computer that can handle thousands
of connected users simultaneously.
It stores termondous amounts of data
,instructions and information
They are so powerful and quite
expensive.
It is accamodated in large air
conditioned rooms because of its size.
USES OF MAINFRAMES

performance and data processing are the
Supercomputers.
 The supercomputers are very expensive and very
large in size. It can be accommodated in large air-
conditioned rooms; some super computers can
span an entire building.
 They are capable of processing more than one
quadrillion instructions in a second
USES OF SUPERCOMPUTERS
 Supercomputers are used to study the origin of the
universe, the dark-matters.
 Supercomputers are used to study the Earthquakes
phenomenon.
 Supercomputers are used for natural resources
exploration, like natural gas, petroleum, coal, etc.
 Supercomputers are used for weather forecasting,
and to study the nature and extent of Hurricanes,
Rainfalls, windstorms, etc.
 Supercomputers are used to run weapon simulation
that can test the Range, accuracy & impact of
Nuclear weapons.
 In Pakistan Supercomputers are used by
Educational Institutes like NUST for research
purposes. Pakistan Atomic Energy commission &
Heavy Industry Taxila uses supercomputers for
Research purposes.

FIRST SUPER COMPUTER
 Seymour Cray designed the first Supercomputer
"CDC 6600" in 1964. CDC 6600 is known as the
first ever Supercomputer.
EMBEDDED COMPUTERS
EMBEDDED COMPUTERS
 It is a special purpose computer that functions in a
large device as a small part of it.
 They performs various functions depending on the
requiremint of product in which they reside.
 They are small in size and have limited hardwares.
