lack of humanity,
incoherent rage, and inner demons can best be expressed or exorcised inside of the boxing ring.

seat. Instead, this film is the ultimate character study.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Instead, the movie is about what it means to live life in the way he does. This moving realism is
especially established in the opening and closing scenes. It is in these scenes that we witness a
much older, much more beaten down Jake who is balding and overweight, who is currently making
living managing a nightclub and even emceeing at a strip

The life of teens going to black tie events every week or so even in New York can be unrealistic.
Another fault viewers might complain about is the plots of some episodes may seem obvious or

Symptoms And Symptoms Of Hallucinations Essay
INTRODUCTION
Hallucinations are one of the most intriguing secrets of the mind, which are characterized by false
visions, sounds, taste, smell, and touch that can occur when one is awake; it has a sufficient sense
of reality, but one has no control over it. Hallucinations are the form of perception. There is no
particular part of the brain that is involved in hallucinating. For example, people seeing faces could
have a hyperactivity in fusiform face area involved in facial recognition. People with hyperactivity
in the auditory cortex might experience auditory hallucinations: hearing music, or voices, that are
not there. Hallucinations can be frightening, strange, or even amusing and divine. There are
numerous causes of hallucinations: they are usually experienced by people with schizophrenia,
Charles Bonnet syndrome, Parkinson s disease, or other psychological and mental disorders.
However, hallucinations can also be experienced by healthy individuals, who are the subjects for
studying the nature and causes of hallucinations, as they do not interact with other symptoms like
in patients with schizophrenia. Researchers use functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI)
scans to track the brain activities during hallucinations. The aim of this research paper is to describe
several types of hallucinations, ways of studying hallucinations, and possible treatments.

Fto Program
Field training officer (FTO) programs were created so that agencies could better manage the post
academy training for officers that traditionally were not hired into this field of work (Doerner,
2012). The good old boy program was out, and the implementation of a structured, standardized
FTO program became the replacement (Doerner, 2012). In order to implement a FTO program, it
must be defined so that the overall objectives are met. The San Jose PoliceDepartment was the first
to initiate an FTO program. With some slight changes, this system is typically the one in use today
(Doerner, 2012).

Studies in the 80 s have shown that a greater percentage of blacks and females could not
successfully complete the FTO program compared to white male officers (Doerner, 2012). If
this was based on unfairly treating blacks and females during the training, then the concern is
that racism exists and much time and money has been wasted getting the rookie officers to this
point (Doerner, 2012). This would also have a negative impact on any affirmative action efforts.
However, Doerner conducted an extensive study in 1989 of over 300,000 ratings and concluded
that white FTO s did not unfairly treat black rookies and male FTO s did not unfairly use
different standards for female rookie officers (Doerner, 2012). Further investigation discovered
that blacks struggled in passing radio use, legal knowledge, and report writing, which was
surprising as they were required to have a 2 year college degree (Doerner, 2012). Changes to the
demographic unbalancing of FTO instructors, lengths of phases being increased, and lessening the
expectations of the program all were implemented to overcome the concerns of affirmative actions

It is after close examination of both the Lillard Center and the Deerpath Hall, that the viewer can
realize the presence of gravity defying elements present in both structures. Even though these
elements do not enhance each building s own function, it does, however, act as an ornament to the
overall design that attracts viewers attention. To portray this idea, the Deerpath Hall front structure
displays an illusion of even flatness in the building s main front wall. This is created by the top,
front section of the building s wall being indented inwards and thus, creating a hollow space. To
then create a sense of flatness, a small portion of its roof hovers over the indented part of the wall
in such a way that the illusion is formed. Not only does this added ornament conveyed a sense of

a crime deserving of the harshest punishment available at the hands of the criminal justice
system. This brings us to one of the most debated upon issues of today. Is taking the life of one
who has taken the life of others an acceptable punishment? When making your decision think
about this question; Is the life of the murderer worth any less than the victim s life? Is the death
penalty in any form morally justifiable in today s society? The underlying question would be is
any kind of killing acceptable, regardless of what the motive behind it is. I personally don t believe
that it is an acceptable punishment no matter what the crime. I see it as becoming somewhat like
the monsters that we strive to put behind bars.
Thesis
In regards to the death penalty, it is my belief that life without parole is better for several reasons.
I m against the death penalty not for the benefit of the criminals but because it doesn t reduce crime
rates, it lengthens the agony experienced by the families of the victims, costs considerably more
than life in prison, and, most importantly, risks the deaths of many innocent people. The death
penalty ends up being a more tedious process than sentencing someone to life

Desert Ecology
Prickly Pear Cactus Antioxidant Effects and Other medical benefits Prickly pear cactus is the
common name of many different species in the genus Opuntia and the species within can be less
than one foot tall up to seven feet tall. This cactus has large fleshy pads, and very large spines (2).
These edible plants have potential health benefits that have been explored in some research. These
plants have been shown to have antioxidant properties, and organ protective qualities, analgesic,
and anti inflammatory properties. Many of these properties can be beneficial for humans because
these issues affect all people at some point in their life. The studies examined in this paper will

The fruits used to compare the compounds were different in color, one contained purple fruit, and
the other contained orange fruit. Both fruits had similar antioxidant activity, but the purple variety
had more active components. The active components in this fruit give prickly pear cactus the
antioxidant qualities that can benefit the body in ways that other fruits can. Another study that was
performed examined different prickly pear juices to examine potential antioxidant effects. The
juices picked were the most frequently consumed varieties: red purple, white green, and yellow
orange. Methods used determined in vitro effects which only give a rough estimate of in vivo
effects, but it was determined that the compounds and how they interact give a better idea of how
much of an antioxidant the fruit is overall. In this study the researchers treated mice with a
chemical that caused oxidative stress, and given prickly pear juice in order to counteract the
effects of the oxidative stress. Blood analysis was used in order to examine the amount of
protection the prickly pear juice had given to the mice. The results determined that the red purple
colored juice was a better antioxidant than the white green and yellow orange varieties indicating
that the antioxidant properties may be due to the polyphenols the juices contain since the red purple
variety is

Dispersion of Different Silane Modified TiO2 Rutile...
Figure 3 shows dispersion of untreated, APS, FHES and TMSO treated TRNPs in different
solvents after centrifuging at 1000 rpm for 15 minutes. After centrifuging, if most of the particle
settles down it is an indicator of poor dispersion of the particle in the solvent. When the relatively
large particles settles down and small particles remains in the suspension it is an indicator of
medium dispersion. If all the particles remains in the solventand no precipitation is found it is an
indicator of very good dispersion. From Figure 3 it is found that, untreated TiO2 is best dispersed
in DMF and DMAc polar aprotic solvent which is also supported from small Z average diameter
and acceptable PDI value. For untreated NP medium dispersion is found in DI water and ethanol
and poor dispersion in TCB, Toluene, DCM, choloroform, THF and isopropanol. As the untreated
TRNP is hydrophilic in nature the particles tends to disperse well in relatively polar solvent. APS
treated titania nanoparticle renders hydrophobic behavior to the surface [20] and essentially doesn
t dissolve in DI water, DMF and DMAC etc. highly polar solvent. The best solvent for APS
modified titania is ethanol, isopropanol and formic acidwhich is conspicuous both from digital
image and small mean diameter value of the nanoparticle. Due to the presence of NH2 functional
group at the end of organic surface of APS treated TRNPs the hydrogen bonding force is the
dominant dispersion force. As a result, APS treated NPs

pursuing it, it is a curse some may say some may find it a gift. A fictional character by the name

should have understood that he cannot find love in materialistic thing, but in Camila or Vera.
Some could say it was his immaturity, I believe it was pride. However, realizing in the end of the

Bandini lost identity, which he sold to Miss Hargraves, and lead to a domino effect a sorrowful.

The United States Health Care Policy
Introduction
Every nation holds multitudes of health care policy facing debate. Analyzing the strengths and
weaknesses of other countries could benefit the United States of America to create improvements.
For decades, the right to health care in the United States has fueled public debates and social
conversation. Should we implement the right similar to European policies? The United States
struggles in agreement to start making changes, but we can develop plans from successes seen in
Italy. Italy has achieved cost containment and patient coverage, which are two of the largest
struggles within the United States health care system. This paper will outline Italian structure and
policies to aid in the process of formulating a plan for positive changes by describing the following:
finances and structure of Italian health care, disparities seen within Italian health care offered, the
overall structure of the United States health care system and conclusion of suggestions to better our
health care system.
Italian Financial and Organization of Health care
Italian health care, Servizio Sanitario Nazional (SSN), provides universal coverage to all citizens
and immigrants if government forms are completed entirely showing financial need or previous
payment towards a European Union health care system; although, undocumented immigrants
desiring health care resources need to understand where and how to fill out forms in Italian just for
medical cards for general practitioner access.

Julie, as you indicated, segmentation allowed CHS to provide services specifically selected to meet

Segmentation helped to improve patient outcomes by targeting specific risk factors in a given
population, as well as estimate the cost of providing care, which helped them with payer contract
negotiations (Quelch Rodriquez, 2015). Other healthcare organization have used segmentation to
provide care to specific patient populations. However, segmentation will often look at clinical and
financial data to identify patients with chronic conditions,

Moral Lessons in Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein
Mary Shelley s Frankenstein has become a classic in modern literature. Her tale is full of moral
lessons that encompass a wide variety of subjects but one of the most prevalent is the theme of
knowledge and its pursuit. Frankenstein, Walton, and the Monster all have an appetite for acquiring
knowledge and actively pursue their perspective interests, but it soon turns to the obsessive and
proves to be dangerous. Each of the character s desires demonstrates to be detrimental to them when
no boundaries are established. Through the use of consequences, Shelley s Frankensteinshows that
the relentless and obsessive pursuit of knowledge can lead to dangerous and disastrous situations.
The primary example for the search of knowledge that quickly turned obsessive is Victor
Frankenstein. His profound interest for the pursuit of knowledge and the production of life
quickly becomes obsessive, thinking of nothing but the cause and generation of life (Shelley 31).
His primary virtue, his love for learning, quickly became obsessive. Frankenstein ignores his
family and friends, and seemed to have lost all soul or sensation but for this one pursuit (Shelley
33), becoming oppressed by his obsession, and failing to care for himself. His intense need to learn
and expose all the secrets of nature drive him beyond all reason, clouding his judgment and
compelling him forward even when his human nature turned with loathing from what he was
attempting to do and create (Shelley 33).

The Classroom and Learning a Second Language
There is only one reason could be considered why learners decide to use L1 in the classroom. This
is because the teacher s efforts encourage them to communicate in the target language. Harmer
(2002) maintains that the second language users choose to use the mother tongue when there is no
compatible with their L2 level. When the teacher does not create an environment for students to
communicate naturally to use English, students may need to use L1 to communicate. If the teacher
does not use the target languagetoo much so that students may feel free to use their mother tongue
in the second languageclassroom. Thus, some different learning stylescan be implemented that
enable students to use the target language much more easily.
Learners and teachers of L2 used their L1 in classroom for few reasons which are proficiency
level, for comprehension, affective factor and to express feelings and thoughts.
2.2.1 Proficiency level
Learning a new language might be frustrating for students who have low proficiency level.
Difficulties in producing sentences with correct use of grammar and appropriate choice of words
is somewhat common amongst students whose ability to acquire an L2 is low. Thus, switching to
L1 is the easiest way to overcome those problems. Bouangeune (2009) stated that L1 makes an
important contribution to English teaching mostly in the area of vocabulary for students with a
lower proficiency level. However, using L1 is harmless in any L2 classroom as it could be

Persuasive Essay On The American Dream
The phrase The American Dream is relatively old and has a long history, and although its ideas has
changed tremendously throughout the centuries, it still holds great meaning behind it. It not only
symbolizes financial success, but having the freedom to live independently. For some, living the
American Dream means having justice, material possession, or just pursuing everlasting happiness.
The new American Dreamrequires you to earn opportunity, and is has been more difficult for
others based on their social standing, ethnicity, and race to obtain; as opposed to the past American
Dream which involved optimism and hope for a better life. Each source clearly demonstrates the
need for determination and willpower to overcome barriers and obstacles of life.
In the early years of America, the concept of money and fame was not the American Dream. For
the Puritan minister, John Winthrop, the American Dream was love and unity, creating a utopian
society based on Christian ideals. Throughout A Model of Christian Charity, Winthrop quotes the
Bible to prove that the particular lifestyle of loving and giving is the only way to obtain such an
outstanding utopian society. In A Model of Christian Charity, Matthew 7:12: says, Whatsoever ye
would that men should to you , creating equality within the world (Winthrop, 25). Winthrop
believed that if people were to unite in love, they will be able to change the world in a more
positive manner. Furthermore, he believed the Lord created individuals such as the rich, poor, the
powerful, and the weak to help each other with each of their different strengths. In conclusion, it
presented exactly how the Puritans should treat one another as it would benefit the colonies
overall survival. Not only did Winthrop want his colony to survive, but wanted to set a good
example to everyone else. This was his vision of the perfect American Dream.
Benjamin Franklin demonstrates the possibilities of life in the New World through his own rise
from lower middle class as a youth to one of the most admired men in the world. The American
Dream for Franklin was to be self made and make America more remarkable. Franklin states, I had,
on the whole, abundant reason to be satisfied with my being

Evidence of needed policy:
Evidence showed that only 12% of Americans are able to demonstrate an adequate level of health
literacy, resulting an additional $73 billion health care cost annually because of more medication,
more hospital visits, longer hospital stay, and unable to acquire necessary health services due to
lack of needed skills (Egbert Nanna, 2009). Another reason for needing the policy is to support and
fulfill the Healthy People 2020 national goal of improving health communication, and interaction
between care providers and patients, and improve shared decision making (Koh, Brach, Harris,
Parchman, 2013). More than 23 million Americans have limited English proficiency resulting in
low level of health literacy; similarly, average Americans only have capability of reading 5th grade
level, therefore, we strongly need a policy that establishes the information and communication
system as simple, attractive, and relevant in order to effectively educate patients (Center for Health
Care Strategies (CHCS), 2013).

  • 2. Pelagius Vs Augustine http://www.iep.utm.edu/augustin/ http://www.christianitytoday.com/history/people/theologians /augustine of hippo.html Augustine vs Pelagius Pelagius argued that all men have the chance to live a perfect life(sinless) even after the fall of Adam. He also took issue with Augustine saying that men need the grace of God to obey his commands. He said that if God commands someone to do something then they have the ability by themselves to obey that command. http://www.ligonier.org/learn/articles/pelagian controversy / Manichaeism: For nine years he sought truth within the sect of Manichaeism, fascinated by their materialism and dualism. They addressed the problem of evil by combining thought from Christianity, Buddha, and Zoroaster (a Persian sage). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Augustine did not agree with that. Also in reaction against the Donatists, Augustine developed a distinction between the regularity and validity of the sacraments. Regular sacraments are performed by clergy of the Catholic Church, while sacraments performed by schismatics are considered irregular. Nevertheless, the validity of the sacraments do not depend upon the holiness of the priests who perform them (ex opere operato); therefore, irregular sacraments are still accepted as valid provided they are done in the name of Christ and in the manner prescribed by the Church. On this point Augustine departs from the earlier teaching of Cyprian, who taught that converts from schismatic movements must be re baptised.[95] Augustine taught that sacraments administered outside the Catholic Church, though true sacraments, avail nothing. However, he also stated that baptism, while it does not confer any grace when done outside the Church, does confer grace as soon as one is received into the Catholic ... • 3. The Five K Of Sikh Symbolism The Sikh people do not practice many examples of outward, external worship i especially those that may be troubling. They do practice one outward tradition, though, the wearing of the Five K s. The symbolism behind the five K s remains the focus of their practice. This tradition remains acceptable because it points the Sikhpeople to their worship, and reinforces the ethics of their religion. The five K s are consistent reminders of God and their devotion to Him. These five symbols include the Kesh, Kangha, Kara, Kachera and Kirpan. The five K s is a tradition that dates back centuries and remain an important part of the Sikh tradition. The pieces help the people reflect on their religion, and focus on righteous living. They view wearing the five K s as a practice necessary for achieving union with God and displaying their devotion. Sikh people do not have to wear all 5 of the K s. Some may wear all of them, and some may only wear one. Many will try to wear as many as possible, although the practicality of the five K s has varied over time. The Kesh is uncut, or natural hair that is not styled. The Kesh is a style for both men and women. Usually, a turban or another fabric cloth that covers a topknot guards the hair. Sikh people recognize their creation by God, and aim to remain as natural as they were made. They believe one should not interfere with their God given form. This supports their belief that everyone is a creation of God, and acknowledges his creations should remain. The Kangha is a small comb that is worn to keep the hair neat. It is more of a practical piece rather than symbolic. The Kangha is mostly a tool that allows the Sikh people to wear their hair naturally and acknowledge their natural appearance and being. The Kara is an iron or steel bracelet that is worn by the Sikh people. It is worn always on the right wrist. The Kara represents both community and unity. The sense of community the Kara brings, is that of the Sikh people. When wearing the Kara, the people believe they are all unified as a singular community. It is an important aspect of the religion to serve each other and remain a unified body. The Kara represents a constant contact and unity with God, and a tool of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. Mussolini s Economic Policy And The Success Of Benito... Benito Mussolini seized power in 1922 when he was appointed Prime Minister, following his infamous March on Rome. Mussolini initially expressed little to no interest in economic matters once in office and had no coherent economic plan for Italy. Furthermore, as a former socialist, he disliked capitalism and the free market. However, post 1922, he came to the realization that he needed a strong economic plan to retain his office as well as to re establish Italy as a major power. Mussolini, like many other dictators, was not an economist and so none of his policies were without their downfalls. It can be argued that his most successful policy was the Battle for the Grain. The aim of this policy was to create national self sufficiency in grain by encouraging farmers to use more modern machinery and farming... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Other semi successes included the Battle for the Land and the Lira. On the other hand, there were many policies that did more harm than good. In both songs, the allusion reinforces the fact that the speaker wants something that they cannot have, similar to the sailors and the Sirens. In Carolina, Eric Church sings, I d love to see my mama/ Maybe go for a drive/ But I gotta play the star in some little town again tonight (Church). This signifies the fact that the artist wants to go back to his hometown, but cannot, because his occupation prevents him. In Song to the Siren, Tim Buckley cries out, ...let me enfold you/ Here I am, here I am, waiting to hold you (Buckley). • 7. How Ecology Is Being Affected by Climate Change In the world today their has been a surge of scientific, political and economical forces hurdling to prove and disprove the existence of global climate change. I assert that the symptoms that our planet is suffering are the truest indications to justify worrying about our collective future on this land; which I will present in terms of how the ecology is being effected by global climate change. In an article reporting the findings of a study conducted in Israel by Tarryn Schuldiner Harpaz and Moshe Coll entitled Effects of Global Warmingon Predatory Bugs Supported by Data Across Geographic and Seasonal Climatic Gradients the authors state, [The] average global surface temperature... has risen by approximately 0.75 [degrees Celsius] during the past 100 years (1906 2005)... average temperatures rose by approximately 0.13 [degrees Celsius] per decade... And indicated that the majority of the change had occurred between 1956 through 2005 (Schuldiner Harpaz and Coll). The study measured the effects of climatechange on various species of insects in the area of and surrounding Israel. After collecting records of the climate gradients, annual temperature records, insect species samples of the region and comparing it to samples of current species morphology (the study of an organisms structure and form) how continuous change in climate effects said insects, and multiple region s annual temperatures records, they found that while some species were able to adapt to the ... The story takes place in 1943 in Germany. The period time is authentic because that is when Denmark surrendered to Germany in the war. The place is real because germany started the war and then denmark surrendered to them. B. Some details that describe the historical period is that they travel around on horses or horse drawn carriages. They lived in apartments that are not as modern as today. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I think the central conflict is real because in the 1940s the natis were sending families away and most of the parents had to leave their kid with another family because the war was going on. Also it in that time there was a lot of Soldiers at every corner of the block so it was unsafe for children to walk home or be home by themselves. V. A. I think the author s purpose of writing this blog was because she wanted to tell the reader what life was like in the 1940s in Germany and how hard it was to live because of the Nazis. I think the author chose to write about this particular historical because a lot was going on during the 1940s like the war and the Nazi trying to get rid of the Jews. I also think the author chose to write about this historical period because She was interested about how she had to live through the war and through having to take random kids in that they didn t know anything about. B. I think the theme or Central message is courage but also fear because you need to have courage to face all the things that would come your way. The theme is also fear because even though you have to have the courage to get through all those hard times but also you have to have fear because if you don t have fear then you would not be able to have the courage to do those ... It will bring the ancient covenant to is full and complete fulfillment. Being saved from sin is what salvation is about. God gave us that chance by sending down his only son down to Earth to die for us and give us a chance to enter heaven. We can t achieve salvation alone, we need Gods love and mercy. To begin with, Jesuslife had to do with the incarnation, God becoming flesh. It also had to do with his baptism, he was baptise by John the Baptist in the Jordan river. His crucifixion showed his last words, his suffering, his love for his mother, and his trust in his divine Father. He died for our sins. Jesus death is recognized during Easter week , Easter is the day of Jesus rising from the dead. His disciples went to go see him on the third day of his death. It is the time that we celebrate Jesus Resurrection. Good Friday commemorates Jesus crucifixion and his death at Calvary, the day he finishes his mission on Earth. I had no idea that one day I would be on council as a vice president for an organization of over 300 people. It started with just one decision to apply for an appointed officer position. I applied for the role of chaplain for the entire sorority. As a freshman, I knew that I was not likely to get the position because they probably wanted older girls with more experience. Should your ship take a hit from an enemy missile or torpedo the damage must be assessed immediately and the investigator must be able to analyze and determine the appropriate actions to correct the situation. One vital tool in the damage control inventory of repair options is an E WARP patch (Emergency Water Activated Repair Patch). The ID, Ego and Superego in Lord of the Flies The exemplification of Freud s id, superego, and ego: A look at Jack, Piggy, Simon and Ralph within The Lord of the Flies Freud primarily subscribed to the idea that there are two energies that drive human behavior. These two energies are sex the pleasure principle and aggression. The human mind is comprised of the conscious, preconscious, and unconscious. Within the realms of the mind, the human personality is controlled by the id, the ego, and the superego. The id is driven by the pleasure principle. The superego is the instinctual moral good, which aims to please the ego ideal, or the magnified moral values. Simon s moral compass, much like the superego, allows him to see the evil of mankind. Simon is whole heartedly good. • 17. The Shape Memory Effect And Super Elasticity INTRODUCTION The Shape Memory Alloys are quite fascinating materials characterised by a Shape Memory effect and Super elasticity, which ordinary metals and alloys do not have. This unique behaviour was first found in Au 47.5%Cd alloy in 1951, and was publicised by its discovery in a Ti Ni alloyin 1963. After much research and development thereafter, shape memory alloys are now being practically used as new functional alloys for pipe couplings, antennae for cellular phones and various actuators in electrical appliances, etc. Furthermore, they have attracted keen attention as promising candidate for smart materials since they function as sensors as well as actuators. The shape memory effect and super elasticity are based on the diffusion less transformation called martensitic transformation. The Shape memory effect is a unique property of certain alloys exhibiting martensitic transformations. Even though the alloy is deformed in low temperature phase, it recovers its original shape by reverse transformation upon heating to a critical temperature called reverse transformation temperature. Many other alloys such as In T1, 3, 4 Cu Zn and Cu Al Ni were also found. The same alloys have another unique property called Super elasticity at a higher temperature, which is associated with a large (18%) nonlinear recoverable strain upon loading and unloading. Since these alloys have a unique property in remembering the original shape, having an actuator function and having ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Companies like H M, Zara and Forever21 have come into the scene with their fast fashion. When people used to think about cheap clothingthey would think about a low quality, ugly outfit. Now, people can get the latest fashion trends at a low cost. The people in charge of these companies like Zara can be in the top 5 richest people in the world. But if their clothes are cheap how do the companies possibly make money? This is made possible by cheap labor overseas, low quality clothes and the emergence of fast fashion retailers. What tends to differentiate the prices of clothes is the quality of the material. Materials like cashmere and silk are more expensive than polyester or cotton. In the case of companies that sell purses, which are always in high demand, luxury brands typically use pure leather. These high quality materials tend to last longer and tend to feel better as well. However, quality is not valued as much as it used to be. With the rise of affordable and fashionable clothing, people simply don t feel the need to spend a lot of money on a clothing item, even if it is of high quality. Both Dashiell Hammett s development of Sam Spade in the Maltese Falcon and Dorothy Sayers development of Harriet Vane in Gaudy Night, leave something to be said about the way British and American detective novels create their characters in line with different views of life. Whether that perspective is relative to the time period and country, or just the views of the author, it is clear that the American hardboilednovel focuses strongly on the self interest of most of the characters, and the self development of Sam Spade and what his perception of life is. Dorothy Sayers develops her protagonist Harriet Vane in a similar way. She too is trying to understand her place in the world and is given the opportunity to do so at Shrewsbury. The two novels contrast either drastically in plot development and the types of crimes, which influences the character s views of their own lives. King Henry Viii And The Schism King Henry VIII and the Schism St. Augustine, a Catholic saint that helped developed the Western Catholic Church, once said There is nothing more serious than the sacrilege of schism because there is no just case of severing the unity of the church (St. Augustine). Through this quote it is learned of the significance of the Catholic Church saw to staying together and avoiding a schism( a split between parties based on different beliefs). The Catholics believed that in the event of a break in the church would cause a great disaster because they believed that the church needs to stay together as a whole or it would be blasphemy, and heresy. The Church also believed that if the church was to have a schism it would destroy the unity and sanctity of the church. This in fact would be believed to take away from the church in the manner of it not being the only church with the same mission. Therefore when King Henry VIII ( the second Tudor, monarch, who ruled from 1509 1547) separated from the Catholic Church it went completely against the mission that St. Augustine was trying to teach us through his comments about the church having a schism. The dangers it could have caused were believed to lead to a destruction of the church and lead to the end of the Catholic Church all together. Prayer within public schools could potentially lead to intolerance due to religious difference amongst the students that were unaware. This could again also lead to singling out student also known as ostracized. Public schools were created for all students and are funded by all taxpayers. With that being said it only makes sense and is right for the school to stay neutral due to the difference in religious beliefs between students and taxpayers. • 33. Raging Bull Themes Martin Scorsese s Raging Bull is a movie based on the real life story of a headstrong middleweight boxer as he strives to become a champion. His name is Jake LaMotta (Robert De Niro), a world renowned boxer in the 1940s. Themes of violence, jealousy, and insecurity carry the film. LaMotta is written off as a physically and verbally abusive man, who seems limited only to the brutal emotions of wrath, anger, and envy. His life passes through sequential phases of punishment, negotiation, and self disintegration, due to his copious amounts of inner demons. Raging Bull tells the story of an unlovable washout who manipulates the odds stacked exceedingly in his favor, to destroy himself. LaMotta finds that his own malice, cruelty, lack of humanity, incoherent rage, and inner demons can best be expressed or exorcised inside of the boxing ring. Boxing is the medium used to forward the story, but this is not a boxing film. Boxing takes the back seat. Instead, this film is the ultimate character study.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is an argument I can perceive gaining no support. If anything, not showing LaMotta s childhood or experiences only serves tribute to the actuality that he has been and always will be what he is. At no point do we ever concern ourselves about what made Jake LaMotta who he is. Instead, the movie is about what it means to live life in the way he does. This moving realism is especially established in the opening and closing scenes. It is in these scenes that we witness a much older, much more beaten down Jake who is balding and overweight, who is currently making living managing a nightclub and even emceeing at a strip ... The life of teens going to black tie events every week or so even in New York can be unrealistic. Another fault viewers might complain about is the plots of some episodes may seem obvious or happen too fast. Viewers can be left with disappointment because some issues can be left resolved with simple solutions, or some can be completely ignored altogether. Specifically, a scene in the show has a con man pretending to be Serena s friend; Poppy Lifton, get away with all the money, but it shows another character Georgina Sparks in a car across the street from Poppy saying I ll handle this and later on in the next episode the money is back. In that case, I actually wanted to see how she got the money back, and I was left confused and a little letdown. Symptoms And Symptoms Of Hallucinations Essay INTRODUCTION Hallucinations are one of the most intriguing secrets of the mind, which are characterized by false visions, sounds, taste, smell, and touch that can occur when one is awake; it has a sufficient sense of reality, but one has no control over it. Hallucinations are the form of perception. There is no particular part of the brain that is involved in hallucinating. For example, people seeing faces could have a hyperactivity in fusiform face area involved in facial recognition. People with hyperactivity in the auditory cortex might experience auditory hallucinations: hearing music, or voices, that are not there. Hallucinations can be frightening, strange, or even amusing and divine. There are numerous causes of hallucinations: they are usually experienced by people with schizophrenia, Charles Bonnet syndrome, Parkinson s disease, or other psychological and mental disorders. However, hallucinations can also be experienced by healthy individuals, who are the subjects for studying the nature and causes of hallucinations, as they do not interact with other symptoms like in patients with schizophrenia. Researchers use functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) scans to track the brain activities during hallucinations. In order to implement a FTO program, it must be defined so that the overall objectives are met. The San Jose PoliceDepartment was the first to initiate an FTO program. Studies in the 80 s have shown that a greater percentage of blacks and females could not successfully complete the FTO program compared to white male officers (Doerner, 2012). If this was based on unfairly treating blacks and females during the training, then the concern is that racism exists and much time and money has been wasted getting the rookie officers to this point (Doerner, 2012). This would also have a negative impact on any affirmative action efforts. However, Doerner conducted an extensive study in 1989 of over 300,000 ratings and concluded that white FTO s did not unfairly treat black rookies and male FTO s did not unfairly use different standards for female rookie officers (Doerner, 2012). Further investigation discovered that blacks struggled in passing radio use, legal knowledge, and report writing, which was surprising as they were required to have a 2 year college degree (Doerner, 2012). To portray this idea, the Deerpath Hall front structure displays an illusion of even flatness in the building s main front wall. This is created by the top, front section of the building s wall being indented inwards and thus, creating a hollow space. To then create a sense of flatness, a small portion of its roof hovers over the indented part of the wall in such a way that the illusion is formed. This is something that the majority of people can agree on. It s for this reason that taking someone s life is one of the most if not the most disgraceful of crimes. Murder is a crime deserving of the harshest punishment available at the hands of the criminal justice system. This brings us to one of the most debated upon issues of today. Is taking the life of one who has taken the life of others an acceptable punishment? When making your decision think about this question; Is the life of the murderer worth any less than the victim s life? Is the death penalty in any form morally justifiable in today s society? The underlying question would be is any kind of killing acceptable, regardless of what the motive behind it is. I personally don t believe that it is an acceptable punishment no matter what the crime. I see it as becoming somewhat like the monsters that we strive to put behind bars. Thesis In regards to the death penalty, it is my belief that life without parole is better for several reasons. I m against the death penalty not for the benefit of the criminals but because it doesn t reduce crime rates, it lengthens the agony experienced by the families of the victims, costs considerably more than life in prison, and, most importantly, risks the deaths of many innocent people. Blood analysis was used in order to examine the amount of protection the prickly pear juice had given to the mice. Figure 3 shows dispersion of untreated, APS, FHES and TMSO treated TRNPs in different solvents after centrifuging at 1000 rpm for 15 minutes. After centrifuging, if most of the particle settles down it is an indicator of poor dispersion of the particle in the solvent. When the relatively large particles settles down and small particles remains in the suspension it is an indicator of medium dispersion. If all the particles remains in the solventand no precipitation is found it is an indicator of very good dispersion. From Figure 3 it is found that, untreated TiO2 is best dispersed in DMF and DMAc polar aprotic solvent which is also supported from small Z average diameter and acceptable PDI value. For untreated NP medium dispersion is found in DI water and ethanol and poor dispersion in TCB, Toluene, DCM, choloroform, THF and isopropanol. As the untreated TRNP is hydrophilic in nature the particles tends to disperse well in relatively polar solvent. APS treated titania nanoparticle renders hydrophobic behavior to the surface [20] and essentially doesn t dissolve in DI water, DMF and DMAC etc. highly polar solvent. The best solvent for APS modified titania is ethanol, isopropanol and formic acidwhich is conspicuous both from digital image and small mean diameter value of the nanoparticle. Her tale is full of moral lessons that encompass a wide variety of subjects but one of the most prevalent is the theme of knowledge and its pursuit. Each of the character s desires demonstrates to be detrimental to them when no boundaries are established. The primary example for the search of knowledge that quickly turned obsessive is Victor Frankenstein. His primary virtue, his love for learning, quickly became obsessive. • 53. The Classroom and Learning a Second Language There is only one reason could be considered why learners decide to use L1 in the classroom. This is because the teacher s efforts encourage them to communicate in the target language. Harmer (2002) maintains that the second language users choose to use the mother tongue when there is no compatible with their L2 level. When the teacher does not create an environment for students to communicate naturally to use English, students may need to use L1 to communicate. If the teacher does not use the target languagetoo much so that students may feel free to use their mother tongue in the second languageclassroom. Thus, some different learning stylescan be implemented that enable students to use the target language much more easily. Learners and teachers of L2 used their L1 in classroom for few reasons which are proficiency level, for comprehension, affective factor and to express feelings and thoughts. 2.2.1 Proficiency level Learning a new language might be frustrating for students who have low proficiency level. Difficulties in producing sentences with correct use of grammar and appropriate choice of words is somewhat common amongst students whose ability to acquire an L2 is low. • 54. Persuasive Essay On The American Dream The phrase The American Dream is relatively old and has a long history, and although its ideas has changed tremendously throughout the centuries, it still holds great meaning behind it. It not only symbolizes financial success, but having the freedom to live independently. For some, living the American Dream means having justice, material possession, or just pursuing everlasting happiness. The new American Dreamrequires you to earn opportunity, and is has been more difficult for others based on their social standing, ethnicity, and race to obtain; as opposed to the past American Dream which involved optimism and hope for a better life. Each source clearly demonstrates the need for determination and willpower to overcome barriers and obstacles of life. In the early years of America, the concept of money and fame was not the American Dream. For the Puritan minister, John Winthrop, the American Dream was love and unity, creating a utopian society based on Christian ideals. Throughout A Model of Christian Charity, Winthrop quotes the Bible to prove that the particular lifestyle of loving and giving is the only way to obtain such an outstanding utopian society. In A Model of Christian Charity, Matthew 7:12: says, Whatsoever ye would that men should to you , creating equality within the world (Winthrop, 25). Winthrop believed that if people were to unite in love, they will be able to change the world in a more positive manner. Furthermore, he believed the Lord created individuals such as the rich, poor, the powerful, and the weak to help each other with each of their different strengths. In conclusion, it presented exactly how the Puritans should treat one another as it would benefit the colonies overall survival. Not only did Winthrop want his colony to survive, but wanted to set a good example to everyone else. This was his vision of the perfect American Dream. Benjamin Franklin demonstrates the possibilities of life in the New World through his own rise from lower middle class as a youth to one of the most admired men in the world. The American Dream for Franklin was to be self made and make America more remarkable. Franklin states, I had, on the whole, abundant reason to be satisfied with my being ...
