My functions at Winder Controls/Siemag Tecberg are twofold, that of mechanical/hydraulic
production manager and project manager. As production manager I am required to
oversee the internal and external production of winder equipment, as project manager the
role is similar with the addition of all other aspects of the project which include cost control
and invoicing, design review, risk assessments, project planning, project close out and
client feedback/interaction.
Job tasks include but are not limited to the following:
 Project handover and contract detail clarification.
 Produce a project cost report and monthly updating for project cost control and
forecasting.
 Design review and project costing.
 Constant measuring of client requirements against the contract and tender
document.
 Sub-contractor allocation and order placement allowing for relevant order
stipulations and requirement details. This would include a specific order bar chart
for expediting and delivery milestones for long lead items.
 Sub-contractor management and expediting.
 Management of the quality control process including quality control plan review and
implementation and concession issues.
 Management of a 12000m2
facility in Wadeville where Siemag process the
refurbishment/inspection and assembly of new and used winder equipment.
 Management of in house stores and workshop where Siemag have fabrication
capabilities and do workshop testing of smaller assemblies and hydraulic
equipment.
 Design and implementation of numerous systems for the control and management
of these various functions on a continuous basis.
 Creating and updating of project plans in MS Project for most work carried out
which is then issued to the client for project review and progress meetings.
 Implementation of the OHSact 85 of 1993 and management of labour related
issues such as time sheets and disciplinary actions.
 Following the production/project plan through to contractual completion dates.
 Co-ordination of the delivery of large equipment to site at specified project
milestones.
 Staff management of 15 -30 depending work load.
 The facility houses a large Vertical turning lathe and a horizontal boring mill which
form part of the refurbishment and production process, my duties include the
management of the machines from job costing to scheduled maintenance and
operators.
 The facility also has 50T, 5T and 3 off 10T crane capacity.
 OHSact legal compliance and continuous measuring and improvement of workshop
safety.
PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE
Upon returning from a brief sabbatical in Australia and New Zealand, I consulted to
Equipment Development and Optimization SA. EDOSA is involved in the design,
manufacture and repair of material handling equipment such as thickeners, rail wagon
tipplers and filtration equipment.
My role was that of contracts management which included the following functions:
 Assisting in the inspection of equipment – either for refurbishment or replacement.
 Assisting in the proposal and estimating process.
 Providing and updating MS project bar charts as well as the reporting thereof to
various parties involved in the project.
 Supplier management – providing suppliers with detailed enquiries, awarding
contracts and complete management of this process through to satisfactory
delivery of goods including inspection and expediting.
 Sub-contractor management – sourcing suitable on site sub-contractors and
managing them through to satisfactory completion of work.
 Final close out and reporting
Period : March 2009 – July 2009

My functions at Winder Controls/Siemag Tecberg are twofold, that of mechanical/hydraulic production manager and project manager. As production manager I am required to oversee the internal and external production of winder equipment, as project manager the role is similar with the addition of all other aspects of the project which include cost control and invoicing, design review, risk assessments, project planning, project close out and client feedback/interaction. Job tasks include but are not limited to the following:  Project handover and contract detail clarification.  Produce a project cost report and monthly updating for project cost control and forecasting.  Design review and project costing.  Constant measuring of client requirements against the contract and tender document.  Sub-contractor allocation and order placement allowing for relevant order stipulations and requirement details. This would include a specific order bar chart for expediting and delivery milestones for long lead items.  Sub-contractor management and expediting.  Management of the quality control process including quality control plan review and implementation and concession issues.  Management of a 12000m2 facility in Wadeville where Siemag process the refurbishment/inspection and assembly of new and used winder equipment.

PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE Upon returning from a brief sabbatical in Australia and New Zealand, I consulted to Equipment Development and Optimization SA. EDOSA is involved in the design, manufacture and repair of material handling equipment such as thickeners, rail wagon tipplers and filtration equipment.
