2. OBJECTIVES
At the end of the lesson, students are
expected to:
1. Distinguish the types of speech
according to purpose in a given
situation. (L2);
2. Identify the three types of speech
according to purpose .(L1);

Scenario:
You were assigned by the principal
to be the School's event planner. Now,
your task is to organize a program for
IP Students Day whose participants
are IP learners of the school.

On the same group, students will
arrange the diagram to get the
process of Speech Writing. A
representative of the group will
present and explain their output.

8. TYPES OF SPEECH
According to Purpose:
• Expository/informative Speech
• Persuasive Speech
• Entertainment Speech

9. EXPOSITORY/INFORMATIVE SPEECH
• To inform
• Provides knowledge, especially interesting
information
• The speaker’s aim is to help audience
understand the topic to allow them to make an
educated choice.
Examples:
Reports, lectures, demonstrations, marketing
presentations

10. PERSUASIVE SPEECH
• To convince the audience to change
their views or beliefs
Examples:
• Miting de Avance (Campaign period)
• Commencement Address
• Advertisements

11. ENTERTAINMENT SPEECH
• It is a speech that still informs or persuades but
this speech is cloaked with HUMOR .
• It has a main idea and the audience still learn
from you.
Examples:
Humorous storytelling
Stand-up comedy
Showbiz awards night

13. ACTIVITY 3
1.In a group, look for a sample video of the
type of speech that you picked. You can
choose a video on a language you can
easily understand.
2.Identify the features that makes it the
type of speech you picked.
3.Choose a representative

14. ASSESSMENT
Identify the purpose of speech from which each line was
lifted.
