Statement

Academic History
• At secondary school I studied drama which links in with film
as we got to devise our piece, I got a chance to write and
direct with a group. I ended up getting an 8 in drama and
our devised piece got a 14/15. I learned how to include
everyone in the group, as whenever we had to do group
work I would naturally 'lead' the group. When devising our
piece, it's a creative process between different people, we
had disagreements, arguments, it's just trying to
compromise. It's everyone's vision, I learned it's important
for everyone to be on the same page, which we were not. It
helped me escape creativity and channel what I loved at
the time and still love, particular films we were trying to
evoke, it was like working a short film but with no
cameras.
Current Study
• It has helped me carefully consider the pre-
production process and how to refine my ideas. I
was able to set creative challenges such as make
a film under 10 minuets long, it has given me
confidence find actors to be in my film. There's a
variety of creative outlets, particularly in the first
year where we do a bit of everything. I had learn
photoshop, pixel art, animation, premiere pro.
Even though I would never do some of these
projects in my own time, for fun, I still put lots of
effort into them.
The Future
• I want to direct films professionally,I feel
university will help underline the expectations
and skills needed. It will help me get ready to
step into the industry, providing career links.
Can make a safe transition from education
into the industry. Working towardsdeadlines
and uni work will help me get into the right
mind set and work ethic.
Outside College
• Ever since I was 12 or 13 I've been making films.My enthusiasmhas onlygrown since then,and
continues to grow.It started from making silly(at the time I thought it was very serious)rip-offs
from my favourite super-villains and TVshows.Made a feature length film at 15. I've roped
together large cast of actors to be in my films, in year 10 and 11. I've planned and organised long
shoots and productions.Got locations
• YouTube channel(over1,500 subscribers,100,000 total views across all videos)Way I express
myself,my love for cinema,I connect with people in the UK movie YouTube community,host live
streams etc. All my short films are on my channel
• Part time job for 3 years working at busyindependent restaurant -dedicated,reliable, given
responsibility,trusted.
• Bronze DofE award
• Promo events videos – Ryedale rumble and eco event
• At age 13 I managed to sneakonto a professionalfilm set, theywere filmingon location
a 10 minute walkfrom where I live.It was The Secret Garden remake with Collin Firth and Julie
Walters.I met the co-producer and she gave me her email address and invited meto visit the set
when theywere filmingon location at Fountains Abbey.This gave me lots of great advice,
experiencinga real professional film set.
Conclusion
• I am very able and enthusiasticabout cinema
and filmmaking, I already know quite a bit but
always ready to learn more.

  • 10. Academic History • At secondary school I studied drama which links in with film as we got to devise our piece, I got a chance to write and direct with a group. I ended up getting an 8 in drama and our devised piece got a 14/15. I learned how to include everyone in the group, as whenever we had to do group work I would naturally 'lead' the group. When devising our piece, it's a creative process between different people, we had disagreements, arguments, it's just trying to compromise. It's everyone's vision, I learned it's important for everyone to be on the same page, which we were not. It helped me escape creativity and channel what I loved at the time and still love, particular films we were trying to evoke, it was like working a short film but with no cameras.
  • 11. Current Study • It has helped me carefully consider the pre- production process and how to refine my ideas. I was able to set creative challenges such as make a film under 10 minuets long, it has given me confidence find actors to be in my film. There's a variety of creative outlets, particularly in the first year where we do a bit of everything. I had learn photoshop, pixel art, animation, premiere pro. Even though I would never do some of these projects in my own time, for fun, I still put lots of effort into them.
  • 12. The Future • I want to direct films professionally,I feel university will help underline the expectations and skills needed. It will help me get ready to step into the industry, providing career links. Can make a safe transition from education into the industry. Working towardsdeadlines and uni work will help me get into the right mind set and work ethic.

Outside College • Ever since I was 12 or 13 I've been making films.My enthusiasmhas onlygrown since then,and continues to grow.It started from making silly(at the time I thought it was very serious)rip-offs from my favourite super-villains and TVshows.Made a feature length film at 15. I've roped together large cast of actors to be in my films, in year 10 and 11. I've planned and organised long shoots and productions.Got locations • YouTube channel(over1,500 subscribers,100,000 total views across all videos)Way I express myself,my love for cinema,I connect with people in the UK movie YouTube community,host live streams etc. All my short films are on my channel • Part time job for 3 years working at busyindependent restaurant -dedicated,reliable, given responsibility,trusted. • Bronze DofE award • Promo events videos – Ryedale rumble and eco event • At age 13 I managed to sneakonto a professionalfilm set, theywere filmingon location a 10 minute walkfrom where I live.It was The Secret Garden remake with Collin Firth and Julie Walters.I met the co-producer and she gave me her email address and invited meto visit the set when theywere filmingon location at Fountains Abbey.This gave me lots of great advice, experiencinga real professional film set.
