The document outlines the role of universities in improving economic productivity among rural, urban, and underrepresented populations. It discusses several programs and partnerships aimed at this, including:
1) The University of Minnesota's efforts to bridge economic divides between urban and rural areas through regional partnerships, talent development, and research collaborations.
2) Data showing women, African Americans, and Latinos contribute less than their population percentages to GDP, and the concept of "inclusive competitiveness" to address this.
3) The Long Beach College Promise partnership between school districts, community colleges, and universities to increase college access and success through initiatives like counseling and career pathways.
4) California State University, Long Beach's BUILD program

EIP Water Action Group City Blueprints September 2013EIP Water
The City Blueprint for Water is a baseline assessment of the sustainability of water management in a city (or other dominantly urban region). The result allows a city to quickly understand how advanced it is in sustainable water management and enables it to compare its status with other leading cities.
This project is one of nine Action Groups selected by the European Commission as an initial EIP Water Action Group.
Sixteen cities/regions have participated so far (August 2013) and many others are being approached. This is an opportunity to take part in a new and innovative programme to help improve city-level water stewardship, in the spirit of smart and sustainable cities.
The basic output is a simple radar chart as shown in the example from Melbourne at the top of this page. The chart provides a quick visual representation of the city’s water stewardship status, and is a tool for easy comparison between cities. It covers 24 key water-related subject areas, such as water footprint, water scarcity, water quality, drinking water availability and wastewater management.
A City Blueprint is just the first step on a journey of communication and cooperation between cities. A key intention is to encourage cities to share their best practices with others, and for all to improve. A website will be developed to facilitate this. All cities are different. Some are advanced in a few or many subject areas. Some have much work to do. The aim is not to highlight failings, but instead to help a city identify areas of focus for improvement, and to learn from the best practices of others, as well as demonstrating and sharing their own best practices.

There is a trend in industry sector cluster initiatives involving public-private partnerships with an emphasis on technologies, innovation, and economic development. These partnerships can include new levels of cooperation and collaboration between universities, industry, entrepreneurial networks, economic development agencies and others. Federal agencies and programs are seeking regional partnerships to leverage their funding resources and to stimulate public-private regional partnerships. One example has been the recent federally designated Manufacturing Community in Los Angeles, Orange, San Diego, and Ventura Counties, the Advanced Manufacturing Partnership Southern California (AMP SoCal). AMP SoCal unites a broad-based consortium of 86 dedicated organizations that have come together to transform the Aerospace and Defense (“A&D”) industry with a focus on advanced manufacturing technologies from additive manufacturing to model-based engineering and design. Simultaneous to the successful launch of the AMP SoCal has been a collaboration between five California State Universities in Los Angeles County to work together as members of this regional partnership and for other initiatives. How these partnerships were formed, their goals, and how they are being nurtured in their fledgling state will be discussed.

Capitalists, Consumers, and Communicators: How Schools Approach Civic EducationRenee Hobbs
In this talk presented at the Digital Media and Learning (DML) conference in Los Angeles on June 12, 2015, Professor Renee Hobbs explores three aspects of civic education as students learn to consume news, gain an understanding of consumer finance, and develop skills as digital media communicators. Hobbs explains that school-based civic education programs are shifting from emphasis on transmission of civic content towards a focus on cultivating skills & dispositions. She describes how a variety of partnerships with the business and philanthropic community are bringing new approaches to teaching and learning of civic education. She notes that these approaches use civic education to address a particular problem of interest to the funder and claims that the most sustainable school-based programs are developed by educators who engage in partnership programs while crafting learning experiences to meet the civic education needs of the students they serve.
A Promising Connection: Increasing College Access and Success through Civic E...Jacob Vennie-Vollrath

Public schools stand at the threshold of a system that has behind them a history of over five decades of testing for identification and accountability since ESEA was first enacted. In front of them is a landscape that is shaped by dramatic changes in demographics: ever changing technology; significant generational differences; and, policy changes at both the federal and state level that could deliver long sought after changes to top down accountability concepts. As educators, we can stand in the threshold, teaching and leading based on our past, or we can step through the door and facilitate learning in this new and constantly shifting environment.
51% of school children attending public schools in America live in poverty based on the federal definition. We have disaggregated student demographic data as it relates to achievement for many years to determine improvement initiatives. In recent years we have experienced significant increases in the costs associated with remedial instruction and special education; both while overall student enrollment in most rural schools is decreasing. The percentage of students eligible for free and reduced lunch has reached all-time highs in many rural, suburban, and urban public schools. What are the implications of all this in the schoolhouse when it comes to learning, teaching and leading?

Ball State University’s Building Better Communities’ (BBC’s) Primacy of Place™Initiative is premised on the idea that a great state is comprised of great communities, and those communities can improve themselves in partnership with Ball State University. BBC has provided comprehensive services that take place in or for the benefit of community partners throughout the state of Indiana. These partnerships serve to engage university faculty, staff, and students in addressing a wide range of community challenges.
Primacy of Place™ represents a community’s strategic choice to dedicate its resources toward placemaking and the improvement of life experiences for residents, businesses, and visitors. Today, the most successful communities are those that recognize the critical importance of human capital in order to compete effectively for economic development. Talent is the single most important element in local economic development, and we believe quality of place is the primary factor in a community’s ability to attract and retain talent.
The ongoing activities of the Primacy of Place™Initiative include a community awards program to recognize successful community quality of place initiatives, a conference to bring together business, university, and civic leaders to discuss how quality of place contributes to economic prosperity, knowledge groups to identify intellectual and creative resources related to Primacy of Place‰ã¢, and best practice databases to make resources readily available.

how to sell pi coins in South Korea profitably.DOT TECH
Yes. You can sell your pi network coins in South Korea or any other country, by finding a verified pi merchant
What is a verified pi merchant?
Since pi network is not launched yet on any exchange, the only way you can sell pi coins is by selling to a verified pi merchant, and this is because pi network is not launched yet on any exchange and no pre-sale or ico offerings Is done on pi.
Since there is no pre-sale, the only way exchanges can get pi is by buying from miners. So a pi merchant facilitates these transactions by acting as a bridge for both transactions.
How can i find a pi vendor/merchant?
Well for those who haven't traded with a pi merchant or who don't already have one. I will leave the telegram id of my personal pi merchant who i trade pi with.

what is the future of Pi Network currency.DOT TECH
The future of the Pi cryptocurrency is uncertain, and its success will depend on several factors. Pi is a relatively new cryptocurrency that aims to be user-friendly and accessible to a wide audience. Here are a few key considerations for its future:
Message: @Pi_vendor_247 on telegram if u want to sell PI COINS.
1. Mainnet Launch: As of my last knowledge update in January 2022, Pi was still in the testnet phase. Its success will depend on a successful transition to a mainnet, where actual transactions can take place.
2. User Adoption: Pi's success will be closely tied to user adoption. The more users who join the network and actively participate, the stronger the ecosystem can become.
3. Utility and Use Cases: For a cryptocurrency to thrive, it must offer utility and practical use cases. The Pi team has talked about various applications, including peer-to-peer transactions, smart contracts, and more. The development and implementation of these features will be essential.
4. Regulatory Environment: The regulatory environment for cryptocurrencies is evolving globally. How Pi navigates and complies with regulations in various jurisdictions will significantly impact its future.
5. Technology Development: The Pi network must continue to develop and improve its technology, security, and scalability to compete with established cryptocurrencies.
6. Community Engagement: The Pi community plays a critical role in its future. Engaged users can help build trust and grow the network.
7. Monetization and Sustainability: The Pi team's monetization strategy, such as fees, partnerships, or other revenue sources, will affect its long-term sustainability.
It's essential to approach Pi or any new cryptocurrency with caution and conduct due diligence. Cryptocurrency investments involve risks, and potential rewards can be uncertain. The success and future of Pi will depend on the collective efforts of its team, community, and the broader cryptocurrency market dynamics. It's advisable to stay updated on Pi's development and follow any updates from the official Pi Network website or announcements from the team.
The European Unemployment Puzzle: implications from population agingGRAPE
We study the link between the evolving age structure of the working population and unemployment. We build a large new Keynesian OLG model with a realistic age structure, labor market frictions, sticky prices, and aggregate shocks. Once calibrated to the European economy, we quantify the extent to which demographic changes over the last three decades have contributed to the decline of the unemployment rate. Our findings yield important implications for the future evolution of unemployment given the anticipated further aging of the working population in Europe. We also quantify the implications for optimal monetary policy: lowering inflation volatility becomes less costly in terms of GDP and unemployment volatility, which hints that optimal monetary policy may be more hawkish in an aging society. Finally, our results also propose a partial reversal of the European-US unemployment puzzle due to the fact that the share of young workers is expected to remain robust in the US.
what is the best method to sell pi coins in 2024DOT TECH
The best way to sell your pi coins safely is trading with an exchange..but since pi is not launched in any exchange, and second option is through a VERIFIED pi merchant.
Who is a pi merchant?
A pi merchant is someone who buys pi coins from miners and pioneers and resell them to Investors looking forward to hold massive amounts before mainnet launch in 2026.
I will leave the telegram contact of my personal pi merchant to trade pi coins with.

Currently pi network is not tradable on binance or any other exchange because we are still in the enclosed mainnet.
Right now the only way to sell pi coins is by trading with a verified merchant.
What is a pi merchant?
A pi merchant is someone verified by pi network team and allowed to barter pi coins for goods and services.
Since pi network is not doing any pre-sale The only way exchanges like binance/huobi or crypto whales can get pi is by buying from miners. And a merchant stands in between the exchanges and the miners.

US Economic Outlook - Being Decided - M Capital Group August 2021.pdfpchutichetpong
The U.S. economy is continuing its impressive recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic and not slowing down despite re-occurring bumps. The U.S. savings rate reached its highest ever recorded level at 34% in April 2020 and Americans seem ready to spend. The sectors that had been hurt the most by the pandemic specifically reduced consumer spending, like retail, leisure, hospitality, and travel, are now experiencing massive growth in revenue and job openings.
Could this growth lead to a “Roaring Twenties”? As quickly as the U.S. economy contracted, experiencing a 9.1% drop in economic output relative to the business cycle in Q2 2020, the largest in recorded history, it has rebounded beyond expectations. This surprising growth seems to be fueled by the U.S. government’s aggressive fiscal and monetary policies, and an increase in consumer spending as mobility restrictions are lifted. Unemployment rates between June 2020 and June 2021 decreased by 5.2%, while the demand for labor is increasing, coupled with increasing wages to incentivize Americans to rejoin the labor force. Schools and businesses are expected to fully reopen soon. In parallel, vaccination rates across the country and the world continue to rise, with full vaccination rates of 50% and 14.8% respectively.
However, it is not completely smooth sailing from here. According to M Capital Group, the main risks that threaten the continued growth of the U.S. economy are inflation, unsettled trade relations, and another wave of Covid-19 mutations that could shut down the world again. Have we learned from the past year of COVID-19 and adapted our economy accordingly?
“In order for the U.S. economy to continue growing, whether there is another wave or not, the U.S. needs to focus on diversifying supply chains, supporting business investment, and maintaining consumer spending,” says Grace Feeley, a research analyst at M Capital Group.
While the economic indicators are positive, the risks are coming closer to manifesting and threatening such growth. The new variants spreading throughout the world, Delta, Lambda, and Gamma, are vaccine-resistant and muddy the predictions made about the economy and health of the country. These variants bring back the feeling of uncertainty that has wreaked havoc not only on the stock market but the mindset of people around the world. MCG provides unique insight on how to mitigate these risks to possibly ensure a bright economic future.

Editor's Notes
Most Americans have an urban-centric world view. Big cities and suburbs are where most of us live and work. Urban issues dominate our discussions and define problems and policy solutions. And, urban American is where culture is shaped, where new jobs and technology are incubate and where big ideas take shape.
--For many rural Americans, waiting for rural development is not a viable option. Rural communities are increasingly experiencing a chronic out migration of young people and rapid population aging.
From an economic development standpoint, urban Americans depend on rural America for food, fiber, natural resources (energy), recreation and much more.
The paradox is that rural and urban America are highly interconnected and embedded in a rapidly globalizing world.
There is an increasing back and forth flow of capital, labor, population, information and ideas, and material goods. Rural America is experiencing a blurring of traditional spatial boundaries.
A binary view (rural-urban) should give way to more of regional view of economic development. Such an approach will change the way universities engage and support economic development.
In Minnesota, a common view is that a metro/rural fault line divides the state, shaping our politics, economy and aspirations. But, similar to the national story, this reference to a divide does not tell the complete story:
--Rural and urban lines are blurring, spatially, culturally and economically.
--Rural development is much more than agriculture development.
--The question now is whether universities, especially public land grant universities, are promoting the new relationships or unwittingly reinforcing older paradigms.
Cluster analysis + input/output analysis was used to better understand urban rural trading connections.:
--40 % of all employment in 17 traded industry sectors happens in rural Minnesota.
--47% of Minnesota’s manufacturing cluster output originated in rural MN.
--Hypothetically, if rural MN’s manufacturing cluster experienced a 6% growth in output, the urban area picks up 16% of all the jobs gained and 38% of all additional output.
(Businesses in rural MN tend to be smaller and the associated jobs tend to have lower wages than comparable jobs in urban areas.)
--Essential role of creative innovation in rural Minnesota’s future.
--And, a critical issue around workforce.
A shift in economic development thinking and planning is underway in Minnesota. At the state level, there is a push to adopt a regionally driven economic development agenda that focuses on talent, innovation and trade.
As this shift occurs, the University of Minnesota is rethinking its approach to supporting economic development across the state:
Learn from business and economic development leaders: get out and engage with different communities on a regular basis. Ask them about priorities and needs. (ROAD SHOW)
Connect small and mid size companies with university resources. (eg. Innovaton Voucher Program)
Join community forums and convene statewide events on a regular basis. Focus on building trust and continuity of engagement. Augment the services of Extension.
This emphasis requires different work patterns, reinforcing collaboration versus competition and working hard to BUILD TRUST.
The primary needs we have heard while traveling around the state are:
Access to talent—workforce of the future
Connecting to university experts and resources
Encouraging university spin outs to locate in greater MN
“Scaling” the university to the scale and needs of smaller communities
With that input, we are moving forward with several important initiatives, in partnership with our statewide economic development agency and other post-secondary academic institutions:
--Focus on workforce
--Increasing connections between companies/employers and university students
--Supporting entrepreneurship
--Connecting business R&D needs with statewide resources
My message today has been that universities have an important role to play in improving economic productivity, across both urban and rural communities. However, in order to be successful in this universities, and especially the land grant institutions, must reinvent their futures, too.
This reinvention includes several components but ultimately, what is needed is to:
Design new interdisciplinary efforts that ultimately help regions – and clusters of communities – seize innovations and grow entrepreneurs; and
Enhance delivery systems that bring programs and information to regions.
Thank you for your attention.
